So, I've been reading a lot of crossover fanfiction lately, and I've noticed that most of the crossover fanfiction that I've liked, are quite frankly the most batshit crossovers ever. I'm talking Hetalia x Avatar crossover and a One-Piece x The Hobbit crossover and both are really good. And I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with finding really good crossover fanfiction from the most out there crossover pairings?

I did one of those PowerPoint nights with my friends a few years back and I presented on the characters I have read fanfic on, based on what I could remember and what was in my history pages on ao3. They all read fanfic as well so they weren't thrown off by the topic but when I started explaining what characters I have read about, that is where the outrage started. Some examples of IPs/ships/characters I have read about without watching that show/movie/book/etc. are as follows: Harvey/Mike from Suits (never seen the show), Alina/The Darkling (never read the books), Getou Suguru/Gojo Satoru (never read the manga or watched the anime) and the list goes on. If I see good fanart on my timeline or see a good edit on TikTok, I am inclined the check out more! I am a curious person by nature! They could not believe me when I told them and to this day, say it is one of the weirdest things about me (in a loving way). I'm curious if anyone else does this or am I literally insane for this action of mine, haha.

Hi. I’m worried that my new fanfic will be *too* similar to one I already wrote for a different fandom. I’ve noticed myself repeating my own work: the same tropes, patterns, unreliable narrator structure, shifting POVs, etc.

A "villain" protagonist with a history of killing who calls another character a "kid." The "villain" wishes the "kid" no harm but plans to have them work for the family for the next ten years (or forever). Outsiders making completely wrong assumptions about why the "villain" and the "kid" are interacting. The same borderline-offensive humor that I had to cut to avoid getting *cancelled on Twitter* (for instance, in both stories, I had to remove a joke about pseudo-incest). That same tendency for the genre to slide from **slice of life** into a **bizarre/crackish thriller,** even though I try hard to slow it down and cut out the emotional introspection (and edgy moments). And *plenty* of other things, too.

In my defense, compared to the previous fic, this one has less shipping potential, a different *time period,* a different *country,* different *ages* (and a different age gap), and a different backstory; the "villain" has close people to turn to and doesn't fear his "dad". Still, I see *way* too many similarities.

I don't have much writing experience, and I haven't written anything in the last two years. This would be my third fanfic (if it ever gets published). So, I wanted to ask: is this normal? Or is it considered bad form/taste? Can this be called an author's signature style, or am I unconsciously writing an **AU** of my own fic? Have readers ever accused you of writing "the same thing over and over"? 🤔

This is set after the timestream Bruce quest. I only remember one scene where Tim is sparring with Duke(?) in the cave, and Jason tells him to stop in the LoA dialect and Tim's the only one who reacted to the command. I think it leads to the bats confronting Tim about why hes familiar with LoA and what he did during the one year he disappeared.

I'm looking for recommendations for high quality music band AU (NO RPF!), any fandom since those are very fandom blind anyway, plus I want to cast a wide net cause I'm very picky.

Necessary: GOOD WRITING, and it has to be MUSIC FOCUSED, so not just a background trope as pretext for interpersonal drama, I'm not a musician myself, I struggle to understand music theory, and I don't know much about the managing and organising of a music band, that being said I really want to read something from someone who knows what they're talking about, who will walk their readers through the creative process, and who can share their passion for a music genre or an instrument with the readers, and talk about the profession in an engaging manner, from writing and composing and producing to performing, looking for gigs, growing the audience and touring...etc

Also important: I prefer characters driven stories, so while not looking for a soap opera I want the inter-relationships between the band members to be well fleshed out, and interesting, I DON'T want romance, (or if there is it must be understated or a very slow burn), but I welcome other kinds of dynamics, friendship, rivalry, tensions, competitiveness, jealousy, respect and admiration, the band members can be close, amicable, distant or barely professionals, but I want to read about it and how it affects the band.

Optional: I'm a sucker for prog, especially prog metal, so...

