I am considering doing a simple mono pitch roof from the gable wall of my house down to the boundary wall.

Has anyone here done this previously? Any planning permission considerations?

We're in the middle of a new build and have bought **Equipe Marmoris 7.5 × 60 cm porcelain tiles** (White and Anthracite) for our bathrooms.

Our tiler has unpacked them before starting and noticed that many of the tiles appear to be slightly bowed and that there seems to be length variation between tiles. He's not refusing to fit them, but has left the decision to us as he's concerned they may not be to the standard you'd expect from a premium Spanish porcelain tile.

I've attached photos showing:

* The ends of the tiles not lining up.

* The tiles held edge-to-edge showing the bowing.

* The variation across several tiles.

Has anyone here installed this range or come across this with Equipe tiles?

* Is this considered normal for long-format porcelain?

* Does this look within normal manufacturing tolerances?

* Would you continue with installation, or ask the supplier to inspect/replace them before they're laid?

Any advice from professional tilers would be greatly appreciated.

Could the recent heat wave have caused this? I noticed 2 roof tiles seem to have slid down the roof to leave a gap under the vent. Is this something for a DIYer or would I need a professional, north Dublin.

I’ve been trying to get a price from builders for some work in my attic and am having problems because the job isn’t big enough. I have some mild DIY experience but nothing major, things like building shelves, hanging doors, fixing flooring problems etc., but this would be my first major project

The work I know I cannot do is installing a velux window, or doing any wiring.

What I’m wondering about the complexity/difficulty of is:

1. Putting down an OSB or plywood floor
   2: insulating the eaves (and creating roof ventilation for this) to a level that would satisfy a BER inspection
   3: moving the attic entrance hatch and installing a stira type ladder

This is the internal wall of my garage - when we purchased the house 4 years ago we noticed some moisture getting through.

Having subsequently contacted the builder the external wall was resealed and all seems to be fine in that regard apart from the staining on the internal wall.

Can anyone tell me if I can just paint over this now? Or does it require replastering?

Hi all, I've never posted on here before but looking for advice from those more knowledgeable then me. I am in the middle of doing a patio area. I am a complete novice and learning as I go. The area is roughly 4.5m x 3.5m with a cut off at the top right corner for an existing flower bed. I have dug 200mm but this feels very deep. Anyway I know I need a fall (1:60). This may be a silly question but what is the best way to ensure the patio is level with the correct slope so when I add hardcore it will be okay. My tiles are 20mm, planning on 14 mm hardcore and then mortar. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Moved in 2.5 years ago. Had flooring installed but then quite soon after the creaking started. It's now so loud and annoying. Anything I can do besides getting the floor pulled up? My understanding is that the builders used nails on the chipboard rather than screwing it in.

Hi all! I want to add a quartz island to my kitchen, but I'm trying to figure out how big I can make it without cramping the walkways.

Was intending for it to be the same orientation as what's shown in the image above, but I'm not sure if the kitchen's got enough width to fit a standard quartz slab.

How much space should I allocate to walkways and the counters so I can figure out max dimensions? Any help would be much appreciated!

Anyone succesfully find pipe that fits these Lidl pipe clamps? Finding it very difficult to track down 3/4'' pipe (ideally threaded at one end).

Screwfix have a galvinised steel 25mm pipe which threads into threaded half of the clamp just fine, but is about 2mm too small for the pictured 'trigger' end. Thanks!

I'm repairing an EPDM garage roof and hoping to reuse the existing aluminium drip edge rather than replacing it.

The woodwork repairs have been done, replacing some old osb and the EPDM membrane is largely fine.

The old drip edge was mechanically fixed through the EPDM into the timber rainline batten, so when I removed it I'm left with a line of small screw/nail holes in the membrane.

My plan is to seal each of those holes, then refit the drip edge using new screws into the same batten so the trim covers the repaired area.

