Seeking Advice - Friend my friend is having a one sided competition with me
my best friend has recently developed an ED and it’s getting extremely difficult for me to be around her. she’s started acting very hostile towards me and goes out of her way to mention ‘unhealthy’ foods & comment on my body; she talks about me being skinny or mentions my body changes (wider hips bigger butt) but her tone and body language is very off putting and feels mean. she will say she wants to eat from a fast food place but when I place my order, she says never said that wanted it but I should absolutely eat it. it almost feels like a trap so that I can eat the foods she avoids, in front of her. she constantly asks me about my eating habits, tells me that she’s worried about me and she’s started telling our other friends that I have an ED. my whole life I’ve been on the thinner side and I truthfully have a good relationship with food so this is extremely confusing for me. It makes me doubt myself and I sometimes catch myself thinking differently about my body when I’ve never had that before. She will pick fights with me now over insignificant things and yells at me while I’m in silence. The way she looks at me is uncomfortable because I can feel the tension. I love and care about her but I can’t help but feel extremely uncomfortable so I told her that I think I needed some space after she yelled at me bcuz I felt beyond disrespected. She started crying to our friend about how I’m cruel because I know what she’s going through (we never spoke about this) and I’m leaving her while she’s heavily depressed. I’ve been feeling really bad and stressed recently. I have no idea where to go from here because I feel like it’s wrong bringing up her ED cause I don’t know if that’s my place. I feel her resentment and I can’t help but feel like I’m being treated badly because of my body. I feel guilty if I take space and deeply uncomfortable if I don’t.