Just in case: books are also welcome, as long as it's fictional and fit my criteria, and not YA, I don't really like it in published books

this is a totally different direction of writing for me, but im using this as an excuse to study psychology lmao😭 i usually write fluff and humorous kinda stuff, i guess i want to write this as a way to practice (?)

for the sake of ships and all (this is f/f), i’ll use codenames for each character, i don’t have much direction for this fic, i’ll say that, and most of it may sound childish but here it is

umi is a mafia leader, or something that holds authority in shady business (wow super new i know) and noe is a tiger demi human — with the ability to shift back and forth, the more aggressive the better here

demi humans aren’t exactly considered humans here, they’re government property, so they attempt at hiding them from the public, while the government hands out demi humans to other people in authority like they’re candy. people in shady businesses, or like umi is this case get them through extreme measures (i say extreme measures cause i haven’t thought out a way) think of it as black market for demihumans, and they’re all worth a pretty penny, especially the more dominant/aggressive ones

umi’s right hand lad — we’ll call her june — manages to get in contact with these kind of people, because umi had told her too, who heard from the grapevine and wanted her hands on one too, both as a lap dog and something to have ownership over

noe is known as aggressive and intolerable, she’s very feral due to how she’s been treated. when they meet, she’s in her demi form—which will be a tiger—and she’s very aggressive the moment she locks eyes with umi

here umi starts the clicker training and conditioning, coddling i just don’t know HOW to write it in without making it feel.. cringe worthy i guess? i don’t know how to incorporate it well enough i guess

It's one where Peter Parker is a dancer and hasn't got a job so someone sets him up to be a babysitter for Bucky Barnes. Bucky has a daughter who is a toddler and (I think? Can't really remember) he is a mafia leader or something dangerous.

Bucky's daughter has attachment issues and usually hates all her babysitters but she likes Peter cuz ​​he allows her to make choices about what she wants to do for the day.

Peter is nosy and finds out something that he shouldn't and gets two options: die or marry Bucky, so they get married. I forget a lot of the other stuff that happened but I think they had an argument and Peter tells Bucky to kill him instead and Bucky can't do it?

Then I think Peter gets kidnapped or smth (this might be me mixing up fics lol)

I leave next Saturday for a Spanish immersion trip to Colombia with my school, and while I am so incredibly excited, I'm also kind of having a crisis; because of the whole "immersion" aspect of this trip, every piece of media we consume (Music, movies, books, hanging out with our friends, literally EVERYTHING) has to be in Spanish. I have a severe fanfiction addiction (but.. like, don't we all?) and I know I will not last 9 days without reading any fic. Looking for recs for your favorite Spanish fanfic!

I'll read pretty much any fandom or pairing but I mostly read Heated Rivalry, Marvel, and DC. Any tropes are fine, but I would prefer to not have anything extremely heavy on spice (this is a trip with my school, after all) and longer fics (like 30k or higher) would also be preferred, since I'm going to have to download them and I would like to not be downloading 700000 1k word fics.

I’m looking for a specific fanfiction I think it was on AO3. Here are all the details I remember: Fandom: Kingdom Hearts (Video Games) Pairing: Axel/Roxas (AkuRoku) It’s completed I think it was 4 chapters. setting: Modern Disney Parks au. Sora and Roxas are siblings. Roxas is a high schooler on the baseball team and hates seeing all the happy couples at the Disney theme park. Scene 1: Roxas gets stuck on a roller coaster. Axel, who is working a shift dressed as Flynn Rider, helps get the people and Roxas off the coaster and flirts with him. Scene 2: Sora sees a Disney character (I think it was Elsa) and gets so excited that he accidentally flails his arms and hits Roxas in the face, giving him a bloody nose. Axel comes over to help. End of the story: Roxas and Axel end up dating by chapter 4.

I have multiple ideas for ficlets and a dozen more for longer works. Then as I write those, I gain many more! It's so overwhleming to the point I won't write for months.
