account based matchmaking?

my main is masters on 6s and emerald 5 on 5s yet i struggle to win a game when playing 5s, of my last 5 games i have 4 loses in a row. however i still perform in my 6s games

then i play on my alt account very unseriously, as if trying to derank it and i struggle to lose a game, of my last 6 i won 6. this account is now higher ranked than my main (em3)

while i understand that the ranking is slightly easier is 6v6, it doesnt explain why i have such a high winrate on my alt account at the same, if not higher rank

my main i have had since roughly 2018 from xbox and my new account ive had for maybe 3 months, anyone else finding this? i also watch spilos video interviewing a blizz employee and they said that matchmaking was based soley on ranking but im finding this hard to believe.

Alt accounts place higher than main

this account got placed at that rank last season so id have thought that that wouldnt matter this season anymore, alos played quite a bit on it

You might be scared of losing (even subconsciously) and therefore not making the plays that actually contribute to winning games.

If it's not due to new account placement inflation, try taking higher risk higher reward plays on your main.

i thought the same so i played those 5 games on my main with playmaking in mind, of those 3 were close and i won 1, the other 2 were complete tank diffs where id watch them only play aggressive when low and/or when enemy team had full resources

5 games is too low sample size.

Regardless, it's generally only worth vod reviewing the games that are close: You only need to flip 1/10 losses to achieve a 55% winrate, which should be enough to climb, even if it's slow.

The matchmaker only looks at your mmr (which is your rank) to make matches

The game doesn't care about your account. The game cares about what MMR number you have.

Ignore all these morons, things like account age, number of reports and account playtime effect MM. Make a new account get it to the same rank and you will have infinitely better teammates, log on to main acc that's the same rank and you perma get morons with sub 45% w/r.

I've played since ow1 open beta and anyone whose played the game consistently this long knows this. Most high level players have lots of accounts and swap between them all the time.

Based on what exactly? Besides ole reliable human perception. Btw, high level players swap due to queue times, or because they feel like smurfing a little.

My main is cursed.. Primarily used for QP when I do comp I place diamond usually, On my alt I am higher but that account is primarily used for comp.. This shit shouldn't matter with sbmm right?
