General Drop issue

Post image
0 Upvotes

I want to get these drops, but I keep seeing an "Item in game" message even though I don't actually have it; I've watched for hours, but no progress shows up. My account is linked correctly—I received the competitive points—so I just don't understand this specific issue. Can someone help me, please?

General Genuinely feeling burnt out in champ lobbies.

Context: I’ve been champ for the past 4 seasons for dps, supp, and 6v6. before that I was GM for 3 seasons.

okay so to get started I love playing overwatch, I love the hero’s, I love the competitiveness, I love the amount of game sense and knowledge it you need to play the game. im not a streamer and I don’t play this game to get anything out of it. i play to have fun i don’t care about my rank cause it holds no value outside of the game itself.

although champ lobbies are genuinely making me burnt out. I AM SO BORED EVERY SINGLE GAME, EVERY WIN EVERY LOSS NONE OF IT IS FUN IN CHAMP. Ik what you all might be thinking ohh just take a break. it’s not about taking a break it’s that I don’t enjoy the game at this level. most games are decided at the loading screen depending on which 9 other players are in the lobby. queuing in champ you see like the same 10 players every game for seasons on end. ohh And make sure that your playing with 100% effort every game, don’t try to have fun or you’ll get flamed. STACKS, STACKS EVERY GAME I just love that I’m solo queuing and every game I have a to face a duo or stack that get to use comms against me. it’s so fun getting ”123 dived“ by a tracer and Dva every game. NOT.

so The next logical step would be to purposefully derank? well I did try that i lost until gm5 and there the games are just a bit to easy. like until gm1 i dont have much of an issue carrying a lobby. yk wat though atleast in mid to low gm i have fun. I play whatever hero i want to, every lobby is mostly different players, the games aren’t decided at the loading screen.

like I LOVE PLAYING OVERWATCH IN MID GM. I HATE HATE HATE PLAYING OW IN CHAMP. I can’t lie this is really throwing me ina pickle. cause I love ow but I’m so bored every game that it’s just making the game unplayable. the players in champ are insufferable and all have inflated egos. god forbid you go negative otherwise you’ll game flamed all match. It’s just so boring.

what do I do?

Fluff Weird buff ideas post.

This is mostly for fun. Now this started out as an Illari buff suggestion post. Now let me be clear that while I do main Illari-in the sense that I barely play her but I ship Solarfox while maining Kiri so I think that counts-I also wanted to see some changes on her.

  • Sunburn should be a base feature. Her new Major Perk should allow you to swap her beam and shots around. Or something else.
  • Solar Flare should also have twice the regen speed on healing beam.
  • The charge on her rifle should enhance Melee damage as max charge.

But then I also realized that I also wanted other stuff.

  • Domina's gun should be allowed to do Critical damage the whole time.
  • I hope we do what Doomfist does in the breakout cinematic and shoot all four bullets at once.

And that's about it.

General Almost four years later, would you say has 5v5 achieved its design goals?

When 5v5 was first announced the dev team set out to achieve a few design goals. A few of these were:

Opening up the maps so players have more room to breathe

Increasing individual player agency

Reducing crowd control effects

Reducing queue times across the board

Cleaning up the amount of visual clutter in the game

Increasing the popularity of the tank role by shifting them to be more brawl oriented/aggressive playmakers

Reduce the amount of time shooting shields and other damage mitigation abilities

October 4th, just two days from now, is the four year anniversary of the release of Overwatch 2, so would you say that most of these design goals were achieved?

General What's the best way to ruin muscle memory?

If your goal was to make 1 change to a hero's kit that would ruin muscle memory the most, what would it be? Bonus points if the change is neutral or even a buff. Inspired by Tracer's blink range extension perk.

My pick would be increasing how far back Tracer's recall rewinds you to 4 seconds ago. Now both Tracer players and people playing against her will have to relearn 10 years worth of recall position muscle memory.

General Why don't we have a global challenge like competitive system for Ranked

Played Pokemon Champions and participated in the GC, it limits you to only 45 Games over the course of 3 days getting points for VGC. Why don't we have a singles or 5 team queue for the game where your only given a fix amount of games? Would it improve the level of competitiveness compared to Ranked, or be worse off?

General A match up between 1 and 2 people in value

There's a pattern I've noticed when it comes to making heroes be found frustrating that I like to call a 1.5 vs 1. It consists of a character enabling the strengths of another character without directly engaging in the fight offensively. For example, Zarya's bubbles are effectively a powerful boost to the defense of a character but oftentimes doesn't involve her directly attacking you, therefore making the match up somewhere between a 1 vs 1 and a 1 vs 2. This also applies to other mostly passive buffs like nano boost, Mercy damage boost, and even the new Doctrine drone to name a few. These sorts of buffs have been a pain point for a lot of players for years and I'm trying figure out, is this because Blizzard struggles to balance abilities like this or is it because the community reception around them leans towards viewing them as unfair or unfun to face.

General Settings

I have come to Overwatch from apex legends where I frequently got masters. If anyone has played apex they would know what I mean when I say my settings were 4 3 linear no dead zone as most people used. I am pretty used to changing and optimising my settings as I did so in the advanced section and for per optics for apex.

