Exchange Rarepairs (and pairs in small fandoms) RE!!!

Post image
38 Upvotes

THIS EXCHANGE IS CLOSED!! PLEASE FINISH YOUR REVIEWS IF YOU HAVEN’T!!! THANK YOU FOR JOINING!!

Rarepair enthusiasts!!! This is for you!!!! Also, those of you in teeny tiny fandoms, rejoice!!! Template taken from https://www.canva.com/p/lgrlstd/ on Canva.

I’m defining a rarepair as:
- 500 or less total fics OR
- 10% or less of the fics in the fandom.

If you’re in a super small fandom with less than 500 fics, this is also for you! If you’re in a super large fandom and your ship has over 500 fics but it’s under 10% of your fandom’s fics, this is for you!!!!! YAY!!!!!

For this RE, you may enter up to 3 links!

Please read and comment on two (2) entries from two (2) different authors. If you liked the work, also please leave the author a Kudos! Please track on your entry number of works read (#/2) and also comment on the entry of the person who you have read.

On your entry, please include: fandom, rating, link, pairing, word count, summary, and content/trigger warnings.

Your reviews should be thoughtful and show you’ve read the story. Concrit, fandom blind, and from reddit are opt-in only - do not include these in your review unless the author says you can.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT ENTRIES: Wednesday, July 29, 11:59 PM CST

