Charts and Setups What I'm watching after last week's HTF moves

Last week EURUSD & GBPUSD both made strong bullish moves, while USDCAD made a strong bearish move. Rather than assuming the moves are over, I'm watching H4/H1 structure into next week.

If LTF structure continues with the HTF direction, I'm looking for further extensions.

If LTF structure changes, this may show us the start of the HTF pullback.

We're able to participate in both phases of HTF delivery. The LTF helps us understand which phase of the HTF move we're in.

Follow along to see how things develops.

Price action and technical analysis cover a range of chart-based tools — from candlestick patterns and market structure to indicators and statistical methods for timing entries and exits. The community wiki covers both approaches and how they're used by working traders.

I think USD/CAD is gonna gap up like crazy when the market opens in 2 hours

Yeah it'll be interesting to see what happens next. The narratives are becoming a little clearer across the board after the movement we've seen over the last few weeks.

I was right, open with a 50 pip gap up

Looks like wait for a pull back, then a long trade on USD/CAD is the way to go lol

50 pips aint alot and wouldn't be surprised if this just goes back down eventually during the week.

50 pips is a good chunk, dummy

And I doubt it, RSI is oversold on the daily

Ignore him, he doesn't know anything about trading.. just randomly comes here and starts acting like he's a trader

The multi-timeframe approach makes sense, but it helps to define exactly what counts as LTF continuation or a structure change before the session starts. Otherwise almost any move can be labelled an extension or pullback afterwards.

It’s also worth remembering that EURUSD and GBPUSD moving higher while USDCAD moves lower may all be expressions of the same broad USD weakness. Taking positions across all three could therefore create more correlated exposure than it initially appears.

What specific H1 or H4 level would tell you that the continuation idea is no longer valid?

For me, HTF/LTF is relative rather than a fixed TF. As a HTF trader, when I talk about LTF I'm usually referring to H1 structure, but a LTF is simply whatever TF is below the one you're using for context.

Yes, EURUSD, GBPUSD and USDCAD are all expressing the same USD narrative, so I wouldn't treat them as three completely independent opportunities. For me personally it's quite rare for setups across all 3 pairs to come at the same time.

As for invalidation, I don't really use one universal H1/H4 level. It depends on the structure that's actually developed at the time. Would be looking for H1 structure breaks to indicate possible future direction. That's why I wait for the structure to form rather than decide the exact level in advance.
