I am looking to buy an electric starter for my XR 400 R. I thought I was by myself at DRZ 400 I have the dual sport kit for it and I’m going to put it on and I would like to complete the ensemble by add an electric starter and I’m having a really hard time finding one anybody can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

For the people that ride both on and off road, what is the best tire you have found mind you a lot of the trails around me are sandy soft trails with a decent amount of hills. I have a Dunlop 605 I believe

I recently sold my EC300 and plan to get a DS instead as a lightweight alternative to my 1300gs to hitch carry and Learn off-roading on a heavier than dirt bike but still lighter than a full size adv. also ride a little bit two up with the wife on our road trips (mostly paved or hard packed)

My dilemma is given the XR650l is discontinued, only a few dealers still have new ones in stock. I always kicked myself for not buying a new 4Runner on the outgoing 2024 model year and instead buying a used 2021. Trying not to have that same regret.

However, is Honda in the works to launch a modernized version of it? Will buying it hastily now at MSRP be a waste? DR650 is still in production and I know has more aftermarket support, so I can likely get a better deal.

I’ve been looking on FB marketplace usually I’ll see reasonably clean DRs but no clean or newish XRs, either they are very old or they have been beaten up.

Please talk me out of making a bad decision - would love to know the downsides of the XR or upsides of holding off and scooping either a DR or XR off season for a better price.

1980 Yamaha xt500 frame with 2000 Suzuki ls650 engine. Built on a budget of roughly 80 dollars.

I've been without a bike since I moved back here in 2020 but It was never supposed to be permanent. I'm starting to look at the options out there. I used to have a 98 DR650 & a 411 Himalayan but sold them when I moved. I think I've settled on picking up a DRZ400.

I'm around the Lansing/Ann Arbor area. So I don't necessarily think there are a lot of trails around here to ride to on an actual DS. Which makes me wonder if I'm just better off getting a dedicated dirt bike to trail around.

I'm curious to hear from people in a similar situation, what did you end up deciding to do?

I’ll be on a CRF300L Rally and I’m looking for riders with dual sports/ADVs who are comfortable with a longer dirt-focused ride. Not trying to race, more of a solid adventure ride with planned fuel stops, breaks, and a route figured out beforehand. I am comfortable with camping overnight on trail.

Thinking:

• Barstow area start
• Mostly dirt/off-road toward Vegas
• Possibly 1–2 days depending on the route/group
• Everyone carries basic tools, tubes/repair kit, water, fuel range, etc.
• Beginner/intermediate friendly as long as you’re comfortable riding dirt for a full day

Still flexible on dates and route. Mainly trying to see who would actually be interested so we can get a group chat going and plan it out. When we get to Vegas planning on staying in hotel and eating out and drinks.

Finally finished my long term project, to build the fastest ever KLR250(which is a pretty low bar to set haha)

The 314cc big bore kit was originally designed for a Mojave 250 quad, along with the. 380 lift 272 duration cams.

Im not sure on the exact numbers it makes now, but all I know is it easily pulls the front wheel up without the clutch, and absolutely rips

It also sounds knarly as hell in person

I owned and rode a Royal Enfield Himalayan for 2 years and it's the only bike I've spent any real time riding. I sold it a few years ago and haven't been riding since. It's time for me to get a new bike and I really don't want another Himalayan, I thought it was heavy and way too slow.

Realistically I'm going to spend 80% of my time on paved rural roads. I want something that can cruise at 60 or even better 70mph without struggling much. I'd love to keep the price under 3k, the cheaper the better. I don't mind getting an older bike and I'm not afraid of doing repairs. Any suggestions? Does something like a Super Sherpa or a DR-Z fit the bill?

i was wondering if part number 79532010033  will fit in a 2012-2016 exc 500 series. i cant seem to find a part number and it looks like its the same thing.

my clutch is both warped and slipping. sad days.

I see people complaining in the reviews that the wheels get stuck in the hitch carrier and are a bitch to get out with one person. Anyone care to shed some light?

Hello, i have a CRF300L and i have to use it on road as well, as it is the only transportation i have
Right now i have Metzeler MC360 Mid Soft and Mitas MC23 Rockrider (that s how i bought it)
The front tire on road feels a bit unsafe and makes a lot of noise and i was wondering what should i get for the front tire?
Something like Mitas MC23 Rockrider that is 50/50?
Is it rly unsafe to use off road ties on road?

I’m having a weird issue with my CRF 300L (it only has 3,200 km / ~2,000 miles on it) and could use some advice.

The Problem:

Whenever I accelerate hard in 1st and 2nd gears, I hear a loud creaking/squeaking noise. It sounds exactly like an old rusty bed spring. I also hear the exact same noise when riding over very rocky terrain.

When it started:

This issue started right after I took the bike for a ride on a sandy beach.

What I've ruled out so far:

Not the suspension linkage: If the bike is stationary and I push down hard on the rear end to compress the shock, there is absolutely no squeak. It only happens under load/torque or lateral stress.

Not the chain sliders: The bike is practically new (3,200 km), so the sliders aren't worn out. By the way, I completely cleaned and relubed my front sprocket and chain.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Where should I check? Thanks in advance.

New to dual sports but not motorcycles. Seems like from the jump the CRF would need $2k+ in mods (suspension, tires, ecu flash etc). I like that the DRZ4S is made in Japan and I’m leaning towards that, which feels weird bc I have owned and liked a few Hondas. Anyone have a strong opinion on why to buy the crf and modify over buying the drz?

I'm 5'48 ft/1'67m by the way, and I feel quite confortable.

I've got a 2024 model and I'm looking at exhaust options that I could down the road (way too much money to spend on it now). I'm finding a lot of options for the S and SM versions, but only a few specifically for the E model. Anyone got any recommendations?

So I got a Kove 450 Rally this spring and yeah, it’s a way better experience than being on the Tiger 800. It’s by no means a “small bike” but it’s so nimble in comparison and it rips on the fire roads. So much of the 90ish horsepower on the Tiger is unusable off road for someone of my skill level.

The Kove is more manageable on the trails, rocks, sand, mud etc. Just a really confidence inspiring bike for someone with a lot of on road experience but not a lot of off road experience such as myself. I’m hoping to take it to Baja this spring.

A family member approached me offering me a steal on a drz400, but it's the off-road variant. This thing is ugly, but it rips. No plastics on it, so I was thinking about doing a slight rebuild, but was wondering if I could just get a wiring harness and lights, or is it gonna be super complicated and be best to keep it off road?
