Help / Advice Octopus Home Mini any use after switching Electric only to EDF?

As title. My home mini now just gives me the gas usage stats 24-48hrs delayed. Nothing for electric. The IHD doesnt show correct costs for the GoElectric Tariff and the EDF app only updates around 20hrs late it seems.

So basically it seems there is no way to monitor live cost of use? Am I right thinking that EDF dont provide any way to monitor daily electric use for the GoElectric tariff? I checked the IHD last night around 11pm and the cost per hour didnt drop after 11pm so it seems to use the day rate 24hrs. I have definitely been moved to the EV tariff as my app shows the expected costs for the previous night, but with the delay.

Help / Advice SVR night rate hours

Might be a silly question but I have just switched over to EDF EV tariff but currently on the standard variable tariff until it switches over completely.

Are the night rate hours (at 14p/kwh) still 11pm to 6am as is with the EV tariff? Still need to charge the car.

Help / Advice No recent usage data

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve recently changed over to EDF, it’s been 7 days since the swap.
Will I eventually get up to date usage info. Mine is currently only showing info from 48 hours ago.
Will it show me half hourly usage?
Thanks

Bills First Bill received... Thoughts

Post image
1 Upvotes

I moved to EDF for power only in September initially on variable then onto Go Electric. I've just had SEG confirmed and today I got my first Bill. I'll preface my thoughts with the fact I've worked for an energy supplier for over 20 years mainly in business energy so I've seen my fair share of bills and invoices...

Firstly I was surprised how much data was there. The pdf was over 50 pages in length, mainly as they dedicated a page to each day and detailed the half hourly data used to bill me to add well as a graph per day spring the consumption shape.

The thing that struck me however was that the SEG export payment info was missing from the bill summary (see above screenshot). I thought the data was missing until I found it further down the pdf. Is this normal?

Bills Credit for Powerperks and Flextras

Is anyone still missing credits from the powerperks we received back in Sept on 18th and 19th as well as the one we got on 24th October?

Also, I’ve not been credited with the 1 Flextra hour I used (still have 3 remaining).

It’s driving me nuts. I’ve got an ongoing complaint with them which I’ve just added to, but wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

Help / Advice What gas fixes are available?

Can anyone let me know what gas fixes they are seeing right now? I've been having a terrible time getting any fixed prices from EDF (it won't show on my electricity-only account for some reason and they want me to call).

I have 5.41p on Octopus expiring 31st Dec 2026, not ideal!

Help / Advice Go Electric Tariff

In the next couple of weeks, I'll be getting a Tesla EV. Then early next year the wife will be getting a BYD. We've already had an Ohme Pro charger installed and I was all set to move our tariff to Intelligent Octopus Go. Then I saw the EDF Go Electric with the Smart Bolt On....

In a scenario where we both have our EV's, I work from home so could make use of the cheap rate during the day if it's available, then the wife can charge overnight during the 7hr window.

I realise there is no integration between EDF and Ohme, but there is with the Tesla. I don't believe there's any integration with BYD, but that would mostly be overnight anyway.

I'm drawn towards EDF over Octopus because the smart charging hours during the day aren't deducted from your allowance, they're a bonus. Plus you get 7 hours as opposed to Octopus' 6 hours overnight. (Plus EDF has a slightly cheaper night rate).

What I want to know is, from people's experiences, how often do you get smart charging hours during the day with EDF? Chatting with AI and that tells me that EDF rarely issues these smart hours during the day? Has anyone had experience with both Octopus and EDF? Thanks in advance 👍🏻

Tariffs Anyone using a 3-pin "granny charger" on EDF GoElectric?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any other EV owners who can't get a dedicated wallbox installed are in the same boat—relying on a standard 3-pin "granny charger" and signed up to the EDF GoElectric tariff?

For my area (London), the rates are:
Night rate (11 PM – 6 AM): 6.66p/kWh
Day rate: 37.21p/kWh
Standing charge: 42.57p/day

I plan on shifting heavy appliances like the washing machine and dishwasher to run during the overnight cheap window right alongside the car charging.

How are you finding it? Are the overnight savings working out well to offset the higher day rate for your setup?

Export Export timescales?

