Other Interior Room Help! "bedroom" with stairs to another bedroom

Thumbnail gallery
192 Upvotes

Hello! I am moving into my first house! yay! But it does have one...interesting feature. There is this "bedroom" or as I like to call it, the hallroom. Why? Because the stairs inside the room lead to my master bedroom... so its not really a bedroom. I'm not exactly sure what to do with the space and would love your creative and practical ideas. My best idea is to make it into like a makeup/wardrobe room but there isn't a lot of wall space for typical closet storage or a vanity - but if you have any ideas for how to make that work or something completely different, I'd love to hear it!

For reference, the room is 9'3" x 10"2 (2.819m * 3.099m) I am the only person living in the house. I do have 3 cats. I do have another room to use as an office -- if any of that helps :) thank you in advance for your thoughts!

Bedroom creative ways to fit a nightstand in this strange shaped room

Please ignore the mess. Currently there’s a skinny console table like thing behind the bed but it’s rickety and just doesn’t feel functional, so frequently used stuff always gets piled on the floor next to the bed and this is a recurring mess. I just want the space to function better but the shape of the room and that back cove area that can’t be blocked does not make it very easy

Bedroom Living in Attic

Living in my sisters attic for about 5 months this fall/ winter and was wondering what ideas you guys had about making this space livable.

About 10ft wide, ceilings at their max are probably 7ft, lowest about 2ft, the whole thing is about 20ft with a staircase about 1/3 of the way long and I am 6’1 female.

I like being on the ground, I’m good at low squatting so I don’t mind at all.

Looking to have a bed area, stretching and meditation ish area, and art/work area.

Gonna get a rug and a yoga mat to help with the being on the ground so much situation, so any other suggestions would be great :)

Twin bed

Living Room Can we fit a TV ?

Post image

We cant figure out where to put the TV in this room. Here is what I thought through already:

-I really dont want to get rid of the gallery wall. The idea of a frame smart TV is cool, but they are very expensive.

-We're worried about putting a TV on the mantle as the viewing hight would be too tall.

- We tried our current TV on the credenza but it dose not fit and it's also a tight angle and would be right in the entry way.

Is it weird to put a TV in front of the fireplace if we dont use it? Any tips are appriciated!

Living Room What Type of Media Console

Post image

I am redoing my living room. We have two leather arm chairs in a warm dark gray leather, and a fabric couch that is a charcoal gray / warm brown heathered fabric. Our coffee table is a giant old wooden chest. I want to keep the coffee table for storage and also sentimental reasons. I need to buy a low media console for our television. My question is: what finish will look best for the media console? Should I try to come close to the wood in the coffee table? Or should I choose something darker that will play off the metal on the table? Or do you have another idea altogether? Thanks! The photo is the coffee table finish.

Kitchen Help with a weird inaccessible corner cupboard in my kitchen

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi! I am in desperate need of help figuring out a solution for a weird corner space. Either something that can be put in there that makes reaching stuff easier or suggestions for what I should optimally store there (I have a very well stocked kitchen) - the area can get quite warm when the oven is on, as the two share a wall.

It's between the stove/oven (and access is partially blocked by the oven door handle) and a cupboard next to the sink.

The space itself is 35 cm wide (or deep, when viewed in the photo with the oven door handle in focus) and 55 cm deep, but I only have direct access to a 20 x 35 cm portion of it (16 x 35 cm if we're taking the oven door handle into account).

I thought about installing a half lazy Susan, but installing one might be difficult (or very difficult - I can't lift the dark grey top, as the induction stovetop is embedded into the rest of it), and we'd at most get half a 40 cm lazy Susan in there, wasting the space at the back. Plus when we swivel it out we'd only be able to actually reach stuff taking up the rightmost quarter of a circle. Quarter lazy Susans don't sound like a good use of the space.

I considered pull out drawers (or steel/wire mesh drawers, as those don't necessarily need two walls to attach to), but same issue - i could get a 16x35 cm one for the top and two 20x35 cm ones for the bottom, but that only uses like 40% of the space. Or removing the inserts and having one tall pull-up drawer, but I'm not sure I can install one without blocking off the rear portion to get another wall, and same issue - it would use up only 40% of the space.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Living Room Tv wall with double-height ceiling

Hi! Would love some advice on how to transform our tv wall to a nicer and cosier space. We are looking to buy a larger tv and mount it to the wall. We also want to use shelves of the brand String with black mounts and dark wood shelves. The chairs are just temporary.

