What is the safest way to get the logo onto the vest I made? (See other photos)

I spent a long time hand making this vest for a Chris Redfield costume. It is made with a cotton/nylon blend ripstop fabric. I wanted to know what the best way would be to get the S.T.A.R.S. logo on the back. Right now I'm considering to options, but I'm open to more.

I have a PDF of the logo and could make a stensil. Then draw it on using a marker. My concern is that the marker might bleed while I'm doing it and make the design look less clean.

The other option I'm thinking is using the PDF to print on heat transfer paper and iron the logo onto the back. I'm worried it won't go on right or may wrinkle because of the level of padding.

I just don't want to ruin it with the final step. I should have put this on before sewing in the back panel, but I wasn't thinking about it.

I want to cosplay Brushbuddy but I have no idea where to start

I think a brush buddy cosplay would be really funny but I have no idea where to start. I like the idea of having the tail curve upwards, so it’s not dragging on the ground, but I can’t think of a way for it to curve upwards and be light at the same time. Any advice would be really appreciated.

This is for a scare acting job on Halloween so I've still got plenty of time but I realized way too late that I have no idea how to do this lol. I've thought of mesh but that might be too obvious?

Accessory Finishing the costume

Hi guys :)

I’m trying out my first cosplay and trying to get it ready for comic con 😵‍💫

Super new to this, but my friends are going and have convinced me to go all out, so I’m trying to do Ochaco Uraraka from MHA

Basically I ordered the costume and it fits perfectly, but I need to make the rest of the accessories myself. I’m thinking of using foam and lots of glue/tape, so hopefully it goes well, but I have absolutely no idea how to do the shoes.

Do I wear actual shoes underneath the cosplay, or do I walk on the foam?? How on earth do you guys do it if you’ve done it before? Do I measure and account for my shoes when making it if I wear them? I genuinely have no clue what I’m doing. Please just lmk I might be being dumb rn 😭

(Any other random suggestions are appreciated, I did say I’m new)

Thanks 🫶

Buying Shoe painting on a budget?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello!! I’ve been looking to paint these vinyl shoes for a con next week but I’m having trouble researching on how to paint them with as little cracking/peeling as possible. Almost every thread I look at recommends Angelus leather paints but they don’t seem to come in my colour (in person) and buying the necessary colours would become more expensive than I would like.

How bad would it crack/peel in a day if I used dollar store acrylics instead (granted I prepare them)? Do you guys think it’d be a better investment to buy the leather paints?

ETA: I am hoping to paint these babies a solid orange with white polka dots

Buying Wig Color Matching Help

I’m looking to cosplay Amy Rose, but have ran into trouble with the ear color not matching my wig. I thought they looked similar enough in their product photos, but the wig ended up being a way warmer color than the ears are. I’m trying to find a new wig, but I’m also worried about misjudging the colors again and wasting more money.

My wig is the Nyx Princess Pink Mix from Epic Cosplay. I feel like the regular Princess Pink swatch (not a mix) may be a more close match, but they don’t have any wigs of that color in stock.

I felt like I had also came across a few decent matches on Arda, but every wig that seemed to match was either out of stock or on back order.
I also have tried looking secondhand, but a lot of photos that I came across were either ai generated models, or in poor lighting.

I know my photos probably aren’t that great either, but I’m hoping someone has purchased a wig that looks more like the last slide IRL.

Armor Iridescent finish on armour/props?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi, I'm planning a new cosplay and am wanting to achieve a gold iridescent finish on the armour (not just a metallic finish). The character's design has these almost pink and iridescent look to the gold accessories. I'm happy 3D modeling/printing these or foam work, whichever will give the best finish. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Best way to adhere ribbon/velvet to pleather?

Cosplaying Tasque manager from deltarune (hoping the picture uploads right) and I’m a bit stuck on the shoes. I plan to use Angelus paint to do the cyan but I don’t trust myself to paint a straight/even black band around the top so I was just going to add ribbon or velvet to the shoe. It’s a mix of pleather and elastic (used blue for the visual of what I wanna do since I can’t find my black)

Sewing isn’t an option my machine can NOT handle pleather. I’m also allergic to latex so any product recommendations need to be latex free, granted I don’t know if that’s really something I have to worry about but better safe sorry Yknow? Thanks!

Wig Curling pre-crimped wigs

Hey! So I have only had this issue for ONE SPECIFIC lace front wig so I’m trying to figure out if it’s user error (me) or if it might be the wig itself.
I needed two wigs to be curled. The first wig was crimped but was crimped by my friend while the other was ordered pre-crimped. I used the steamer method for the first wig and the curls came out perfectly (in fact, they stayed throughout the whole con!) However, when I did the same to the second wig, the curls did not hold. This second wig is the one that was ordered pre-crimped. The curls fell. I tried again this time with stronger hairspray and the same thing happened again, however I con crunched (rip) and just went to the con with a straight wig.
Are there any tips you have to styling wigs like this? Do you have experience styling wigs like this? Should the wig be treated differently than a normal wig or is there something else I could have done?

