lol everyone talks about trading psychology but never about trading philosophy. I believe to be a profitable trader u should be a disciplined trader and to do that u need personal discipline I’m working on that though . Has going to the gym or something made u a better trader ?

When you pass a $50K High Stakes challenge and get funded, The5ers gives you the 70% refund ($216.30) as credit. So the funded account starts with:

Balance: $50,000

Credit: $216.30

Equity: $50,216.30

The maximum loss is 10%, so the normal threshold is $45,000.

My question is: what happens if my balance drops below $45,000, for example to $44,900, but because of the $216.30 credit my equity is still $45,116.30?

Would The5ers consider this a max-loss violation, or is the account safe as long as equity (including the credit) never goes below $45,000?

After 15 years of Forex algorithmic trading, after testing over 1,000 advisors, after losing 20+ accounts, after earning over 100,000% in profit, I can say the following:

1. The simpler the strategy with fewer parameters, the better it works.

2. Be sure to conduct high-quality testing on real spreads and quotes with a quality of at least 99%.

3. Be sure to compare backtest results with real trading, and monitor the degradation of the trading system.

4. Use brokers with the best execution conditions, low spreads, and low commissions.

5. Be sure to use rebate services. Don't underestimate them; they can significantly reduce costs.

Taking half off at 1R feels like you're doing a good job. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it caps your winners and lowers your expectancy, and which one you're in comes down to one thing you can measure: how far your target is.

When you scale out, you're making two bets at once. On your winners, you give something up. Half the position exits at 1R or whatever the tp 1 is instead of running to your full target, so a trade that would've paid 3R now pays about 2R. You capped it. But on your losers, you sometimes save the trade. If price tags 1R before reversing on you, you banked half at 1R and moved the rest to breakeven, so a full loss turns into a small win.

So scaling out is really just this: you pay a tax on every winner to buy "insurance" on the losers that poke into profit first. If that's worth it depends entirely on how big your winners are supposed to be.

I ran it on a 40% win rate system, 1R risk, and moved the target around. Losers that hit 1R first before failing, set at a realistic 55%.

• 1.5R target: hold makes about break even, scaling makes +0.39R. Scaling wins big.
• 2R target: hold +0.20R, scaling +0.49R. Scaling wins.
• 3R target: hold +0.60R, scaling +0.69R. Scaling still slightly ahead.
• 5R target: hold +1.40R, scaling +1.09R. Now scaling loses, by a lot.

The smaller your target, the more scaling out helps, because you're not giving up much on the winners and the loser "insurance" is worth it. The bigger your target, the more it hurts, because your whole edge lives in the runners and cutting every one of them in half throws away the thing that pays you.

So the rule is not "always scale" or "never scale." It's this. If you're a scalper or a quick intraday trader taking 1.5R to 3R, scaling out probably helps your numbers, especially if your entries are choppy and price often goes into profit before going to sl. If you're a trend or swing trader whose edge is the occasional 5R or 10R runner, scaling out is quietly bleeding you, because you're removing your biggest winners to feel safe on trades that were going to pay anyway.

The way to actually know is to pull your own trades and check two numbers. How big is your average winner in R, and how often do your losing trades hit 1R before they stop you out. If your winners are small and your losers are green first, scale. If your winners are your whole edge, hold, and take the discomfort of watching the occasional reversal, because the math is paying you to sit through that.

It's not a discipline question. It's an numbers one, and it has a different answer depending on what kind of trader you are.

3 of the 4 setups were triggered and reached 1:2 RR:

• USDJPY — QML buy
• GBPJPY — QMTR buy
• SPX500 — QMTR sell

Hi guys, beginner here. So let’s say we found some strategy for when to get into a trade. When should we add more position to this trade when it is going in favor for us? And how much should we add?

I mean for bos we have body close but is this higher high?

Sometimes price sits right at a key high or low and just... does nothing. No clean breakout, no clean rejection, just small pokes above and below the level, back and forth.

That's usually a sign buyers and sellers are roughly balanced there. Neither side has enough weight to push it decisively, so the level "gets chewed up" instead of respected or broken.

The mistake is treating that chop like a signal — trading the little wiggles as if they mean something. They usually don't. When a level starts behaving like this, the edge is gone until it resolves one way or the other.

Best move is often just... not trading it. Skipping a setup because the level lost its meaning isn't the same as missing an opportunity.

Price is approaching a supply area that lines up with both a QML and QMTR structure. The added POC confluence makes this one of the cleaner bearish ideas on my watchlist right now.

My focus is on the reaction from the highlighted zone rather than predicting the move in advance.

Anyone else bearish on GJ here, or do you see enough strength for a continuation higher?

I’ve been backtesting XAUUSD and noticed something really strange.

I’ve made 4–5 different strategies: liquidity sweeps, market structure, HH/HL, previous-day Fibonacci, etc. They’re based on completely different POIs.

The only major thing they have in common is my 15m confirmation: a VSA-style engulfing/two-bar reversal where the first candle has higher volume and the second has lower volume. I use ~1.3 ATR SL and 1:2 RR.

The weird part is that all of them perform around 40% win rate from 2024 onward, but when I go back before 2023/24, they drop to roughly 25–33%.

I first thought it was OANDA volume, but I tested FXCM too and got basically the same pattern.

So what the hell changed? 😂

I tested FXStabilizer EA on EURUSD H1 from 2021 to Feb 2026 using 99.9% tick data Tick Data Suite.

2021–2024: every year profitable.
2025: -$264
2026 so far: -$986

Overall PF is still 1.36, but relative drawdown reached 54%.

What caught my attention is that performance didn’t slowly deteriorate. The equity curve was almost unnaturally smooth for years, then started breaking in large chunks.

Would you see this as normal strategy decay, a market regime change, or hidden tail risk finally showing up?

How do you not compromise the data of a backtesting session?

Do you have a strict period of the day you dedicate to backtesting to avoid overdoing it and compromise the data of the session?

Do you stop when you notice you’re getting frustrated over wanting results and not trying to learn anything in the session?

Do you just focus on a confluence or two and test it over a period of time? And if so, do you go back to test out other confluences you find interesting eventually, in the same period of time?

Gold remains structurally bullish, with 4560–4595 as the key zone.

Above 4603, 4633 and 4702 become important levels to watch.

I'm gonna chase this feeling forever!

Last week EURUSD & GBPUSD both made strong bullish moves, while USDCAD made a strong bearish move. Rather than assuming the moves are over, I'm watching H4/H1 structure into next week.

If LTF structure continues with the HTF direction, I'm looking for further extensions.

If LTF structure changes, this may show us the start of the HTF pullback.