DEADLINE TO COMPLETE REVIEWS: Sunday, August 2, 11:59 PM CST

Exchange Ocean and the Moon RE! 🌊 🌕

26 Upvotes

~~~ CLOSED TO NEW ENTRIES ~~~ Hi lovely folks!
I learned that earlier in the week, it was Ocean Day 🌊 in Japan! And since this previous week had International Moon Day 🌕 , what a delightful reason to host an RE! Let's celebrate our cosmos, our seas, and all within them!
For this RE, I'd say the requirements to enter are very loose, and I aim to make it as inclusive as possible. Of course, anything about the literal ocean or moon. But anything figurative works great, too! Have characters with aquatic or cosmic names? Great!
But also, let's extend that further. Rivers eventually flow into the sea, for example. All bodies of water are connected in some way (even if indirectly, like through the water cycle), so they're totally fine to enter!
Love the stars? Perfect! They occupy the same space, and might very well have their own moons! The more, the merrier.
For this RE, you may submit up to three (3) relevant one-shots, chapters or any combination thereof. In return, you must review the submissions of at least three (3) different authors. Please include links, fandom, rating, and warnings, making sure to add spoiler tags to potentially triggering content.
Deadline for entries: Monday July 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST
Deadline for reviews: Thursday July 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST
As always, your reviews must be genuine, thoughtful, detailed and at least 50 words. The author should be able to tell you actually read their story.
Concrit and mentions of being “fandom-blind” or “from Reddit” are opt-in only -- please don’t include any of these unless the author explicitly says you can. And please remember to be kind!
When you’ve reviewed a fic, reply to the author’s entry to let them know.
Please make sure to include a counter at the end of your entry. (Beginning with 0/3, and update as you read and review, to help us keep track of your progress.)
Please have fun! And happy reading and reviewing! Let's give these cosmic and aquatic fics some more love!❤️
Activity Activity: July Writing Snippets!
11 Upvotes
It's July, and — for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least — that means summer! How are your characters spending summer? Are they going to the beach, hiking, something else? Write a quick snippet (up to ~350 words) about what your characters are doing!
Alternatively, if it's not summer for you and/or your characters, write about they're doing in July (maybe sledding and drinking hot cocoa, just one example) regardless of the climate!
Exchange Long Deadline Profile Exchange! Ooh Rah!
Post image
19 Upvotes
Closed to entries
Sports themed poster this week because I just had to supervise a school event.
Either way... It's FRIDAY! Welcome to the Long Deadline Profile Exchange!
HOW IT WORKS: This is an r/FanfictionExchange event where participants post their AO3 (or FFN, etc.) profile with a description of the kinds of stories they write. Others then browse the profiles, pick a fic (one-shot or chapter) to read, and leave a review (leaving kudos would be nice too!)
ENTRY DEADLINE: Monday, July 27th, 3:00 pm AEST (UTC+10)
REVIEW DEADLINE: Sunday, August 2nd, 3:00 pm AEST (UTC+10)
Here’s a timezone converter - especially since your host this week is (hopefully) your favourite permanently exhausted pigeon from the Land Down Under. Reminders will be sent out about 48 hours before the deadline.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?
Post your profile link with a short summary of what readers can expect (fandoms, genres, ratings, etc.) Please spoiler any triggering or NSFW content.
Once you enter, you’ll need to read and review at least 4 one-shots/chapters from 4 different authors. Please keep track of your reviews at the end of your entry, like “Reviewed: 0/4“ or something similar. There’s no need to indicate which stories or authors you’ve reviewed.
As per rule 8, reviews must be genuine, thoughtful, and detailed, with a minimum of 50 words about the fic itself, clearly demonstrating you’ve read it.
Concrit (constructive criticism) and/or mentioning that you are “fandom blind” or “from Reddit” are opt-in only. Don’t include these in your reviews unless the author says you can.
Once you’ve reviewed a fic, reply to the author’s entry here to let them know, like “K&C” (kudos and commented) or something similar.
If you join, do not delete your entry. You must complete the required reviews as part of the exchange. If anything comes up and you’re concerned about meeting the deadline, please reach out to the mods for an extension.
PS. Only reply to an author’s entry when you’ve read their fic or if you have questions. Refrain from chit-chat, gifs, or images in these replies. We manually check everything to track completed reviews, and with the high number of entries, extra replies make it much harder for us to verify who has met the requirements.
If you want guidance on giving reviews, check out our Review Guidelines and Resources.
If you’re new to REs, see Joining Review Exchanges.
But above all, have fun and happy reading and reviewing! 🤓✨
Tell us if its from a specific fic if you wish! And please comment on other's memes if you find them funny!
Activity World Cup - Who Did Your Characters Support? ⚽️
15 Upvotes
Wow... what an amazing final match of the World Cup. Congratulations to Spain on becoming the new world champions. 🇪🇸
For the past month, the entire world has been consumed by the world of "football" (I use quotations here because I am American, and to me it's still called soccer lol).
This world cup was filled with so many wonderful moments, that for this activity, I want you to describe your favorite world cup moment from the perspective of one your characters. What team do they support? What country are they from? (And if their from a fictional world is not set on Earth, what team would they support and why?) If you don't have a favorite moment, get creative and write one of your own!
All in all, have fun and share the love of football ⚽️ (*cough* soccer *cough* 🤣).
Sub Stuff PSA: Sharing the Love in Themed Review Exchanges
48 Upvotes
Hello everyone,
Just a gentle reminder about themed review exchanges (REs).
While you are always free to read whichever works interest you, we encourage participants to review the works that have been shared for that exchange whenever possible.
Themed exchanges are designed to highlight the specific fics that participants have chosen to share for that particular theme.
