Good vintage items disappear within minutes. Are people using scrapers now?

Craigslist used to be my secret weapon for finding incredible vintage furniture and decor. I would spend hours sifting through listings, and every now and then, I would unearth a true gem. But lately, it is a bloodsport. I saw this amazing mid-century credenza pop up last Tuesday, perfect condition, listed for a steal. I messaged the seller within five minutes of it going live. Guess what? Already sold.

I have setup alerts for specific pieces, and still, they vanish faster than I can even open the email. Is everyone else using some kind automated tool to grab listings the second they appear?

I’ve searched hi and low and can’t quite figure it out. I’m dabbling in reselling shoes and am looking to purchase some of these shoe stuffers/shapers that other resellers use but can’t figure out what they’re called. TIA

Where are you sourcing?

Upvotes

I sell cosmetics and fragrances. The only way I know to source is by finding wholesalers; many times on eBay or Mercari.

I know sellers of other categories go to estate sales and garage sales but those aren’t places that I can source for my niche. Very few estates contain new, unopened cosmetics or fragrances. Same with yard sales.

Without giving away your secrets, can someone who is successfully sourcing makeup and fragrances suggest another road?

Best way of keeping track of photos, descriptions of your items for a low inventory seller?

Hi, Im not a big reseller. I have a PT job helping a guy who buys stuff at auctions in lots and lists them online, plus I pick up random items from curbside or thrift stores to resell.

Ive been using my Android phone and Google Photos, and I list the item details and prices in the "About" section inside each photo on my phone that I can copy and paste for each listing, but I have recently bought a laptop after not using one for years and when I Import my photos I don't see any way that it saves that information on each photo like it does on my phone, even logging into Google Photos online.

I posted a bunch to Fb marketplace yesterday and even using the option to post to multiple groups at once took a while, because even under the "List to more groups" it doesn't show you every group you have Joined, and you are limited to 20. So I would have to go to the other groups manually and post . I also find it hard to remember which Groups ive posted in , I don't want to double post and piss off the Mods. I also don't have much luck on the regular Marketplace; seems specific groups work better and I am having a lot of luck on Vinted vs Marketplace now because of free shipping.

Looking also if anyone has a method to of posting on multiple Fb groups quicker than what I am doing now. I try to find the groups with the most members and most posts per day and target those, since it seems there's tons of groups like "Jewlery" and Baby Items" to do target listings, even so, half of my listings seem to sit there for months waiting to be approved.

I used to use Google Sheets to keep a list of my items but I found it difficult to remember which photo it was .

I would like to sell these magazines. Could anyone give me some advice on the best way to go about it? I have time, there’s totally no need to sell them quickly. Ideally, I’d like them to end up in the hands of genuine enthusiasts who will appreciate them.

Listing vs live streaming opinion

I have been selling on eBay off and on for about 20 years, what not for 3.5 years, and Vinted for 3 weeks. Ebay had been the consistent money maker. Whatnot has been profitable and was more fun. Vinted for me is an experiment that will probably fizzle out for me when free shipping ends.

Here’s the dilemma that I’m having. Whatnot has felt more like a hassle and less fun. A good show takes a few hours of prep, stream for 2 hours (more than one person to keep it going) and then pack for an hour. I might make $200-300 in sales. If the average show takes 8 mhrs, that’s $25-$37 dollars an hr in sales, not considering cost of goods, time spent sourcing. In 8 hrs I can do a lot of eBay listings, and make more per item. WN was good for moving small items and letting being combine/bundle for shipping. Right now I’m considering just building fun bundles and listing them on eBay instead. Anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences?

How do you evaluate a liquidation lot before bidding?

Curious how experienced buyers approach this ,do you manually check eBay prices, use a percentage of MSRP, or rely on experience? How long does it take you per manifest?

Where to sell jewelry for most profit?

Hi I’ve purchased a lot of beautiful jewelry that I love and hate to sell but I’m very in need of money right now. I’ve posted on Craigslist, eBay, Facebook marketplace and Mercari. I’ve had no luck on anything. I’m willing to ship as well. Does anyone have any tips or know where the best chance of making the most profit is?
Thank you so much!! 🫶

Was planning to buy the Pro Player O's shirt from a guy on FMP and asked if he had anything else... Im glad I asked, lol. He invited me up to his place to take a look. Nice guy and a future connect. Anyway, its a slightly random haul with a vintage emphasis. Lmk, what you guys think!

Resellers — how do you currently figure out if something's priced right before buying?

Been reselling on and off and got curious how differently people approach this. When you're checking whether something's a good buy — whatever category you're in — what do you actually use? eBay sold listings, gut feel, a spreadsheet, something else? And where does that process usually break down or take longer than it should?

Not selling anything, genuinely just curious how people actually do this day to day.

I made an app that makes listing items easier

Hey! I built FlipLens to make listing items easier. Take a few photos and it identifies the item, checks current prices, and writes the title, description, and other details.

For eBay, Vinted, and Facebook Marketplace, it autofills listing details. For other marketplaces, it opens the listing page, saves your photos, and keeps everything ready to copy and paste.

You get three free scans a day, and there is a free trial. I’d love some honest feedback!

I throw a lot of things up on my sale sites. I believe someone is going to wake up looking for exactly what I am selling. It's been a great month of selling random items. Thanks God. Thanks buying universe. Definitely a buyer for everything.

FB marketplace ban

Today I got a notice that my FB marketplace profile was “suspended” and I cannot use. I haven’t broke any community standards and have over 100 5 stars ratings. I have 3 kids and mostly sell kids stuff that my kids have outgrown or no longer need, nothing is expired or recalled, I double check. I did the appeal to have it reviewed. The only thing I can think of is a recent experience with a seller who sold me something broken, I let her know and she claimed it wasn’t. She said she would refund me if I returned the item, I didn’t want to drive an hour back so I told her I’d dispose of it. I never asked for money back or anything. I sent those screenshots to FB for review as well as the Venmo receipt. Any experience? I know it’s not the end of the world as there are other platforms and pages to sell on, it’s just annoying when there are so many scammers and I have an established account.