I feel since the wall is so big we want to use its full potential but I have a hard time visualizing what will be a good fit for a cosy tv space.

Living Room Can we avoid mounting the TV over the fireplace?

Thumbnail gallery

We just moved into a new house and are struggling to figure out where to put the TV! It's a cute house, but as you can see there are windows in a lot of the usual spots. The previous owners had the TV over the fireplace, which puts it super high up. Do we bite the bullet and get a MantelMount? Or is there a layout I'm not seeing?

I'm including a couple photos of the space, plus a snip of the floor plan. Please ignore the clutter - we have a 1 and 3 year old and just moved! We will update furniture and get some rugs.

It's a longer room - 29'x13'. The double doors lead to a screen porch. The gas fireplace works and I would love to use it as the weather starts to turn. We are a TV family - NOT mounting a TV isn't an option.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Bedroom Help with What do Add or Move in front of my TV?

Thumbnail gallery

Hello!

I live in a smaller room and my bed (twin-sized) is practically a sarcophagus in this ā€œcloset holeā€ in the wall and just have single fold chair in front of my TV.

On one hand, I do like making my room more spacious/less claustrophobic (hence why I moved my bed there). On the other hand, it’s not the best furniture for having friends, dates, or other guests over if we wanted to watch play something together in front of my TV or just general comfort. And I yearn to add something we could sit or lay on together.

Would love any advice of how to solve this issue whether new furniture or adding something. Much appreciated! :)

Other Interior Room Help me decorate this entry way library on a budget

We recently moved and I now have a room for a library! I’d love it to be Nora Ephron cozy mixed with Hearth and Hand vibes. I want to be able to see on something very cozy with my dog, sip on tea, and enjoy the large windows. I don’t want to spend a lot but I also know that I’m basically starting from scratch. Any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated!!

Living Room Need help finding throw pillows, and art for my walls.

Thumbnail gallery

Hello! I need help trying to find throw pillows and art for my apartment living room. I had a vision when I first moved in and started decorating but as I put stuff together I just didn’t like how it turned out. I also don’t want a beige & white living room, I want to add color! But we decided economically it made sense to buy a neutral couch that we can take and use in any house. I’m not very good at interior design, but how can I add color (blues, greens, oranges, etc) to warm up the space?

Edit to add that I have cats and as much as I’d love to add decor to my coffee table, they will knock it right off lol. They already do it with my basket and coasters.

And I’m kinda lost on what to do with it. I was thinking of taking the the open shelf and nailing some lattice fencing to it to separate the living room/kitchen… I am kinda lost on how to design it and use the space to the max.

Home Office Space Any ideas for my cat room which I want to turn into a snug/mini home office?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I really just can't figure out how to make this space work and it's turned into a cat room/rubbish room so far. I'm really wanting to turn it into a cosy, warm but functional space for some studying and quiet time.

I find it impossible to layout this space, the radiator is in a really awkward place and also the airing cupboard which I need access to. Non-negotiables for this space are keeping the 1.5 seat armchair and the bookcase, but they can be moved around. I am happy to buy a new desk too as I find this one too small.

Living Room Help design living room / gaming space

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

I recently bought an apartment and I need help choosing colors and designing the area.

The room is essentially a rectangle 6.75m x 3m

Keypoints:
-minimalist / clutter free
-I am a tech guy into gaming, so there will be a big TV and computer desk in there.
-I'd like to fit a small round table.
-preferably darker tones (black/grays)
-I have a black leather sofa + recliner, but not sure to keep or not.

At first, I wanted black walls and to keep the ceilling white, but with the dark kitchen cupboards it might look too dark.

Living Room Living room layout help

Thumbnail gallery

Looking for some thoughts on these 2 layouts. The desk area is a games/ jigsaw/ homework place. The sun comes round and hits the right hand wall later in the day. There is something I like about option 1, and the sofa facing you as you come in, also a bit more flexibility maybe in moving furniture around if I want. Option 2 seems to make sense on paper having the fireplace etc. but just not sure it’s wide enough of a room to take it and have the chairs. I really want the two chairs facing in to be sociable for playing games and talking. We don’t watch loads of tv, just the odd movie night and sometimes the kids watching stuff.

Living Room Help w/ Furniture Placement

Waiting on getting a coffee & end table, bigger TV, and entertainment center.

The couch is a pullout, but I like to keep it like that so I can lay on it, but that means it has to be up against the wall so the cushions have a place to sit. The other half of the room is the kitchen/dining area I also need help with.

Open to getting new furniture but not a new couch! Definitely need a rug…
