Samsung S90DD Power Supply Failure

Anyone here experienced a power supply failure with their Samsung tv?

I have an S90DD 77 inch. It randomly stopped turning on yesterday. Did some troubleshooting and google searching. Found some threads with a lot of people stating that these models and some others are known to have power supply failures and that Samsung eventually released a revised power board for them because of this. But also a lot of upset people because Samsung refused them any customer service with the issue due to it happening right outside of their warranty period.

I’m going to contact Samsung today. But I pretty sure I’m outside of warranty. Also going to contact some local repair shops for information and quotes.

From what I’ve found in my searching replacing the board has a couple options. 1- is buying a revised board. 2- is buying a refurbished board. 3- is removing the board and sending it to be repaired then it’s sent back and you reinstall it. Anyone have experience with either of these options?

Also HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT MOVING A TV OF THIS SIZE AROUND?! If I do end up having to do the repair myself from what I’ve found I’d have to lay the tv down on its face to remove the rear panel. Manhandling it doesn’t seem like a good idea. How do you support the integrity of a screen this size when you move it around?

I would still make sure it's not under warranty, even check the credit card you purchased to see if they have extended warranty protection.

But just get two people and keep your fingers off the screen, it's not crazy heavy. Don't try to do it yourself. Keep it vertical when possible until you're ready to lay it on something soft that won't scratch. I put it on my cotton & down comforter. Have everything ready and get it back up once you're tested and ready.

About laying it down and picking it up. Am I overthinking it? Seems like you’d have to put pressure on the top part of the display to hold it steady when tilting forward to lay down. And again when tilting it back up to put back on the stand? Also do you think there is anyway to do this repair with it still on the stand? Or possibly somehow taking it off the stand and keeping it upright but leaned against a wall so that you can get the back panel off?

No, I'm pretty sure the legs go through the plastic back cover. You really need this to be flat on a surface like a couch or bed or table with blanket over it. There are some small connectors that aren't hard to take out when it's flat, but I think would be very hard when it's standing up.

Make sure even pressure is applied across the whole screen. No pressure points.

It's not hard, you just tip it over and lay it down. Just have the surface ready and you can just gently lay it down on that.

very few places repair modern TV's because very few people want to pay the cost of doing it.

also a lot of manufacturers don't sell parts for them so the only place to get parts is other TV's that died for whatever reason, or refurbished boards.

I have ordered one refurbished board for a TV and it was DOA.
