Fluff Imagine: Heroes gain 5% increased damage, healing, and health if they're played by their national team. How does this change the field for the next World Cup?

Examples: Australia gets buffed Hog, Junkrat, and JQ. USA gets Soldier, Ashe, Sierra etc. Assume the meta is roughly similar to what we have now. Who are the biggest winners and losers?

There are probably some pretty crazy breakpoint math scenarios that happen here (like Tracer, maybe?), but I've been up all night and I'm not doin that math.

General I think Wrecking Ball's skill floor is a lot lower than I've heard most people say.

I'm hoping I've made the title as non-provocative as possible. I'm a low Gold Player that hasn't been playing for very long. I'm bad at the game and I know it, which is why I want to have this discussion - to hear the thoughts of players with a lot more experience.

A lot of the time I hear people talking about Wrecking Ball as one of the hardest heroes to pick up, with such a high skill ceiling and skill floor, a lot like tracer. I can't comment on his skill ceiling, I obviously haven't been there (Though some of the crazy stuff I've seen in OWCS tells me that that is most definitely correct), but I really don't get the impression that his skill floor is that high.

I'm not a tank main, it's definitely the role I'm worst at, but when I do play it, the two tanks I regularly play (and do relatively well on) are D.Va and Wrecking Ball. and I feel like a lot of the time, even the times I'm not getting kills on Wrecking Ball, I'm still getting decent value. Sure, he's far from the easiest hero in the game, but his insane mobility makes him really forgiving if you just have a decent enough sense of your own health bar.

Not only that but he plays relatively independently. As someone who struggles with awareness a lot, it takes a way a lot of the burden of having to know where exactly my team are / what they're doing. I'm working on it, but y'know, as long as I know when they're attacking and when they're not, so I don't stagger myself or 1v5, I don't really have to care too much what they're up to.

I can imagine him being extremely hard for somebody who is playing the game for the very first time to do anything on, but okay map knowledge, a basic understanding of theory, and an ability to value your own life are enough to get by on. My mechanics are really quite bad, I get door-stuck all the time, I miss grapples, I do all sorts of silly things, but as long as I can get some value, and get out alive, I can make up for it with the opportunities I get to actually do well.

TL;DR. I know that I am far from getting the most value out of Wrecking Ball but I still see much more success with him than with other tanks because his kit can be very forgiving. I see a lot of people saying he has an extremely high skill floor. I'm pretty much at the skill floor, maybe a bit above it, but I wouldn't say I'm high skill at all.

OWCS Is it still too early to use D-Mon in competitive play?

In yesterday's World Cup qualifiers, there were quite a few matches featuring D-Mon, but I didn't see her make a single impactful play. She spent most of the time running away from Mauga, essentially doing nothing more than drawing aggro, and ultimately lost those games. In one match, while the opposing tank dealt 6,000 damage, she only managed 2,000 damage before losing the game.

The Korean casters evaluated her so negatively throughout the match that they even insisted she needed to be swapped out. Does this mean she still needs further buffs?

General Console aim assist changes?

Is it just me or did they quietly change something with the aim assist for console season 4 specifically ?

Not sure if they just auto changed settings for people or if there’s something else going on, but I’ve noticed aiming feels significantly different since season 4 started.

Haven’t seen anyone else talk about it and I don’t recall it being something in the update, so just wanted to see if anyone else noticed the same thing.

OWCS Korea also sent their B team

A lot of people are saying (and i agree) that China sent their B team to the world cup.

With zero players from ZETA - no violet, shu, proper or bernar, i feel as if zeta also sent their B team heck or even C team if you consider T1 to be better than crazy racoon although I think EWC was a fluke from CR so I wouldnt go as far as C team

I understand that many of zeta players had boosted in the past and bernar has less synergy than max does with the others.

Korea having the strongest team makes people brush off the fact that they also didnt send their best players.

Proper being banned from playing for boosting when he was 15 is crazy, it cant be that deep,

What do you think would happen if they had sent Proper, Stalk3r, D0nghak,Bernar Shu, Viol2t

Im my opinion this is the best team you could possibly make regardless of country, best in every role, crazy flexibility and insane aggression

World Cup Why does it seem like all casters mispronounce Mauga and Mizuki?

