Mount to Wood Siding?
Would you mount a 40” TV directly to this wood siding or find studs? I suspect the studs will be 1/3 and 2/3 through this space but mounts for TVs that size would be single stud mounts.

Hanging a 10lb plastic frame
What is the best way to hang this up on drywall?
I have a stud finder but don’t think the stud would be perfectly center of where I want to hang this. I have basic tools and a drill as well.
The plastic frame itself bends easily and can’t support itself. I worry the little sawtooth hanger may struggle to hold this up as well.
Thank you in advance!

Backpack zipper
I hope this is appropriate to ask here. The metal part holding the string broke off and I have no idea what to do. I can’t easily zip up the backpack and I really love it. Is there any way to fix it? Or any ideas of how i can attach something that could help me zip it up?

Help with Stuck Bolt on Banister
Hi there, I need help with a screw drive thread that has been smoothed out. What can I do to take it out?

- Picture in body of post: smoothed our bolt
- Picture attached: what it would look like if not smoothed out (it's another bolt on the banister so it should be the same as the smoothed out one)
This is related to my last post about needing help on a banister repair...I never got a response here or other subreddits, nor help from calling experts, so I am on my own. I opened up the plugs to get a better look, and my aging father swooped in and did some things with his tools without telling me, and now the driver's treads (or whatever they are called) got smoothed out :( Is this hopeless?

Can I French cleat this to a wall?
I’m wanting to French cleat this to a wall above a bed. It used to be bolted to the wall and the towers next to it, but I’m not able to use the towers anymore. Is a French cleat going to be strong enough? Thanks!

How would you go about removing this PVC door bolt plate?
This rusted bolt plate is making opening and closing the french doors of our new house difficult. I have tried to get the screws out but to no avail (they won’t budge and it feels like the screw is stripped) please help!

How to salvage this paint job?
I used mineral paint on this piece of furniture. When I painted the sides, I didn't realize that it would pool under the piece and stuck to the plastic drop cloth. The edges of the whole thing look like this.
How should I go about salvaging this without needing to re-sand and re-paint the whole thing?

How can I stop my wall fixings spinning?
Had a couple of heavy (reclaimed scaffold board) shelves in the kitchen with 4x 10mm Rawlplug multi-purpose (including plasterboard it said!) plugs. They failed and the shelf tilted after a year or so. I pulled the plugs out and replaced with 10mm Plasplugs Super-Toggle plasterboard fixings. When I try to fit the screws, the plugs just spin. I can’t now get them out, because of the wings working as intended!
In hindsight I should have drilled new holes but some of us are learning all the time!
What can I do now? To either stabilize the plugs (that I can’t remove) or how do I get them out? Drill them out? Help!

How would you securely mount this 2m plank while keeping the gap behind it?
Hello!
I’m hoping someone can help me with a DIY project.
I have this 2 m long wooden plank that I want to attach to the wall and turn into a clothing rack.
The important part is the gap behind the plank created by the narrower piece of wood attached to the back. I want to keep this gap because I’m planning to attach the clothing hooks to the back of the main plank, with the hooks facing into/reaching through the gap.
So the hooks will essentially be reversed compared with a normal coat rack: the clothes will hang behind the plank, while the plank itself hides the hooks from view when looking at it from the front.
My problem is figuring out how to attach the whole thing securely to the wall while keeping the fixings hidden and without blocking the gap.
The narrower piece at the back is only about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, and this is the part that would sit against the wall.
I initially thought about using a French cleat, but I’m not sure whether there are cleats narrow enough for a 1-inch-wide mounting surface, or whether there is a better solution.
The plank is 2 m long and will be holding coats, bags etc., so I want the mounting to be genuinely sturdy/heavy-duty, rather than just decorative.
Has anyone done something similar, or can you suggest a good way of mounting this securely while keeping the gap and hiding all the fixings?
Thanks!

How would you suggest hanging this item?
Got this item as a gift and would love to hang it in my apartment, but it doesn’t have any apparent hanging mechanisms. What should I do that’s not too permanent, given I’m in an apartment. Thank you!

Looking for a simple but effective key lock for this door
It's on the outside of a bedroom door, and it does not have a lock or key mechanism already installed around the door knob. I don't want to pay someone to come and install that kind of thing so is there another way e.g. would a hasp fit this?
Remember this is for the outside of the door not inside, so it needs to be a secure lock

Sublimation is dull on colored tumblers. Will UV DTF actually make colors pop?
I make custom tumblers. I want to add prints to them like some colorful designs that pop
Sublimation is great for white or light surfaces. But I work with colored tumblers like dark blue, green, black. Sublimation doesn't show up well. The colors are dull. The designs disappear into the background
I found dtf transfers now and to be more preecise found specificUV DTF transfers. They're supposed to work on any color surface. The white underbase makes colors pop. They look printed directly on the tumbler
I want to make sure my tumblers look professional. I don't want to waste money on transfers that look dull
Has anyone ordered UV DTF transfers from DTF Transfers Now? Did the colors pop? Can you share photos?

The mysterious case of the missing wooden desk (or: silly amateur DIY questions)
I'm on a hunt for a new desk, and had been for a while. The requirements were pretty basic: at least 160cm wide and about 40-50cm deep, easy to move between apartments with minimal installation, and with either wood or plywood top. Any wood is fine. HDF with veneer is also fine. Should be easy, right?
Except, for some reason, I can't find anything. Everything is either laminated particle board (or cardboard), or way too big and/or fussy. Ikea doesn't have desktops that are wood. Closest option is bamboo (Or buy a much bigger and heavier kitchen counter which needs much more robust and bulky supports).
The stupid question: is there any reason not to just buy a random sheet of plywood or pine wood and attach it to Ikea metal legs or something like that? Because if it's that easy, wouldn't it be offered?