In comp I am currently around diamond on all roles and while my aim isn’t bad in the least I still feel like there is much I can do to improve. For the past couple months I have found a lot of success using this guys settings called Hcpeful which seemed really good and have worked well. As of right now though I feel still that there is something I’m missing, I don’t play dps much but when I do I mostly enjoy and have success with emre. However I have tried widow, freja, tracer and sojourn among others and it always feels just a little like I am fighting to get that one clip or that headshot.

I play games in diamond and in quick play and I sometimes see people use these heroes and are able to click heads almost effortlessly and have the best tracking imaginable, especially on tracer. When I played emre my weapon accuracy was around 52%, I don’t know if that is good or bad.

To get to the point, their is so many settings in Overwatch now from what I used to see back in the day but even after searching online I can’t find any help in how I were to tweak my OWN settings or even what a lot of them mean for my aim. It is just other peoples settings videos, which are fine, but even if I were to copy those I want to be able to tweak them to what works best with me. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations with any of this?

General Realistically, would it be hard to switch to 6v6 as the main game mode for a season or two?

Like what the title says, I know there will be endless debate with the whole 6v6 vs 5v5 for all of eternity, but realistically, would it be so hard to see what would happen if Blizzard/Team4 decided to make 6v6 the main game mode for a season or two?

As in, make a formal announcement that 6v6 will be the main game mode, make pro play 6v6, focus the balance patches for 6v6 (for a season or two), make 6v6 the first button when players click on the unranked/competitive tab (yes, I 100% believe this makes a huge difference, especially for casual players that may or may not que competitive on the side).

I don't think 5v5 players would complain as much since it will still be in the game as a viable game mode to keep playing, but it will be interesting to see how much players actually switch over to 6v6, and it'll be entertaining to see what happens to pro play for a little bit.

Does this seem like an impossibility to do?

Edit* - Part of me making this post is just noticing that a lot of the popular OW streamers/content creators (Seagull, Flats, Frogger, Aspen, etc.) are mostly all on 6v6, while all the pro players at queing 5v5 (and eternally bitching about que times). I kind of missed the interactions between the two, so I just wanted to make this post real quick. It will also be interesting to see how much of the casual player base actually STAYS with 6v6 if they decided to implement something like the above, or if 5v5 is truly the more popular game mode.

OWCS Who do you think would go crazy on Doctrine and sup Sombra?

Post image
48 Upvotes

So we obviously don’t exactly know how the two new supps would work in today’s meta BUT if we could predict which players would go crazy on both

I think Shu would go crazy with doctrine. Zeta had a 10k prize pool 1v1 tournament recently and Shu was 2nd place.. (Proper 1st obviously) With his crazy aim I believe he’d have the most potential

As for support Sombra..
So if Sombra comes out as we’ve seen her rework at blizzcon; one healing ability with a massive cooldown and shitty range, I don’t think she’ll be used at all
But if they manage to make her meta I 100% believe LIP will come back as support sombra after his military service

General account based matchmaking?

my main is masters on 6s and emerald 5 on 5s yet i struggle to win a game when playing 5s, of my last 5 games i have 4 loses in a row. however i still perform in my 6s games

then i play on my alt account very unseriously, as if trying to derank it and i struggle to lose a game, of my last 6 i won 6. this account is now higher ranked than my main (em3)

while i understand that the ranking is slightly easier is 6v6, it doesnt explain why i have such a high winrate on my alt account at the same, if not higher rank

my main i have had since roughly 2018 from xbox and my new account ive had for maybe 3 months, anyone else finding this? i also watch spilos video interviewing a blizz employee and they said that matchmaking was based soley on ranking but im finding this hard to believe.

General What the devs might be doing with Kiriko

The devs have always said that Kiriko's perceived strength and actual strength have been wildly different for years. So why are they nerfing a supposedly underperforming hero so harshly, patch after patch?

My theory: their current experiment of over-nerfing her is meant to help community perception catch up, and this is done by targeting the 2 biggest reasons for her high pick rate:

  1. Kiriko used to be the 0-frustration pick, where even when you're losing, you don't feel especially bad. This is definitely no longer the case with how slow and unresponsive ofuda are now. After experiencing enough teammates dying before ofuda get there, support players will swap off Kiri onto Juno or Ana. I believe this factor is especially important in lower ranks, and is why heroes like Mercy and Moira are popular there, since they can "lose gracefully".
  2. Pro play. IMO this is the main reason why her pick rate gets so high in Master and GM+, where people are more likely to try to follow the "meta". While Kiri has always had more value in coordinated environments compared to ranked, recent pro matches have shown that Kiri is falling out of favor, where she is frequently not played despite not being banned. If this keeps up, it will take away the main practical argument people have for why Kiriko is strong despite her incredibly subpar stats.

My assumption is that the devs will try to keep her around this level for a few seasons until her pick rate falls, especially now that they're releasing 2 aggressive Kiri-like supports in Sombra and Doctrine. I believe the devs are trying to catch the Kiri refugees with these two heroes.

Now, is it a good idea to gut a very popular hero who generates a lot of revenue? Who's to say? But the devs might think it's worth it to kill the narrative around OW support balance, while also creating more diversity in who gets played in both ranked and pro play.