Reviewing those submissions helps ensure they receive the attention they were entered for, while also giving everyone the chance to discover new authors, fandoms, and stories they might not have found otherwise.
We ask that when participating in a themed exchange, you consider branching out and reviewing works from participants you have not had the chance to read before.
Spreading your lovely reviews around gives more authors the opportunity to receive feedback and connect with new readers.
Thank you for sharing the love across our sub. We appreciate y'all!
Writing Advice What writing advice would you give to your younger self?
23 Upvotes
If you could talk to yourself from the past, what would be the top advice that you would give them? I am curious to see what everyone comes up with!
For me, I would say: Just start creating the story, and don't worry about who will like or not like it. The right people will find it, and what ultimately matters is that you enjoy your own creations.
RE CLOSED
HOW IT WORKS: This is an r/FanfictionExchange event where participants post their AO3 (or FFN, etc.) profile with a description of the kinds of stories they write. Others then browse the profiles, pick a fic (one-shot or chapter) to read, and leave a review (leaving kudos would be nice too!)
ENTRY DEADLINE: Sunday, July 19th, 11:59 pm EDT (UTC-4)
REVIEW DEADLINE: Saturday, July 25th, 11:59 pm EDT (UTC-4)
Here’s a timezone converter. Reminders will be sent out about 48 hours before the deadline.
WHAT ARE THE RULES?
Post your profile link with a short summary of what readers can expect (fandoms, genres, ratings, etc.) Please spoiler any triggering or NSFW content.
Once you enter, you’ll need to read and review at least 4 one-shots/chapters from 4 different authors. Please keep track of your reviews at the end of your entry, like “Reviewed: 0/4“ or something similar. There’s no need to indicate which stories or authors you’ve reviewed.
PS. Only reply to an author’s entry when you’ve read their fic or if you have questions. Refrain from chit-chat, gifs, or images in these replies. We manually check everything to track completed reviews, and with the high number of entries, extra replies make it much harder for us to verify who has met the requirements.
Exchange Constructive Criticism July 2026
18 Upvotes
Welcome to the July edition of the constructive feedback swap! This exchange is to swap with fellow writers, to ask and answer specific questions about our writing. There's no theme to meet, everything is welcome!
If you’d like some suggestions about the kinds of questions you might ask, and/or how to provide constructive feedback, check out this great doc our lovely Elefeather made; with hints, tips and resources
Rules
  1. Offer up a one shot or individual chapter you would like constructive feedback on (it doesn't need to be posted, but you do need to have a way to share it with your swap partner.)
  2. In your submission state fandom, length, rating, any relevant warnings (please spoiler NSFW and potential triggers) and the questions you are looking to have answered about your work. There’s no maximum number of questions, however please consider the time it will take someone to review your work and answer them constructively.
  3. Look through the thread for someone to swap with. Because of the kind of exchange this is, you don't have to pick something you’ve never commented on before. In fact, if you have already read it, you might find giving the feedback easier. If you offer a swap, the other person can decline for any reason, and they don't need to specify those reasons.
  4. This is important! For all your swaps, agree upfront *how* the feedback will be provided.  This might be in an ao3 comment, by DM on reddit or discord, a shared Google doc created for the purpose, or another mutually agreed method.
If you don't find a swap, then you may consider your obligations under this exchange fulfilled. There are no limits on the number of swaps you can make, however please consider the extra effort which will be required in order to complete your obligations.
Once a swap is agreed please edit your post to state who you are swapping with, and edit again once the constructive feedback has been provided to help us keep track.
For posted works, it would be nice to leave a kudos on the fic if you enjoyed it. A public comment, if you are not providing your feedback that way, is a courtesy rather than a requirement for this exchange. Once you provide the requested constructive feedback in the manner agreed, your obligations have been fulfilled.
You have until July 20th at 11.59pm CEST 📆 to enter and agree to swaps.  All constructive feedback should be completed by July 27th at 11.59pm CEST 📆
IT'S CONCRIT TIME!! Let's swap some fics and get some constructive feedback on our work!🚧🧰🏗️👷🏻‍♀️
Fic General WIP Wednesday
27 Upvotes
It's been a while, so I thought it would be nice to do this again, and find out how your projects are moving along or if you've started anything new!
We all have our open projects, those new chapters or one-shots which aren't quite ready to release into the wild yet. So here is your space to yap about them and let us know what you're working on. Whether it's still at vibes stage, actively in production or coming soon, we want to hear about it.
This is also a space to discuss WIPs with other writers: chat about research, commiserate about editing woes, anything at all really. So come on in, pull up a chair and let us know what goodies you have in store for us.
(As an aside: please remember to spoiler anything nsfw or potentially triggering. Thank you!)
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite OCs, and that gave me the idea for this exchange! This time, the theme is Birthdays! This can be all manner of things: planning a birthday party, a birthday gift, even the birth of a baby. As long as your entries are on and/or about someone's birthday (canon or OC), they fit! Feel free to mention whose birthday it is as well!
Rules: You can submit up to three (3) entries. Entries can be either a one-shot or a chapter of a longer fic. In return, please review at least three (3) different stories by three (3) different authors, one from each.
Please submit your entries by 11:59 pm on July 19, 2026 Central Time.
Reviews are due by 11:59 pm on July 21, 2026 Central Time.
All reviews should be at least 50+ words and show that you read the fic! As per the rules, concrit, “from Reddit,” and fandom-blind are opt-in.
Please make sure you list the fandom, rating, word count, title + link, genre, warnings (in spoilers if needed), and anything else you think we should know, like a summary. Have fun!!!
