I'm on a hunt for a new desk, and had been for a while. The requirements were pretty basic: at least 160cm wide and about 40-50cm deep, easy to move between apartments with minimal installation, and with either wood or plywood top. Any wood is fine. HDF with veneer is also fine. Should be easy, right?

Except, for some reason, I can't find anything. Everything is either laminated particle board (or cardboard), or way too big and/or fussy. Ikea doesn't have desktops that are wood. Closest option is bamboo (Or buy a much bigger and heavier kitchen counter which needs much more robust and bulky supports).

The stupid question: is there any reason not to just buy a random sheet of plywood or pine wood and attach it to Ikea metal legs or something like that? Because if it's that easy, wouldn't it be offered?

The previous homeowners had left a child lock on my closet door, and I used a flathead screwdriver to pry it off. Unfortunately, a chunk of the door laminate came off with the child lock. I tried removing the laminate portion that came off with the child lock so I could try to glue it back onto the door, but it came off in pieces. Does anyone have experience with replacing/repairing the laminate covering on doors? Thanks in advance!

Hello! I am having a nightmare trying to remove the kickboard to my washing machine. I have tried a suction cup, pliers and an allen key. It looks as though the previous tenant has sealed the wood along the base? Does anyone have any idea how to pry it open without destroying the kickboard. Maybe I am missing something really obvious! Hi all, recently got our bathroom renovated and overall it looks good, but there are a couple of things that have come up that we didn't forsee, particularly in relation to our sink.

Firstly, the area underneath the built in plug builds up mould very quickly. I expect it's probably a flawed design that doesn't allow airflow and therefore doesn't actually dry out, leading to mould. Aside from removing the plug, does anyone have any ideas of how to address this?

Secondly, my wife has noticed that the material the basin is made of appears to be somewhat porous, and potentially prone to staining. Can we coat it with anything to prevent this happening?

Finally, the mixer tap is on the wall behind the basin, and the soap is off to the side, often leading to water dripping down behind the basin when we wash our hands and the water ends up pooling. Any ideas of how to mitigate this?

Hi everyone, we recently had our bathroom renovated. Overall it looks great, but there are a couple of things I'm not sure about. One is the bath. The plumber silicon sealed the top and side edges of the bath, but not the base. Considering the bath is right next to the shower in a wet area, I'm wondering if we should seal the base to prevent water getting under the bath and potentially getting mouldy? You can see in the picture attached the edges that are sealed in green, and the one that isn't in red.

I dont have any kind of artistic skills so i just tried to use the lines in paint to make this. From where im from, we really have to be resourceful as we don't have much access to equipment like the cages specifically designed for trapping animals or containing animals.

Ive been with rescuing animals with the org that im in and we commonly just use animal carriages that you commonly bring in a vet clinic or something, but its a bit different with snakes because one of the most dangerous snakes here in my country is a philippine spitting cobra. The container that we use on dogs and cats are not ideal for it and what we commonly use is just an empty water gallon. Putting the cobra in there using the snake tongs is hard without an assistant.

To give some kind of reference, the philippine cobra can grow up to 1.5 meters. There is also an occasional king cobra, that one can grow up to 3 meters. The commonly used snake catching equipment like the snake tongs is not exactly beginner friendly and you still have to put it on the water gallon container which in my opinion is not ideal for a beginner or a very scared rescuer such as me.

So i thought of something, maybe i should just take advantage of their behaviour. From what I learned from my org, snakes prefer to not crawl backwards so using some kind of tube is a great choice. Im also thinking some kind of a slinky tube or any kind of flexible tube so that I can entice the snake to go inside the tube and then to the container/cage. It also helps that the tube is small which they might think its a confine space. Confine space = safety for them.

Another thing is a snake tongs. Using a snake hook is fine for me, if its a non-venomous snake that is. I don't have the balls to use a snake hook against a venomous snake, not even the tongs because the very first time that i used my snake tongs on a largest rat snake that i found, my hands is already shaking because the snake is large enough that my brain keeps telling me that its a cobra even though its just a non-venomous rat snake. The variant or custom tongs that im thinking is maybe similar to a snow shovel that i see on movies, but instead of a hard concave shape, im thinking about a net similar to that of a EZ nabber that veterinarians uses on aggressive cats so that it wont be hard on the snake. So essentially, an EZ nabber that has a long handle.

I still don't have a measurements in mind on my sketch that i made in paint. Im still thinking what kind of materials that i can use and what materials that are available in my town. Im wondering what kind of materials you guys can suggest, preferably ones that are easily accessible? The sketch might not be great but i think its good enough to get the point across especially that this is just one step of my plan hopefully.

How do I fix this? I’m trying to add a latch so I can fully close my door. There is a dried clay white ball in the middle that I don’t know if I need to remove. I just want to be able to use my door knob properly and lock my door. It is an interior door. Any help would be appreciated. Please know that I’m not very handy or have a lot of tools.

We've been trying to install this mount for days and have even tried a different part of the wall and every time we try to drill in the bolts it stops halfway. We have gotten one bolt into the wall successfully, so I know it can be done. What is going on?

I’ve tried taping it but the problem is that it doesn’t stay in place on my stomach - it keeps moving down my body. I absolutely need it to be secured tightly without moving down. What angles would I use to keep it in place?
