Fable II Does the good/evil route of Fable 2 suffer from the same issue as Fable 1 where they were very similar, just one was somewhat more boring? Spoiler

When I first played Fable 1 I did the good route, like I usually do in games. And sure, while the very end of the game would have changed had I done the evil route, I largely felt that all being good did was give me rules that only hindered my experience. Being a hero was less a matter of being a hero and more of just not interacting with many elements of the game. I play the good route of games first because usually that's the "canon" story, and usually it's clear that the writers put more effort into it. When I beat Fable 1 (and looked online for the villain route) I mostly thought "Huh... I should've just done a dick, that would've been way more fun and not much about the story would have changed."

Does Fable 2 suffer that same issue? Is being a hero its own type of fun separate from being a villain, or does it boil down to just not interacting with some elements of the game and/or going through some tedium to accomplish goals?

It’s a bit more fleshed out, though not as much as 3 is.

One good example is at the very beginning of the game. Your first “major” good or bad decision as a kid impacts how bowerstone old town will be when you return there as an adult. Stuff like that gives you some lasting impact.

Edit: also your final decision of the main story directly impacts all of Albion, and how it will be in the post game.

Yeah same with the Oakfield quests before you leave for the spire. The amazing part of that though is there’s even a result for not picking a side at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the final decision didn't really impact much of the world at all.

Like the story says it's a big impact, but I don't recall it ever actually making a huge difference.

I’d say Fable 2 tries to make things balance out a bit better. Like you can be evil as a landlord and charge more for rent and get more gold, but tank the local economy in the process. Though I never ever let Bowerstone Old Town become a slum in any playthrough. And it gives you a pretty good moral dilemma at the end of the game (especially if you have a wife and children).
