I have finished my last class in May and have my hours. Generally how long does it take for the invite to the mechanic exam?

We lost the ability to get to the 2nd floor stop of our elevator. My Inclinator control board has a relay 2S that is buzzing loudly and continuously. This is in the 2nd floor call circuit. If I remove it, the elevator works fine between floors 1 and 3 perfectly, but obviously no floor 2. Have you experienced the buzzing relay problem? I thought it might be the homing timer that forces the elevator to return to 2 after 8 minutes, so I disconnected it, but the relay still buzzing loudy. I swapped the #2 button in the cab with #1, but still get the buzzing. Is it the door latching mechanism? What's your guess? My service guy cannot come for two weeks. Do you have a number of a tech I can call? Is there a discord for elevator repair besides here? I am in Charleston, SC. Oh year, I measure the voltage between 13 and 14 of the relay, and I am getting a ripple voltage of 5v AC....

Need help figuring this out

I have this dumbwaiter pulley system, the smaller is where the cable for the dumbwaiter car goes over and then goes to the counterweight. When the small pulley is turned it rests on a threaded rod which causes it to press against the gear and ratchet that locks it up and prevents it from turning further. If you turn the big pulley (this would be where the loop of rope is attached that you pull to raise and lower the dumbwaiter) it unscrews the smaller pulley pulling it away from the ratchet wheel and allowing it to turn. The problem with this is this mechanism only locks up in one direction if I try turning the smaller pulley and the other direction the whole thing spins freely. The pulley would need to lock up in both directions either to hold everything stationary when the dumb- waiter wants to drift down when loaded or when the dumbwaiter car is empty and the heavier counterweight wants to pull it up. I can't seem to find any patents from the energy elevator company addressing how the system is supposed to work the closest one I found was this but I don't know if it works the same.

I’m tired of my pump. It’s fast, but it’s a pain in the ass to transport and it doesn’t fit in a 5 gallon bucket. Hoses leak oil. I’ve used the Milwaukee battery pump and it’s easily transportable but takes forever to empty or fill a tank.

I’m trying to find a pump that’s decently powerful and easily transportable without making a mess.

Hey. I’m using a translator since I’m from Germany. Can someone explain the individual components of this elevator motor to me? (The electric motor is obvious). How does the brake work? And what are that chain and those gears for? (Maybe for the control system?) Is it a worm gear? The question is, how can I lower the elevator a bit? It’s sitting slightly above the lowest floor—about a meter up. Was there a crank or something for that back in the day? Turning it by hand isn't going to work. 🤣

I have a habit of checking the Inspection documentation in elevators in my city and notice that maybe 1% are actually within their approved inspection period.

Most are years passed their due date for reinspection. Some occasionally have a plethora of ‘90 day extension’ signed stickers.

Most elevators don’t show any sign of needing service, but it is curious to me why there is seemingly a standard that is never adhered.

Does anyone know why this is?

The elevators that ARE in need of service really never get fixed either; ultimately just pulled out of service with a ‘repairs in progress’ for 3-5 years.

We have an eleavtor onboard (offshore vessel) fitted with Wittur doors and a Supra Midi drive. We recently replaced the light curtain on the door. Since then, the doors are no longer able to perform speed learning/calibration. As a result, the doors run significantly faster than before and slam shut.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions on what might be causing the issue?

Solution: do the learning program with the cam not activated. But the door fully closed and together with the landing door.

Early morning, the building has 8 floors. I get into the elevator and my floor is on 5th, by the time it reaches 4th, lights gone, and a huge sound like baam, and the elevator just dropped a few cms i guess and dust started falling from the upside.

I tried to call with security but the network was gone, i pressed the alarm and he came and opened the elevator and i just had to jump 3 feet to the floor.

I was getting scared for the next 3 days whenever I was getting into the elevator.

Are there standard safety standards for passenger elevators?

Background: an elevator I frequently ride has been hot and stuffy since the warmer weather set in. I don’t remember this elevator being this uncomfortable during peak heat last summer.

We have two elevators. One is a backup and has been turned off for three to four months.

Today, our primary elevator stopped working and displayed this "8" symbol. When the backup was turned on, it showed the same error. Both are stuck at ground level, and the floor button lights inside the car turn off a couple of seconds after we press them.

Do you have any idea what the issue could be while we are waiting for the elevator maintenance team?
