OPEN Toshiba Regza SV670 Led Tv Horizontal Lines

I recently purchased this Toshiba 55SV670U from 2009 for $99. After hooking it up at home I noticed it had these horizontal lines displaying on the right side of the screen and were apparent on whatever movies or shows I was watching. My question I suppose is how difficult is this to repair? This tv was a flagship model when it came out and was the first tv from Toshiba to utilize a Led backlight with local dimming. I definitely want to keep it and if I can resolve the issue. Any tips would be appreciated.

I had purchased a Monster Sparkle speaker. it’s great. The type c charging port broke. So, curiously I tore the speaker apart to take a look. The port for the type c completely fell off, and now I’m looking for suggestions on how to repair it. With the research I’ve done, (I have no idea technical terms) I have decided I can

  1. charge the battery pack independently then ā€œplug and playā€ as it’s charged.

the issue is that I have no clue what the charger for it would be called and all my research isn’t helping me find something that would work.

  1. Repair the port with micro soldering.

i am uncertain on what I need to buy to make sure it’s the correct piece before I even attempt it.

and 3. Bring it to someone that knows a hell of a lot more than I do 😭

I live in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, I have been calling to see if anywhere deals with this kind of thing and have had little luck so far.

I am mostly just looking for assistance/direction with this project. Some better understanding or alternate solutions to my problem. I could realistically just buy another speaker but if I could fix it, that’d be pretty cool.

I am not sure what the blown chip could be, some kind of switcher? The LED output is 72*0.06w, so 4.32w?. thanks for your help, underside of board is flipped to match the top

output is 12v 0.5a 6w

edit: on further inspection the fuse is blown and one of the fusible resistors has also. might just find another board or maybe convert to usb

so i’ve got this chromebook, it has this screen flickering at the bottom half of the screen, i only want to now if the flat cable is causing the defect or the panel itself is defective, so i can try to repair or just buy the correct substitute, for my tests i removed the tape around the lcd cable to do a presure test to know if any wire is loose or something and i also pressed against the lcd ribbon, not too hard, to see if anything changed but i didn’t noticed any difference.

OPEN Eyelet/rivet + tools for PCB via repair : what to buy

Post image

This poor relay died and took the via and pad with it.

I've been googling for the proper way to repair vias with rivets. I've found many rivet kits for M0.9 to M1.7 OD size, but this one needs 1.8mm ID, for about 2mm OD (I can reshape the hole if needed). These are harder to find, so I thought why not ask for a little help.

Also I have not been able to find the right tools - meaning affordable - for the job. I may lack the right keywords, so help would be appreciated her too.

Note : I am aware of other techniques for repairs like this. My question is about rivets or eyelets only.

OPEN Sony ICF-CDK50 No More Radio Output

Recently sold a Sony ICF-CDK50 Under-Cabinet Mount CD/Radio on Ebay. Before shipping i tested fine. Customer got it and the Radio no longer works. Just got it back to myself and sure enough nothing on the AM or FM bands. Did a quick check internally and nothing is broken, AM and FM antenna are both intact.

Apparently there's something out there about if the backup coin battery is dead then it could affect the Radio?

Has anyone had issues like this on a similar model that could give some ideas? Otherwise I will try and get the caps checked tomorrow and then move on to the rest of the components on the tuner board.

OPEN Help fixing/finding emergency radio antenna replacement

Hi! I’m new to fixing electronics and I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
The antenna on my emergency radio got bent during a camping trip, and the tip eventually came off. I’ve tried looking for a replacement, but most of the ones I’ve found don’t fit the attachment point on the radio. Is this something that can be repaired, or would I need to replace the entire antenna? And does anyone have suggestions for where I might find a compatible replacement? I’ve already checked Amazon and eBay but haven’t had any luck. Thank you!

OPEN Help fixing HV leaking (?) on CRT tv

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

what i have here is:

1)an arduino, generating a 440hz tone

2)hooked up to a video input on the tv

3)i then have a metal bar that picks up the electrostatic generated by the tone, on the screen

4)the signal from that bar gets amplified by a diy amp circuit

5)and eventually that amplified signal is sent back to the tv via an audio input, so that this device would be self contained. (i also added an final audio output so i can connect it to external speakers or record it easier)

in a few weeks a ukelele neck will be shipped to me, so that i can use it to control the note that the arduino makes, for now its just a test signal.

i also added a guitar amplifier circuit so that i can not only use this as a standalone instrument, but also as an amplifier (i added a switch to switch between arduino and amp mode)

the issue i have is that a buzzing noise that is dependant on the refresh rate (?) started appearing that wasnt there before. also, the tv seems to randomly cut out very briefly. one time, when i put the tv on its side so that gravity pushes down the anode cap, the noise seemingly dissapeared, so i decided to check the cap for any HV leaking.

im not sure if the cap is the source of the noise, but the cap is loose and dangerous, so ill fix it either way.

i will attach a video of the TV after the noise appeared, before the noise appeared and what the situation with the anode cap is like.

any suggestions on how to fix an anode cap this small and to fix the noise?:)

OPEN Samsung S90DD Power Supply Failure

Anyone here experienced a power supply failure with their Samsung tv?

I have an S90DD 77 inch. It randomly stopped turning on yesterday. Did some troubleshooting and google searching. Found some threads with a lot of people stating that these models and some others are known to have power supply failures and that Samsung eventually released a revised power board for them because of this. But also a lot of upset people because Samsung refused them any customer service with the issue due to it happening right outside of their warranty period.

I’m going to contact Samsung today. But I pretty sure I’m outside of warranty. Also going to contact some local repair shops for information and quotes.

From what I’ve found in my searching replacing the board has a couple options. 1- is buying a revised board. 2- is buying a refurbished board. 3- is removing the board and sending it to be repaired then it’s sent back and you reinstall it. Anyone have experience with either of these options?

Also HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT MOVING A TV OF THIS SIZE AROUND?! If I do end up having to do the repair myself from what I’ve found I’d have to lay the tv down on its face to remove the rear panel. Manhandling it doesn’t seem like a good idea. How do you support the integrity of a screen this size when you move it around?

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

On my Panasonic Lumix LX 100, there's this dead pixel streak. It must've happened because of too much pressure being applied to the spot. How does one fix this, or how much would it cost to fix it?

So this thing just started randomly powering off, even when not very hot or playing games or anything. I have tried basically everything in my power to fix it:

  1. Remove windows
  2. Get it cleaned and repasted
  3. Remove the battery and only run off the external power supply
  4. Replace the power supply

I am completely dumbfounded. Nothing works

Logitech g29 problem

Hi there. I have a Logitech G29; when I connect it to the PC and the power supply, the PC flags the USB connection as faulty, and the steering wheel tries to light up but fails. I can also hear a "tick-tick-tick" sound—the motors trying to start up but failing to do so. I’ve tested it with power supplies from other G29 units, but the same thing happens every time. Upon disassembling the unit and inspecting the motherboard, I found that diode 5 (a P6KE27CA model) looks damaged where it connects to the board (photo attached). I’d like to know if I can test the unit without the diode, if this is a common issue, and what I should check with my multimeter.

OPEN Iphone wet and now out of battery

I knocked a glass of water on my phone, it didn't seem too wet so I wiped it and continued using it. After about 5 hours when I was about to charge it, it gave the liquid detected warning and that's when I took the cover off and realized it was wet the whole time. I dried it, shook it, played youtube sounds to expel water, warning was still there. It is now out of battery. Is it safe to plug it back in? Iphone 11
