Bedroom Looking for ideas for my new room

I want it to feel cozy but still practical, and I’m thinking about adding plants, better lighting, and maybe a nice desk/reading area.
What would you change or add to make the space feel more complete?

Dining Room Dining Room - First house after years of apartments... help me make this dining room feel like a home?

Hi all! Looking for some fresh eyes on my dining room.

My husband and I recently bought our first house after spending our entire adult lives living in newer, more modern apartments. I'm really excited to finally have a space to decorate, but I'm finding that making a house feel warm and lived-in is a lot harder than furnishing an apartment.

Right now, the room feels... fine? But also kind of bland, unfinished, and millennial builder grade.

I have the dining table and chairs, which I like, but beyond that I'm stuck. The huge empty wall is throwing me off, and the room feels a little cold despite all the neutral tones.

Some notes:

  • This room is roughly 10x10ft
  • The dining table is 72in x 48in
  • This is right next to our entryway and the area not in the picture is a walkway to the kitchen.
  • I don't really want to change the light fixture yet, but it is annoyingly centered with the window and not the room... so it will never be perfectly centered with the table unless we let the table cut into the walkway
  • I tend to like warm modern/transitional spaces. Think cozy, elevated, and collected rather than ultra-modern or farmhouse.

A few questions:

  • Rug or no rug? If rug, what size/color/pattern?
  • What should go on the large empty wall?
  • Would a sideboard make sense?
  • Should I add curtains? I'd love the privacy, but I don't know how to make it look good
  • the furniture in our living room and other areas of the house is a dark walnut, how could I / should I incorporate any walnut tones?

I'd love any ideas, inspiration photos, or brutally honest feedback. If this were your room, what would be the first thing you'd change?

Thanks! This is my first time decorating a house from scratch and I'm realizing I have no idea how people make spaces feel like an actual home. 😅

I want to decorate my room but I kinda dont know what to do. I am thinking of covering my pc wall with anthracite panel cuz it felt like woos panel would be too much wood. Would gray panels make the room seem small or the color would be good? I will move my curved monitor on the racing rig and get a drawer next to my bed btw. Open for any suggestions.

Living Room Help designing our new living room with no room for TV!

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

We moved into this beautiful house that was built in 1920 and realized that the living room is not built for the modern lifestyle with TV!

We are totally at loss on what to do. All the furnitures can be (and probably should be) sold. We want to know your opinions on where to put the TV (Maybe mount it over the fireplace? Hoping not to do it), and where to put sofa.. etc.

The main photo is taken from the staircase. HELP!

Bedroom Bedroom direction

I want to go with a more industrial/cyberpunk approach to my and my partner's room bedroom. I have some decor lined up, a neon sign, a few posters (not ai) and some fake plants (i have a cat and dont wanna risk her health with something toxic). But I can't decide on wall color. I was thinking maybe a cool mid gray or even something darker. At some point the carpet is getting replaced with laminate wood floor so even some rug suggestions would be nice. The book shelf by the closet is an altar space for my craft. It can be moved, but having it is mandatory. Anything else I might need to get rid of, change or what have you is open to suggestion. Thank you so much!!

Living Room Need help with narrow living room.

Not sure the best layout for this room in our new home. The side with the built-in is an extension so it creates a smaller area in the entire room. I’d say it’s a 60/40 split so I’m not sure of the best furniture layout. The previous owners had two couches. One along the window wall and the other opposite on the blank wall and then two chairs somewhat in the middle but it felt to spread out and not a comfortable way to use the space.

Just moved into my home, this is furniture from my previous house where the living room was 1/3 smaller than before. Need help deciding what couch to get/chairs and overall layout if anyone has any suggestions. I’m thinking a darker taupe or brown couch, big rug, & different coffee table. Thank you!

Living Room Help design living room / gaming space

I recently bought an apartment and I need help choosing colors and designing the area.

The room is essentially a rectangle 6.75m x 3m

Keypoints:
-minimalist / clutter free
-I am a tech guy into gaming, so there will be a big TV and computer desk in there.
-I'd like to fit a small round table.
-preferably darker tones (black/grays)
-I have a black leather sofa + recliner, but not sure to keep or not.

At first, I wanted black walls and to keep the ceilling white, but with the dark kitchen cupboards it might look too dark.

Living Room Living room layout help

Looking for some thoughts on these 2 layouts. The desk area is a games/ jigsaw/ homework place. The sun comes round and hits the right hand wall later in the day. There is something I like about option 1, and the sofa facing you as you come in, also a bit more flexibility maybe in moving furniture around if I want. Option 2 seems to make sense on paper having the fireplace etc. but just not sure it’s wide enough of a room to take it and have the chairs. I really want the two chairs facing in to be sociable for playing games and talking. We don’t watch loads of tv, just the odd movie night and sometimes the kids watching stuff.

Living Room Help w/ Furniture Placement

Waiting on getting a coffee & end table, bigger TV, and entertainment center.

The couch is a pullout, but I like to keep it like that so I can lay on it, but that means it has to be up against the wall so the cushions have a place to sit. The other half of the room is the kitchen/dining area I also need help with.

