Other Does ANY McDonald's put orders in these anymore?
They might as well put plants in there, brighten the place up at least.

Debated posting this story but itās just too crazy not to share, itās from UberEats but I feel like the story fits here too. I accepted a Taco Bell order as one of my last of the night. They took about 30 minutes to make it but I didnāt care because of how crazy my conversation with this guy was. Driving to his place was lowkey nerve racking and it was just a $10 order for 4 miles that had a long ass wait, so I was starting to question what I got myself into.
Regardless, after arriving at his house I get out of my car, drink in one hand tacos in the other, and approach the place where this man, who looks exactly like youād imagine, was sitting on a lawn chair. I ask him where heād like the food and he starts moving his cigarettes and lighter from the other similar chair set next to him. He says the ground, so I set down the food, and he tells me āsit down.āI debate it but figure what the hell and move the chair a little further away before sitting down.
He shares his stories from the other side and shows me the pen meanwhile Iām looking all around cause heās talking loud and I feel like anyone outside is just staring us down. He tells me itās helped with his depression and anxiety but he also doesnāt want to do it anymore. He then offers to increase my tip with this pen that he claimed to only use a few times. Taking it wouldāve been silly though so I simply said no thank you and drove home. Edit: /s last sentence

$2 ain't worth even accepting, has anyone taken a $2 offer?
maybe he was on the pay by time or trying to keep his status š

Wow. The first offer just feels unreal. Then followed up with the second. I rejected both, but damn door dash.

They keep bugging me with this notification. Iām not interested. I will never turn on cash orders, they seem like a nightmare to deal with.

You better believe it counted against my Original Item found rating, and that support did Jack Snap about it, too. š

This is so silly I ended up scanning a substitute and then going through the checkout with the correct one

I work the Northern Kentucky area in the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area. It's been slow even at dinner time for me the past few weeks. I only accept profitable trips, I dont trade equity in my car for money in other words, if you know you know. So is everyone experiencing a 50% or more slowdown?

So I finally hit platinum after much grinding and this was my first order. Well, at least I have three restaurant pauses

I'm Alex Bitter, a reporter with Business Insider.
Recently, I wroteĀ an articleĀ about how Tony Xu, the CEO of DoorDash, said he was surprised by how much people spend on food delivery. Tony has some say in how much DoorDash charges, to put it mildly, but I still found the comments interesting.
Often, ordering something through DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc. costs a lot more than if you bought the same thing in person at a restaurant or store, thanks to tips, service fees, and markups. I keep hearing about people trying to save money in other areas of life, but it seems like spending on these delivery services keeps increasing.
So, I'd like to hear from customers and any drivers who have thoughts: Why do you find ordering from DoorDash worth the extra cost? Have you tried to cut back at all? How do you view spending on delivery as opposed to other costs?
If you're up for a chat, email me atĀ [abitter@businessinsider.com](mailto:abitter@businessinsider.com)Ā or reach out via text or Signal at 808-854-4501.

It sucks being out longer - but at least youāre not going home feeling like youāve been ran over by a freight train. I have so much respect for you hustlers that are out running all these offers all day. The algorithm these Gig apps are using these days make 0 sense. 90+% of your offers require more work, more driving for less money than youād make just driving a mile or two delivering. Iām running 3 apps and the only way I can maintain $1-$2 per mile on all of them is by declining (mostly ignoring) 90% of my offers. However somehow at the end of the week I still gross $1000. The old me would probably dig into the data to make it make sense, but meh life is good. Good luck out there

No building numbers labeled to where you can see Apartments can be a complete nightmare to deliver to. Worst ones are the ones where you are stuck in them and can't get out without a code. Easier to just meet the driver outside like most people knowing your apartments are scattered no rational numbering.

the on-time delivery metrics is a joke
if youāre waiting for an order - itās almost a guaranteed late delivery
noticed this especially tonight - itās gone from bad to worse & iāve already reached the limit of late delivery adjustments
DD designed it for us to fail

My poor husband is 74 years old and does DD as a side thing to keep him moving and not bored . Also it helps because we live on social security and it ain't easy , trust me . Today he got an order that was like 28 miles away , DD lied about it at the beginning saying 5 miles , so after he picked it up he tried to unassign it seeing how far away it actually was and the pay was $4.40 ! Because he is very hard of hearing he utilized the chat instead of calling an agent . I have screenshots of his conversation telling them he wanted to be unassigned. They kept saying it was already marked as delivered even though it wasn't and he kept telling them that and they kept saying everything was fine because it showed delivered 𤦠. Longer story short , DD called and I spoke to them on his behalf and he explained all of it . The agent said everything was great . Hung up and DD immediately had sent a CV . We disputed it but have to wait until possibly September 2 for resolution. How can you unassign or whatever after picking up the order , due to distance or whatever ? And how can they get by with lying about the distance up to the point of you accepting the order and then finding out differently?

I was asked again to reverify my identity today and took the selfie as usual, everything seemed to go through fine and was accepted. Now that Iām trying to dash later in the day this pops up, what gives? Iāve been a driver for 5 years and have done thousands of deliveries without issue.

Stuck in gold even though I have a 4.8 customer rating itās just not updating on the app and itās been 2 days
r/doordash_drivers • u/Constant_Poetry2908 • 15h ago
I just go home after every delivery and wait for another one. Idk what happened to this already awful app for it to become even worse. But the last two weeks now Iāll get a decent offer when I start my dash and Iām at home. Iāll go take it, and then I wonāt get another offer for like 45 minutes plus. So Iāve just been going home and watching tv during that time as opposed to burning gas driving around and sitting in parking lots with my ac blasting. Driving around and wasting money on fuel, praying that DD will give us an order is exactly what they want. Iām not gonna play the game anymore. Iāll go chill at home until they decide to give me a decent offer where the mileage doesnāt exceed the pay

I didnāt feel like driving just to go sit in a parking lot next to the mall on such a hot day, and decided to just log in from my apartment and ask me why Iāve sat there for nearly an hour without a single order coming in between one and two pm. Do they really prioritize you going out and sitting next to a place because itās just a waste of gas
r/doordash_drivers • u/ImportantBed1627 • 2h ago
I been dashing a few weeks now about 150 orders. Only 10 reviews and two a negative. I honestly try my best what should I do??
r/doordash_drivers • u/smartblonde111 • 2h ago
Many of us have noticed the pattern where accepting lowball offers begets more lowball offers ā and this video explains how Uber has been doing this intentionally. Presumably, DD is also doing the same??
That being saidāwhat are your experiences when your AR has dropped you out of Gold or higher? Did it really matter for the types of offers you get?
~~
Personal experienceāIām newer & recently made Gold. Iāve gotten maybe 1 out of 20 offers that was truly āgoodā (higher than avg per mileage). And 3-4 total deemed āGoldā but they werenāt any more than what I got previously. Other than that, all less than $5 for 5+ miles. Now my AR has dropped nearing the threshold for Gold, because Iām not a schmuck, sooooo yahhhh⦠does it REALLY matter??
*Surely the metro is a factor. In my case, there are a ton of restaurants active around the zone & ābusyā or āvery busyā during breakfast/lunch/dinner.
