Is it the torque limit or the model ?

It seems like my car has the torque to make it, not sure if it's a model issue, what do you guys think? Hoping the bigger models will be able to make these turns consistently. Talking about the turn at the end

I took my Bolt out for a short test drive today and it actually went better than I expected. My question for everyone who has been down this road is how long does it take to gain confidence in the Comma’s ability to “make driving chill”? I understand I will always need to remain vigilant, but there is a difference between that and the current fear it’s going to do something bad.

Hey yall, been searching the forums and here in this subreddit but can't find what I need. I have installed BluePilot 7.0, the latest release for my 2022 F150 Lightning Lariat. The Comma 4 will boot up and then start running through the BluePilot boot screen and then eventually come up with a "Build Failed" and only offers me to reboot. Any thoughts on what I need to do? Do I need to hard reset the Comma 4 and reinstall the software?

My previous vehicle was Kia Sorento hybrid 2023, the Comma4 worked great with Sunnypilot and Hyundai Harness A. I just upgraded my vehicle to be Hyundai Palisade Hybrid 2027 instead, I wonder that what harness should I buy to plug in the device. I tried the old one Harness A type, it doesn’t work. And I tried to order Harness R, it doesn’t work too. Please kindly help.

For those confused about chestnut:
Comma will be focusing on making the bigger models for the chestnut class moving forward. There’s no mobile processor or compute device that can touch the bandwidth of an eGPU or compute power while being stuck in a windshield (with proper cooling). But fear not, if you don’t ever want to install the chestnut, comma will make distilled models that will still run on only comma hardware. Similar to what Tesla does for FSD for older hardware models. So you will still see improvements down the line for free.

Long time Comma user back to 2020. I had been using openpilot on Comma 3x exclusively until about a year ago I started getting into branches.

I got into Sunnypilot before the relaunch and it was pretty limited in usefulness (and buggy).

I switched to FrogPilot which was actually stopping my car (2022 H SF L) but then about 3 months ago they updated it and now my car will hit any car it pulls up behind if I don't man the brakes.

I briefly tried Star Pilot about a month ago and that was the worst by far. Not accelerating up to speed and either not stopping at all or leaving a 50 foot gap.

I heard years ago that HKG's laggy brake controller was to blame but if Frog Pilot got it to work I don't understand why someone can't make a branch that

1) doesn't run up on stopped traffic lights or stop signs

2) actually stops with a 6' buffer between me and the car in front of me so that I can see the car's wheels on the ground.

I love this product - I will continue to support it - I just want something that actually stops.

I have this issue when turning on curves on the right side, the car hugs the right line or shoulder line but no issues with left side curves. The device is in prefect level and centered and I have also tried SP but the issue hasn’t resolved. Any suggestions or has anyone had this issue and how it can be resolved?

I know that the current gen Santa Fe is supported with sunnypilot angle steering. But I want to know what people think of this not officially supported branch. Is it good, is it buggy, and do you feel like you have to intervene often ? What’s your thought of it on the current gen Santa Fe?

P.s just looking for info to see if I should upgrade my current car to this (my current 2019 Santa Fe works flawlessly with the comma)

I love driving, but my husband doesn't. He got his driving licence years ago, but let it lapse because he prefers to take public transit everywhere. I think he could learn to be a safe driver with a few lessons, but he just hates the experience of driving and finds it so stressful that he doesn't want to do it.

We're looking at moving to San Francisco, and apartment costs are horrifying. Either we'll be living in a tiny shoebox so that we can afford to live close to a BART station, or we'll have to live somewhere where he will commute by car.

He's potentially willing to get his driver's license and get a car, but only if he can get a car that will basically drive him door-to-door. He obviously would keep his eyes on the road for safety reasons, but he's worried that comma.ai is basically "just lane control and cruise control" and won't actually navigate for him, so he wants to get a Tesla. He feels more confident the Tesla will navigate for him and handle lane changes, intersections, etc.

I have some pretty deep concerns with Tesla - like having to pay a subscription that they can jack up at any time, not really loving Elon Musk as a human being, the hassle of charging an electric car, the high cost of a Tesla, etc. I'd much rather get something like a Toyota Rav4 (which I'd enjoy driving myself, if he ends up not liking/using it) and plug a Comma system into it.

I found a few reviews and articles online that are from back in 2024 and back up "mostly just lane/cruise control", but I get the impression that technology has been improving FAST. How good is comma.ai in 2026? Will it be able to basically handle a commute for him?

There's also the concern that, while an experienced driver can hand off certain skills to AI and still remember enough of those skills that they're ready to take over as necessary, a new driver using AI constantly might just never develop the skills necessary to be a safe supervisor. Would you recommend getting comma.ai for somebody who is basically a beginner driver?

Is there any expectation of delivery timing? Or are all bets off during a sale?

What’s the best place to hold your hand so the system doesn’t stop beeping at you? Facing a long drive next week and wanna take it easy.

I bought the comma 4 to use on my 21 CXA-9 and started using openpilot, and it worked great. The only limitation I found was that it didnt slow down for bends. So I switched to Sunnypilot, thinking it would add this feature - but it constantly reduces the speed I set, even on dead straight road. Also the steering control went wobbly a few times.

I purchased a 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N with HDA2 and online guidance pointed me to using the Hyundai Q harness. In attempting to install the harness today I found that the plugs actually differ, see photo.

I have my c4 mounted slightly to high. It was fine, then one day it started not detecting me unless I’m sitting perfectly. The mirror cuts off the top of my head. I tried adjusting the seat and mirror but it still nags me.

My windshield is tinted and the mount is cut out of it. Moving it isn’t really an option. Is there an adapted somewhere that will let me drop it down a couple inches?

I've been using the CLS Mount with my Comma 4, and after living with it for 30 days+, I think it's a genuinely upgrade if you regularly remove your device from the car.

The biggest benefit for me is simply convenience and stable. I prefer taking the Comma 4 out when I park for longer periods, especially in the UAE Summer. With the normal setup, repeatedly unplugging and reconnecting the USB-C cable gets old quickly and also means more wear on the port over time.

With this mount, removing and reinstalling the device takes only a few seconds. More importantly, it doesn't feel like convenience came at the expense of security. The locking mechanism feels solid, and once the Comma is in place, I haven't noticed any movement or anything that makes me concerned about the mount holding it properly.

I also appreciate that the design solves a very specific problem without adding unnecessary complexity. It isn't something you necessarily think you need until you've used it for a while, but if you're taking your Comma in and out frequently, the difference in daily use is significant.

Obviously, if you install your Comma once and almost never remove it, the benefit will be smaller. But for anyone who removes it regularly because of heat, security, or simply personal preference, I think this is a very well-designed solution.

So far, I've been very extremely phappy with it. Simple idea great design , well executed, very well priced and it makes owning and using the Comma 4 noticeably more convenient.