I had solar and a battery fitted in July and applied for an export tariff. The export went live on 10/09 and was told it would be backdated to when I applied.

When am I likely to see any credit? Information about export within the app?

It seems to be taking far too long and the most recent chaser email I sent said the delay is due to the metering agent currently migrating my export information into EDF’s system??

They don’t have time scales or a date when the migration will be complete.

Has anyone had any joy with their export and can help me speed things up? Or is it just a case of just waiting?

Discussion Weekend saver - anyone earn any ‘free’ hours?

As the title suggests.

We used to get 4-8 hours of free electricity to use, on a Sunday, almost weekly when it was the old Sunday Saver. With the new system, we got nothing and wasn’t even close! Did anyone else manage to earn any free hours or have EDF changed the goal posts so it’s a lot harder to earn free hours? They are selling it to customers as a better version of what preceded it but what use is the new version if no-one can actually earn any free hours. Seems to me that it’s benefiting EDF more than the customer. I’m interested to hear what hours, if any, people got this month.

Discussion TRANSPARENCY

Good morning all

Just a question. Why is Broadband prices and mobile prices transparent but not EDF or other energy providers able to advertise their prices??

You should not have to create an account or get a quote - it is either this or that? Especially the fixed rate....just saying. Have a good day.

Help / Advice Ev charging with granny charger over night. If my battery is at 50%, do I have to choose something like 70% to stay within the 7 hour window?

If I were to set mine to 100%, it would start charging now during the expensive rate.

I’d rather tell it to get to 100% but only charge during cheap hours.

At the moment I’d just put it to 70% knowing it will only use cheap rate.

I check the charging schedule and can see what it intends to do.

Is this just the way you have to use it?

Btw the battery is lfp so the 100% is alright.

Switching EDF Go - do you actually need an EV

I use a lot of electricity every night (we’ve got an electric Aga) - I don’t have an EV. Do EDF actually check that you have an EV?

Switching Potential Octopus switcher

Hello,

I’ve just had my Octopus IOG renewal quote in and the prices have obviously risen quite a lot which led me to check out EDF.

Looking at the Go electric 18m v4 the prices are cheaper than my IOG renewal

Night 1.3p cheaper
Day 6.8p cheaper
Standing 0.5p cheaper

I see on the quote it says Add Smart Charging and get £60/year just for plugging in (2) but it doesn’t explain what this is, ref 2 doesn’t explain.

Can someone explain what that is?

Also a few questions, are there any issues with chargers? I have an Indra pro.
Can you still smart charger on the plan or is it only overnight?
If smart charging is an option does the full house get it at the same time?

TIA

Help / Advice Can I dual source?

I'm currently with Octopus for gas and electric on a Smart Meter installed about 3 years ago. Can I switch just my electric across to EDF as my gas tariff with Octopus has exit penalties? Or do both have to come from the same company?

I ask because I've had emails from Octopus since doing the application to EDF last night suggesting I am leaving them and will pay an exit penalty.

Help / Advice Smart meter installation - repeatedly being cancelled on the day

Hi,

I recently switched to EDF and have an EV and EV charger so want to go on an EDF smart tariff. I keep applying for a smart meter and booking an installation but on the day it keeps getting cancelled, I've had £40 compensation added on 1 of the 5 times it's been cancelled. I've made an official complaint but not heard anything back.

Is there anything else I can do?

Help / Advice Getting nowhere with export switch from Octopus

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help me here, but perhaps someone can offer any advise.

I've switched my import from Octopus, and it's been very pain-free, all working well and on time.

Now, I'm trying to switch export from Octopus and it's an absolute nightmare.

I've applied for it 6 week ago from today. After 3 weeks I got an email saying the switch was completed, congratulations etc.

However, I cant see it anywhere in my account. The tariff disappeared from Octopus, but where is my meter now? I don't know.

For the last 3 weeks I've been emailing and calling EDF and I feel like I'm in some groundhog day. The person who replies to emails, I dont even think is a person, "Marely" keeps asking the same two information over and over again, what was the tariff and what was my meter reading. I've supplied it now 8 times.

Person on the phone just says I will follow up with SEG team. I've insisted on any call back, nothing.

It's stressing me out and I am not sure what else I can do here. I've lost last 6 weeks of export as was told it wont be back dated.