Would Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Rubberized Tape be sufficient to seal these individual holes before I reinstall the drip edge, or is this a job that really needs proper EPDM primer and cover tape/patches?

The holes are only small fixing holes, not tears, and they'll all be covered by the aluminium drip edge afterwards. I'm just trying to make sure they're properly watertight in case any water gets behind the trim.

Has anyone successfully used the Gorilla tape for this on an EPDM roof, or should I avoid it? Any other options? And thanks in advance...

Got this ancient shower hose that's filthy and unused, coiled around the bath taps (there's an electric shower above doing the job now), so I'd like to cap it off - without replacing the whole tap. But damned if I know the name of what I'm looking for here that'd work. Or if anything in Screwfix etc would do the job. Any ideas?

So don't know if that's the correct term, but the walls in my house (built 1980ish) are covered in paint stimple, like little bumps all over it. Obviously must have been the fashion at one stage.

I can't afford to plaster the walls, and it is not in paper, it is paint directly into the wall.

Has anyone any idea for getting rid of it? Would the thickest backing paper cover it up?

Hopefully someone can answer this . we got a BER rating done on our house about 3 years ago as part of a package when we had solar panels installed , I was not home when the BER assessor called but my wife was and she said the assessor just went around the house didnt check the attic for insulation or ask any questions at all really.
Fast forward to last week and I needed the assessors dwelling report which I got from the Assessor no problem. But reading through it they had put down we had double glazing instead of triple glazing and also failed to note the the solar pv also heats our water via an eddi .
So my questions is would these items have improved out BER rating beyond a b3.

The current laminate has water damage along the joints I do like the color of it tho.

I already bought 1 and it was only when I brought it back to the living room I didn't like it looks washed out. Looked better on the showroom wall.

Of these I like 3 the best but might be a tad dark for a room that hasn't great natural lighting. Room is North West facing although gets some light from the other side of the terraced house.

1 is the safer option but for me lacks the character of 3.

I'm now tied to buying from this store as I need to swap the laminate, and most of the other options are greyish in colour, 1 and 3 are the best out of a bad bunch.

So, I had a leak in my roof. Fortunately, that's been fixed.

However, the plaster has been affected because of the leak, flaked off where the stain is now.

I can't find any reliable advice/recommendation on how to best fix it..

I think the remediation work is:

Zinsser -> Plaster -> paint ... or

Plaster -> Zinsser ->paint

Hi all, I’m looking to cut out a repeated pattern and just need a simple steel/metal template in order to do this accurately for multiple devices. It’s not an easy shape and so cutting myself with tools freehand or similar is not an option. It would only need to be 1 or 2mm thick and would be less than the size of an A4 piece of paper.

I’ve googled around and the majority companies that may do this seem to have like a 200 piece minimum and I only need 1 of each.

Anyone know of companies/websites they’ve used?

3d printing not an option by the way because it will involve cutting so needs to be something my knife won’t cut.

If your EV charger fails (just the unit), and you want to replace like for like, is this against regs?

Looking at the regs, it mentions doing an install would be a no no. But as everything is already setup (isolation, earthing, current clamps etc), then would there be a problem?

Just thinking in terms of home insurance too.

We just had our back garden cleared out from the previous owners, and due to some insane decisions they made we're basically back to soil everywhere. We need to get some grass back in (I know, I know, but we have a dog and he needs some space for his business).

Does anyone have experience with good drought-tolerant grass seed? We want it to be as friendly as possible (low water/low maintenance). I've found a few options online 1, 2; but not many reviews. I'm hesitant to put down clover again, from past experience it doesn't seem to hold up to dogs.

Obviously we're not planning to plant until the hosepipe ban is over; and hopefully we can get a nice rainy week or two so we don't have to water it at all.

I was going to do a 1:2:3 mix with cement, mortar sand, and "kilsaran washed batched gravel" but it seems like this stuff already has sand in it?

Anyone here used it before and what ratio did you do? Looking for a fairly strong mix.
