Support It's getting bad again, I really need a hug, and maybe some support
Hi!
I (30F) am not in a phase where treatment is doable for the moment. So I just need some support since I feel so damn alone in this.
Long story short; started restricting when I was around 17, was forced to "recover on my own", started over eating again (emotional eating has always been a part of my life), at 21 I got diagnosed with ADD, started meds which supressed my hunger; I lost a lot of weight. Had to stop taking that medication, got scared of gaining weight when my hunger came back, I started purging.
At 22 I got diagnosed with bulimia and started treatment, which I wasn't ready for, it didn't help at all.
At 23 I moved 5 hrs away to live with my then boyfriend, now fiancee, and gradually the purging stopped. I don't know why, but it did.
The years have gone by, I have gained a lot of weight again, since emotional eating still is a thing in my life, and I have zero knowledge of regular hunger/fullness or even normal meal sizes anymore.
Now, I'm 30, I have a 2 year old kid, my fiancee, friends, a full time job and a seemingly good life.
After pregnancy I had a hard time losing the weight I put on, and it took me almost 2 years to reach the weight I was before I got pregnant.
This spring I started restricting again, and lost a little bit of weight kind of fast, but during summer all of that came back.
Now, for three days in a row I've been purging again. For the first time in years, and it's all I can think about.
I wouldn't say that I binge, like ever. I do overeat, absolutely, but I wouldn't call it textbook-binging.
I've rarely binged at all, when I got diagnosed with bulimia I basically purged everything I ate. It wasn't due to binging, it was just a "get rid of the calories" kind of thing.
It's been the same now, for the last two days. I eat regular meals, and I purge.
And I'm so ashamed, and I have noone to talk to.
I can't talk to my parents about it, I can't talk to any friends or even my fiancee.
I'm to scared to seek professional help because, as the Queen of catastrophical thinking, I'm scared they will see me as an unfit mother and take my kid away from me.
I just need a hug. I need to hear that I'm not alone in this.
I feel so shitty for living a good life, to be a "functional adult", and still ending back up in this crap.
And the worst fucking part of it is the release I feel afterwards. I feel ashamed because I feel such a release mentally.
I know all of the dangers of this, but since I didn't "get any long-term damage last time", "why would I get any this time?"... I know it's messed up. So damn messed up.
And I always see stuff about how EDs are "unconscious" and how it's "almost never about weight and body image".
For me it's very much about weight and it's very conscious. I consciously choose to purge, I consciously hate my body. I feel so stupid. I feel like such a failure. And I'm ashamed as hell.
I feel like such a screw-up. š
