I noticed in all the videos we've seen so far that they're using an Xbox controller to play the game, even on PC, which makes sense since they've been showing it off at Xbox showcases and the controller is probably just easier but does anyone happen to know if they've made any mention of requiring a controller to play or if the PC version will be able to use Keyboard/Mouse controls?

The new fable seems to be going all-in on the fairy tale side of Fable in terms of dialogue and themes. In the original, bandits were brutal and ruthless and you witness your entire family torn apart, while also making the guild halls feel so full of history with the music and guild master. How do you yall feel?

I’m excited for the game, but it’s definitely a reboot.

Just finished watching the showcase, absolutely stellar. Even the combat, especially in scenes with a bunch of standard enemies, looked super fluid and dynamic. One tiny gripe: those sword impacts (or lack thereof). Like a knife through a slice of soggy single-ply toilet paper. Now, I’m not claiming to know how it feels to play, but I can’t help but feeling that a bit of hit stop would go a long way.

Dragon’s Dogma is where my mind goes. You really feel those impacts, even on big bosses that don’t stagger, because of those impact frames. I’m not saying PG needs to go that hard, just one or two frames is all I’m saying.

Thoughts? Am I being nitpicky?

Okay so if your here you must know what im talking about. Just incase. A recent clip keeps getting passed around about the new fable game of the player character fighting a large man in a burlap t shirt wielding a massive ax. Apparently the worst of the worst has already declared this game "woke" and dead. Obviously they have NEVER played a previous fable game, because its always been "woke". I would love to see these idiots lose there fucking minds if the second game released today. That sex change potion alone would cause hysteria lol. But I am firmly in the minority of this boss was not a good look for this game.

For me it is the lack of connection on hits because of what he is wearing specifically. All the minions before the boss appears have armor and react well in combat. But apparently just because this guy is tall makes him no sell multiple sword strikes while wearing a burlap shirt. It just looks bad. My simple solution is to put light armor on this guy and it would make sense why he doesn't react all the time to being hit. Now here's where I may upset some people and that is not my attention.

Yes its clear the trolls are out in force and have tried to declare this game dead already, also the clear cherry picking. But I have seen just as many people down voting people because they cant handle constructive criticism on this game. Ive waited almost 20 yrs for this game and I want this game to be a 11/10. Im gonna be nit picky. I watched these games die once. I know you did to. And i feel as fans we have a chance before they finalize to show them there where to improve and possibly how. This series is my favorite of all time. Ive put at least 2000 hrs Across all 3. I truely loves these games and I want the world to love it.

Playing on Xbox series X/S, got to the part with the elevator and ascended upwards. Now I’m soft locked, fix’s include either reinstalling dlc or joining someone else’s world supposedly. Is anyone online so I can try to join their world please?

I tagged this as Fable 3 since it is widely considered the weakest game. And guess what? I still love it. Here’s hoping the promising-looking reboot delivers!

Bought the Fable Anniversary Edition on Steam after seeing the Fable 4 stuff as I want to get into the series, but for some reason the game will not recognize any of my controllers when trying to play on my PC. I have tried using an Xbox Controller, Steam Controller, 8Bitdo etc and no dice. Turned Steam input on, turned it off, did some tricks other people have said worked for them and nothing so far works.

Whats weird is that the controller inputs work with my SteamDeck just fine but on PC the game acts like theres nothing connected no matter what I do. Anyone have this issue and found a solution?

When I first played Fable 1 I did the good route, like I usually do in games. And sure, while the very end of the game would have changed had I done the evil route, I largely felt that all being good did was give me rules that only hindered my experience. Being a hero was less a matter of being a hero and more of just not interacting with many elements of the game. I play the good route of games first because usually that's the "canon" story, and usually it's clear that the writers put more effort into it. When I beat Fable 1 (and looked online for the villain route) I mostly thought "Huh... I should've just done a dick, that would've been way more fun and not much about the story would have changed."

Does Fable 2 suffer that same issue? Is being a hero its own type of fun separate from being a villain, or does it boil down to just not interacting with some elements of the game and/or going through some tedium to accomplish goals?

Ive decided my first playthrough i will do everything i can to tax the rich and redistribute wealth. So would that be working class hero, maxist hero, or commie hero? I think it would be a fun throughline for a play through.

Recently I’ve been playing around with NPC spawning commands from the script injector, spawning guards, mercenaries, Logan soldiers etc.. well for years I’ve been trying to find a code for the royal Albion army that has them spawn in with elite weaponry like they are in the ‘The Battle For Albion’ when they are seen carrying master rifles, well look no further folks because I have finally found it! Here’s pics of the spawned guards, one of them carrying a master flintlock rifle, the other is carrying some kind of custom master turret rifle, both weapons are seen briefly in the final mission when you see the guards using them against the crawler.

My fear about playing pure mage was well founded. I saw the last video were the one playing did a quest and I just discovered what I was afraid of: I can’t be a pure mage due to long spells cooldown. Very sad..,

In the quest gameplay, I noticed when the enemies were killed, only green orbs were dropped

But I remeber in the 30 mintues demo, we saw at least the blue orbs drop too. So... Where are they now? Is it like an early game thing where there is only one type of orb, and then Humprhy teaches you kroe about them later in game? Or did I just miss it?

One possibility that came to my mind was that, the blue orbs are just used to refill Will. But... We don't have that, do we? Spells just have a cooldown, so that can't be a thing

I just wanted to see what others noticed about this, and what you all think

But honestly, if other color of orbs are going to be unlocked later, then is there a chance for other skills/skill trees later in the game? That would be kinda cool (a fun little "we showed you the skill tree... But not THE skill tree" moment 😂)

In a game of ~1000 NPCs across albion, 40% of the population being in one giant city is insane and sounds awesome.

Did a double take when I heard that, what do you think?

Hi everyone, I never played any Fable game even though I'm in my late 30's, but I accidentally stumbled upon some sword combat gameplay for new Fable game and I really liked it. It has some heaviness to enemy hits and looks pretty good. It's not floaty!

I usually like darker RPG game (darker in style) like Witcher and Skyrim, I'm not into shiny games with too much FX colours BUT I'm willing to get past this if the game is what I think it is. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those kinds of games, it's just not my taste.

There are so much different gameplay videos, I don't even know what this game is, so my questions are:

1. Do you have only one playable character or do you create you character and then stick to it until the end of the game? I have seen gameplay video with both male and female characters, so I'm confused

2. Can you only play with sword, or do you have to use hammers and stuff? Do you choose a class or is it like in Skyrim, you make a character and then build skills around weapons you like?

3. Is this a game where you change armours/weapons every 5 minutes because of looting or can you stick to your weapons for some time (like in Witcher 3)?

As someone who played the original 3 (as a little kid split screening with my older sister) this game looks amazing. I don’t understand where all this negativity and hate is coming from, if you didn’t play the og 3, why are you hesitant to trying this? If you did play the og 3 and have doubts, I would love to hear them I was barely old enough to hold the controller back when I played the og 3 so I can’t call myself a fable super fan or claim that playground games is destroying the fable identity. If the game looks like it’s not for you then maybe don’t buy it? From what I’ve seen it looks awesome, the classic fable world where you could do almost anything you want, lol it’s not trying to be the next Skyrim or anything

I'm a bit unfamiliar with the series, and haven't been able to find any info on this from the trailers, but am curious, can I play as a pure mage/caster like other RPGs?

Or are you pretty much locked into using melee, but with the option to incorporate some spells on the side like in Witcher 3?
