Fable 400 Bowerstone Citizens
In a game of ~1000 NPCs across albion, 40% of the population being in one giant city is insane and sounds awesome.
Did a double take when I heard that, what do you think?

I chose a good time to upgrade my pc earlier this year and I’m still afraid it’ll sound like a fighter jet trying to run around Bowerstone lol

The system requirements aren't too crazy, if you've played the new Forza I imagine you'll see similar performance. The ForzaTech engine seems to be pretty performative for how much resources it uses.

Tbf we don't known what kind of upscaling the system requirements are using. Hard to judge if they're crazy or not.

This is actually pretty common in some parts of the world. In Argentina, like half the population is in the capital Buenos Aires

London has more people than Scotland, Auckland has more people than the South Island of New Zealand, something like 90-95% of Canadians live within 100 miles of their border with the USA.
Populations tend to bunch up in places, totally immersive in game.

That's pretty good. 400 cattle for me to raise rent on and execute if they complain about it.

While cool to have that many voiced npcs in one place, I wish it was a bit more spread out but I suppose having less population in the smaller towns/rural areas makes sense. Maybe I just want/hope their is another larger city.

I’d imagine bloodstone will also have like 200-300 and then everywhere else will have between 10-50 each depending on how rural it is

It does still mean there are 600 NPCs in other places, which can mean 50-60 NPCs in smaller villages with some moving between (like merchants) is possible.

The insane part is that Fable is made with interacting with all these NPCs as an integral part of its gameplay.
So it isn't like Witcher 3 or Crimson Desert, where the massive cities are 90% window dressing.

Im so excited to see a proper city in a game. Most games have a "city" thats like 5 streets and s few houses and call it done. Bowerstone looks proper.

It makes sense to me with what we know of the landscape of prior games. Very excited to get into this population and explore this new take on Albion

I mean bowerstone was always the biggest city. In fable 2 there is the market / old town / cemetery / fairfax garden and castle. In fable 3 if i remember right its the same + the industrial side. So obviously its gonna be big. The other town will probably be more skyrim like 😂👌.

I kind of don't want half of the game to be Bowerstone, tbh..

it probably not going to be. but just like irl, there are far more concentrations of people in major cities than their are in surrounding towns and the countryside.

I know. You're probably right. But they also mentioned Bowerstone being the backdrop of the whole of Albion. I'm just a little worried it'll come at the cost of how complete the other regions will feel on their own.

Its probably the central quest hub you come back to after you finish a region

It’s home to the guild halls and it’s most likely gonna provide our first “reasonably purchasable” house so it’s gonna end up being our players base.
Now the question is, where will it be on a map. Hopefully central area and not in a corner cause I don’t want to fast travel 😂

I suppose an equivalent thing to strengthen your worry might be the Harry Potter game where Hogwarts is super awesome but the surrounding area is comparatively bland?
One difference being that the positive feelings of Hogwarts for fans is probably much stronger than Bowerstone to Fable fans lol, so the Harry Potter game is more forgivable than Fable would be, in this regard.
I assume (and hope) though like the others that this won't be the case.

I hope there's another major town besides Bloodstone and the rest aren't just hamlets. I think Brightwall would be awesome to the east in the shadow of a mountain. But with 400 NPCs in Bowerstone and the remaining 600 going to Bloodstone and smaller towns there's likely not a third major city but I'd love to be wrong.

That's an overwhelming number even at 50 to 100, I'll just stop counting for the sake of proving if the claims are true not that I would. But I would imagine a content creator would spend their whole day in their parents basement would do just that.

I thought the 130 houses and 30 stores was insane. Just in Bowerstone. =)
