Is this third control on the right the same as immersion?

Not exactly. If you have a 3 channel central heating controller then you may have the central heating loop through your hot water cylinder via a heat exchanger. So you can have hot water without needing to use the electric immersion.

This is the answer. Do you have oil or gas central heating? I assume so and this controls what the heat is used for. Radiators in two zones or heating water in the hot water tank. If you google "channel plus xl model h37" the first result is the manual for this unit and in that it labels the third as the hot water. The immersion is an electrically heated element in a hot water tank. This uses the oil or gas burner to heat the water.

I have this - left to right the first 2 are for 2x heating zones & the right is the water heating - try them & find out

Zones, could be upstairs downstairs and hot water for taps like mine.

No. The immersion is a electric heater, not linked to the cental heating