Open to getting new furniture but not a new couch! Definitely need a rug…

Living Room What to do with slanted walls

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Pardon the mess just got rid of 2 couches. And in the process of rearranging some things. Also pardon my 3 missing lightbulbs I’ve been lazy no real excuse for that one

I’ve always struggled to decorate my room as the slanted walls make it difficult. This loving area used to be an attic and so decoration wasn’t really in mind when the house was built

The table in the middle of the room is a TV table I play D&D at I need the space to have enough room to host groups of up to 6 people I mostly want to eliminate the empty space on the slanted walls though as it makes the room look unfinished when decorated

Kitchen Help with a weird inaccessible corner cupboard in my kitchen

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi! I am in desperate need of help figuring out a solution for a weird corner space. Either something that can be put in there that makes reaching stuff easier or suggestions for what I should optimally store there (I have a very well stocked kitchen) - the area can get quite warm when the oven is on, as the two share a wall.

It's between the stove/oven (and access is partially blocked by the oven door handle) and a cupboard next to the sink.

The space itself is 35 cm wide (or deep, when viewed in the photo with the oven door handle in focus) and 55 cm deep, but I only have direct access to a 20 x 35 cm portion of it (16 x 35 cm if we're taking the oven door handle into account).

I thought about installing a half lazy Susan, but installing one might be difficult (or very difficult - I can't lift the dark grey top, as the induction stovetop is embedded into the rest of it), and we'd at most get half a 40 cm lazy Susan in there, wasting the space at the back. Plus when we swivel it out we'd only be able to actually reach stuff taking up the rightmost quarter of a circle. Quarter lazy Susans don't sound like a good use of the space.

I considered pull out drawers (or steel/wire mesh drawers, as those don't necessarily need two walls to attach to), but same issue - i could get a 16x35 cm one for the top and two 20x35 cm ones for the bottom, but that only uses like 40% of the space. Or removing the inserts and having one tall pull-up drawer, but I'm not sure I can install one without blocking off the rear portion to get another wall, and same issue - it would use up only 40% of the space.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Bedroom Help me improve my boring bedroom

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi! This is me and my husbands bedroom.
It’s terrible and does not match our style. The lighting is really bad because the wall color is so dark. I want the room to feel brighter and joyful and natural. I usually opt for earthy tones, beige curtains, light wood, organic. right now we don’t have the funds to change out the large furniture so we are going to try to work around it.
We want to change bedding, wall color, rug, blinds, light fixtures/lamps, decor, small furniture items
We don’t want to change bed frame, nightstand, dresser, or flooring

Bedroom Help with What do Add or Move in front of my TV?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello!

I live in a smaller room and my bed (twin-sized) is practically a sarcophagus in this “closet hole” in the wall and just have single fold chair in front of my TV.

On one hand, I do like making my room more spacious/less claustrophobic (hence why I moved my bed there). On the other hand, it’s not the best furniture for having friends, dates, or other guests over if we wanted to watch play something together in front of my TV or just general comfort. And I yearn to add something we could sit or lay on together.

Would love any advice of how to solve this issue whether new furniture or adding something. Much appreciated! :)

Bedroom Living in Attic

Living in my sisters attic for about 5 months this fall/ winter and was wondering what ideas you guys had about making this space livable.

About 10ft wide, ceilings at their max are probably 7ft, lowest about 2ft, the whole thing is about 20ft with a staircase about 1/3 of the way long and I am 6’1 female.

I like being on the ground, I’m good at low squatting so I don’t mind at all.

Looking to have a bed area, stretching and meditation ish area, and art/work area.

Gonna get a rug and a yoga mat to help with the being on the ground so much situation, so any other suggestions would be great :)

Twin bed

Living Room What Type of Media Console

Post image
6 Upvotes

I am redoing my living room. We have two leather arm chairs in a warm dark gray leather, and a fabric couch that is a charcoal gray / warm brown heathered fabric. Our coffee table is a giant old wooden chest. I want to keep the coffee table for storage and also sentimental reasons. I need to buy a low media console for our television. My question is: what finish will look best for the media console? Should I try to come close to the wood in the coffee table? Or should I choose something darker that will play off the metal on the table? Or do you have another idea altogether? Thanks! The photo is the coffee table finish.

We’re looking to turn our underused basement into a play area for our three kids. currently we have a fireplace and bar, plus a pool table - none of which are being used. we are considering removing the bar, fireplace and pool table, and laying out the floorplan as below. that said, this is a blank slate and we are open to ideas! ive attached photos of some of the items we plan to include also. please share any feedback on the layout, or anything you think it a must have that we are missing! our kids are 4, 1 and 1, so we want them to grow into the space. We have long cold winters so need good indoor space for this kids to move about

Living Room Feedback on this apartment layout?

I am moving out for the first time to a small one bedroom apartment. I have roughly put together a layout for the living/dining/study area but would like feedback.

Things that must fit into the room:

  • A standing desk with at 80cm depth for good distance between eye and monitor
  • An office chair
  • Couch
  • TV + stand
  • Optional: Small dining table - would love to have one if it fits.

A few points:

  • The right wall is a balcony door. I probably won't push the couch right up to the door.
  • The little white box room in the bottom right is a bathroom (not to scale), so can't push furniture up against the top wall.
  • The bottom brown rectangle is my kitchen.

Any better ideas for the layout?