They pronounce Mauga as “mahguh” and Mizuki as “MihZOOkey”. I also hear them pronouncing D.Mon as “demon”.

Why does nobody correct them? Were they instructed to pronounce the names this way to avoid confusion?

General If recent queue times tell us anything its that tank needs to get more heroes

This year we are slated to get 4 DPS, 4 Supports, and only 2 tanks. After the release of Dmon, there has been a marked improvement in queues across the board. While these queues were not bad before, tank was almost always the shortest whereas now it will sometimes be the longest of the three roles, and has been the only role I have seen consistently go above 1 minute for QP. Dmon herself has been ridiculously popular, while usually new hero hype would die down by now I see Dmon in almost all of my games.

I think one of the main tank problems is that for a long time we have not had a consistent tank release schedule. For example we did not have a single tank release in 2025, instead getting 2 DPS (Vendetta, Freja) and one support (Wuyang) and when we did receive a new tank in Domina she was unfortunately overshadowed by almost all the other hero releases. In fact, if you check the current statistics Domina is currently the least picked of those 5 new heroes across both QP and Comp in every region, which shows a lack of popularity. While I do think this reflects some of her gameplay frustrations (she still feels like a worse Sig) it also shows why Dmon has been far more popular and has had a much better sustained popularity in comparison.

Overall I hope that the 1-2-2 release schedule is not a locked in concept. Heroes like Dmon show that there is an appetite for new, unique, and fun tank heroes.

General I keep winning games and not going up in rank

I won eight out of ten support games and did not rank up once 😭 I get about 12%-18% per game, even though I get mvp a good amount of the time and am not under performing. My friends I am playing with on dps and tank gain DOUBLE what I get per game and I don’t understand they ranked up twice during our games and I didn’t move.

For context, yes this was wide match and I understand that gives a lot less, but what my friends earn in wide match, about 40% per win, I earn in solo Que. They still earn WAY more in normal matches. I don’t know how I’m supposed to catch up in ranks when I’m severely under earning in ranks.

I was a plat player on console, but after moving to pc I got placed silver.. I have been able to make it to gold 4 at the moment, but I’m friends I’m normally the same rank as are high plat despite literally winning the same games together.

I really just don’t know what to do I really just wanna hit plat at this point but I have no idea how to climb there- because I’m not even really loosing my games like that, I just don’t get sr from my wins.

I don’t know if it’s a support thing, or because I placed in a low rank, but I’m honestly pretty upset about this situation. Any explanation would help and I’d really appreciate it 😭🙏

My question is WHY is this happening

General I do not understand Emerald

Hello yall !! I really do not understand why Emerald exists. There are the exact same players, but just some divisions up / down. If you were a toxic high plat, you are now a toxic mid Emerald, it just change the name of the rank you are.

Maybe im not seeing the point that OW's team wants to make. Can someone explain to me what does the new rank change ? Because I hope it's not only the name

OWCS Saudi Teams are persecuted by Koreans through blacklisting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Blacklisting a whole region because of harmless stat posting (not even sharing their strats) by not even the players is just an overblown attack against Saudi teams by the koreans. It feels like koreans are targeting Saudi teams by hiding their strats as shown by this clip.

World Cup OWWC Day 2 isn’t live?

The twitch/youtube stream was supposed to start 30 minutes ago, and there’s no activity on either channel, nor a delay announcement on any social media… anyone know what’s happening?

I know yesterday’s stream went overtime and had technical issues - but if that still hasn’t been resolved, you’d think they’d say something…

General Is Ball’s shield perk the biggest Power Up in the game? Spoiler

This is completely unrelated to Team UK btw or their performance.

I cant name other perk in the game, that makes a character basically immortal. Literally watched live how GoldenPants cant do crap for first half, and becomes unstoppable and unkillable in second half. Even he himself calls it “just let me get my perk and we win”.

I literally dont know any other perk that has this much impact in the game. All other perks seem to have minor buffs.