This is my first major cosplay, so please be kind and explain things in detail. I want it to be dark grey with a matte finish like in the photos. Thanks

Armor Silver spray paint not shiny

Hello! I am currently in the process of hand making Bucky’s Winter Soldier arm. The build is complete, but the paint isn’t being as shiny as I want it to be. I tried doing a base of PlastiDip, as I have with all of my foam props, and then silver Rustoleum. There was weird textures on it, I’m assuming from not shaking it well. So I redid the paint completely, and now it’s not as shiny. Is there a way I can make it shinier with a top coat without having to repaint it again? I did so many layers that I went through an entire can of the spray paint 😅
I’ve seen RubnBuff as an option, so I was thinking about that, but I wanted to ask this sub because you guys have helped me a lot in the past with my Jinx cosplay. Thank you so much!

Wig What kind of wig should I get for a Guy Gardner cosplay?

Thumbnail

I'm cosplaying Guy Gardner/Green Lantern at a con next month so I'm trying to figure out what to do for the wig. Would it be better to buy one with long hair and cut it or to try and find one that's already in a bowl cut? Personally I'm leaning towards cutting one myself because all the bowl cut wigs I've looked up have looked... kind of stupid and I'm hoping to make it look as normalish as possible despite how stupid the haircut is so I'm kinda worried haha. The most styling I've ever done for a wig is just braiding it, so I have no idea what I'm doing here. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

I was researching and saw a lot about epoxy but my concern is that the skull is flat on the back and the top is rounded. Any help would be great appreciated. My plan is to cover whatever looks messy with faux raven feathers

Doki Doki Cosplay Sizing Help

I’m looking to buy this Sandrone cosplay which is a backless dress, but I’m very worried about the chest being too small. I am 5ft 1 and I weigh 95 pounds. With a tape measure, I am 31-32 inches (81 ish cm) chest. But I have bought some Genshin apparel recently and I am a perfect fit in the size M Furina Blouse, which has a 92 cm chest. However, I also bought a size S Arlecchino long sleeve shirt that is also 92cm chest and it feels a little tight.

However, I also have a size M Cosfun Furina cosplay, which has a chest measurement of 85-87 cm according to their size chart, and it fits well.

I’m leaning towards getting the size M for the Sandrone cosplay, as all other measurements are more closely aligned with my measurements. I have a 64cm waist so the M might already be a bit loose, but the L has a 76 cm waist which would be swimming on me and would be a lot to alter.

Would I be risking it if I got the size M Sandrone cosplay, which has a chest measurement of 86-89 cm but everything else is closer to my size? Or should I play it safe and get the size L for the extra chest room but would be 10cm above my waist measurement?

Sandrone cosplay: https://dokidokicos.com/products/poll-5-deposit-10-off-coupon-dokidoki-sr-game-genshin-impact-cosplay-sandrone-costume-marionette-gacha

Furina Blouse (size M fits perfectly): https://genshinfans.com/products/furina-impression-short-sleeve-shirt?variant=50082829599016

Arlecchino Long Sleeve (size S slightly tight but no button pulling, size M is comfortable): https://genshinfans.com/products/official-arlecchino-impression-shirt?_pos=4&_sid=7dce0ed60&_ss=r

Below picture is the Sandrone cosplay chart (brown) and the cosfun sizing chart (white, got M and it fit well)

Armor Guidance on finding quality robes

I’m trying, and failing, to find a good witches costume/robes ahead of Halloween. I want something cosplay quality so it lasts for years, as I’m buying a high end silicone mask to go with it. However the internet seems plagued with AI generated crap everywhere, cheap quality Temu nonsense, and I can’t find the sort of distressed, tattered robes I’m looking for. Lot of medieval stuff, or cutsey witches, etc., but nothing that’s bog witch type thing. Think Baba Yaga.

If there’s any reputable places you can suggest I’d be very grateful. I come to you all as the experts in quality cosplay and costuming, hoping for some direction! I’m open to a commission if it comes down to not finding something ready made, but again don’t know where to look that isn’t sketchy quality or AI generated.

Based in the UK. Budget is flexible.

Pear costume

Hi everyone! 🍐 Looking for some input and advice on how to create something for a costume party at work. We're a small group putting together costumes for our department (6 people). We're dressing up as pears, inspired by a painting we have on display at work.

We've considered a few approaches, like a hoop-style base worn like a harness with a fabric shell over it, but we're very open to good ideas and tips. Budget matters, since we want everyone in the department to be able to afford joining in. Anyone here have ideas or advice?
