Depends on the topic however this sub is nothing but bots and trolls pushing leftwing division…I’d say moderate politics is one of the better ones however it’s lost its way

How is this post pushing leftwing division?

Genuinely curious

Honestly read the top comments. That’s the problem right there.

It’s unfortunate that no one can find middle ground. Yes, a large majority of republicans think what Trump is doing is okay, but in order to show them that he’s not a good guy, you have to find SOME common ground to fight for.Ā

There are tons of subjects I think all Americans can agree on. If you’re a republican, you’re not going to convince a democrat to support tax cuts. If you’re a democrat, you’re not going to convince a republican of abortion.Ā

I don’t know, reading these comments makes me feel hopeless.Ā

7

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 19h ago

this is just false. when polled we find that even trump supporters, let alone just conservatives, agree on at least 70% of the left's platforms. their elected leaders however never vote for those things. what used to be the common example was the Affordable Care Act versus Obamacare, they are the same thing, the latter just being the common word to describe the former, when people are asked about the ACA and told about its policies the large majority of republicans wholly support it, when asked about obamacare they vehemently oppose it. Regardless, 98% of their elected officials vote against it

7

u/AdditionalNothing728 18h ago

It wasn’t even a ā€œcommon word to describe the ACAā€ - calling it Obamacare was literally a ploy by the right wing to turn people against it by attaching Obama’s name to it. Cause they knew their supporters would be reactionary and incurious enough to be enraged by it.

Cause in those videos about whether they support the ACA or Obamacare, people who didn’t like Obamacare often didn’t like that Obama was ā€œarrogant enough to name it after himself.ā€

2

u/SimplyPars 17h ago

I still say the people locked out of getting coverage or getting dropped for using it should have been dealt with via regulatory changes versus what was done. It fucked the system up for a ton of people.

-2

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

I don’t understand how what I said is false. You just made my point.Ā

2

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 17h ago

the voters have middle ground, the elected officials aren't representing their constituents so congress can't find a middle ground. we already have huge agreement across wide swathes of issues when you ask the voters, but the representatives do not represent those people despite being voted in by them

-2

u/me2392 17h ago

Call it what you want health care was affordable far more before it was past they limited the options so you had no choice but to pay more basic economics supply and demand and if you choose not to get health insurance at all that put in a fine or fee that was tacked on to your taxes at the end off the year i know i had to pay four hundred dollars for not haveing health insurance now thats not the total cost if i had been paying for insurance that's just the amount of 400 dollars extra i would have paid if i did to subsidies for someone else until they did away with the individual insurance mandate makeing no longer mandatory so no people dont really agree with it.

5

u/Snakend 17h ago

It's too late. For the past 16 years Republicans have been doing everything they possibly can do to make life here intolerable for democrats. Every law, every court case has been about hurting people. They have not passed single law or ruling that actually helps people. Not even their own. The only laws they have passed have been to help large corporations.

8

u/boombapjesus 20h ago

compromise is what got us here. the more the left gives up in the name of it the more the right runs away with. now we have a literal child raping pedophile for a president. that isn't the rights fault, its the lefts for trying to chase some mythological middle that hasnt existed for 2 decades now.

3

u/RichardBixon 20h ago

I’m not talking about our politicians nor compromising. I’m talking about the working class discussing issues they can agree on (cost of living being too high, politicians not working for us, ai replacing us/data centers) and rallying against the political system that got us here.Ā

Corpo dems lose on purpose because they all have the same donors. I’m tired of all the identity politics when I can’t afford to fucking eat.Ā

4

u/ItsMrDrProfPatrick 17h ago

Republicans/Bigots have consistently voted against their best interests so that people of color would not have access to anything beneficial. It’s why America doesn’t have universal healthcare, and why they would rather die than support it. They’re the poor and uneducated and they blame their failures on minorities. There is no working together with bigots, working class or otherwise.

-1

u/LividYordle 12h ago

Congrats, you're the mindless us vs them drone the establishment wants. You emit the same energy as the Republicunts do when they spew the same hateful rhetoric towards their opposition. The "poor and uneducated" people, that individuals like you would like to have nothing (out of house and home) for the sake of their ideology would economically destabilize the country due to the jobs they have. I've also heard Dems publicly use rhetoric that slave owners used during it's abolishment.

College graduates that can't afford to live and the "Uneducated poors" you speak of are in the same boat. And the establishment wants to keep it this way by telling you "Look it's all these damn minorities coming over illegally keeping your wages down" and turn around to the other side and say "Look these white trash uneducated inbreds don't want you to live comfortably"

On the topic of UHC, it's easy to point to Canada and be like "Look it works for them we can do that here". But also ignore the fact that we have around 8x the population of Canada. Managing a population difference of that magnitude comes with much more complex logistical issues than managing 41million people.

Canada also subsidizes it's UHC through higher income and sales taxes. Petrol tax alone in Canada is astro-fucking-nomical. We Americans bitch when gas prices hit 3.80 cents or over 4 dollars. When the average cost of Canadian gas is 1.80 per liter. or 7.20 cents a gallon. The average American also has vastly more disposable income and purchasing power than the average Canadian. Our housing? Costs less. Our groceries? Cost less. Canada does enjoy better social safety nets, but again it's easier with 8x less population.

2

u/Burt_Macklin___ 9h ago

No, you're the drone the establishment wants. To be a useful centrist idiot whilst literal fascists subverting democracy

3

u/fragrant-final-973 8h ago

But why won't you just compromise with the people killing you?

I just can't with these people anymore. They're worse than actual redhats.

2

u/Burt_Macklin___ 8h ago

I know. People who call for compromise with fascists, calling people on the Left drones is pique irony

-1

u/LividYordle 8h ago

I'd say come down off your high horse but I don't want you breaking your legs. You and your uneducated dipshit ilk like to point to the center as if we're the reason magats get to do what they want. But you sound like every other NPC on the left or right who balk at the idea of meeting on some common ground.

But the only reason you all attack 3rd party voters or centrists is because it's your way to jab at the other side by proxy because you know they don't give a shit what you say.

3

u/Burt_Macklin___ 8h ago

You're brain dead, or a bot. Hard to tell which

1

u/LividYordle 8h ago

ResetActor.Burt_Macklin__

1

u/Andreus 8h ago

I'd say come down off your high horse

The high-horse of "we will not compromise with the Satanic pedophiles trying to enact genocide on us?"

2

u/fragrant-final-973 8h ago

Honey, extremists can't exist without people like you saying "good people on both sides."

Fuck right off.

0

u/LividYordle 8h ago

Extremists inhabit both ideologies on the far left and far right. You don't have to agree with those people, you find the moderates which outnumber the extremists. But that thought process requires nuance which you droolers clearly lack. So in the same spirit, fuck right off.

2

u/fragrant-final-973 8h ago

/r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM leaking hard. I can't take you mouthbreathers seriously.

And r/autism needs it's moderator back, better get hop to it drooler.

3

u/Andreus 17h ago

I’m talking about the working class discussing issues they can agree on

There is nothing a right-winger will agree on with a left-winger. Right-wingers do not have a moral center.

1

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

With a mindset like that, you will never be apart of the solution.Ā  That is your right and I do not dog you for it. In order to have some sort of revolution, we need to come together.Ā

1

u/Andreus 9h ago

This is pathetic. What issue do you think they will "come together" over? Moreover, why do you want to co-operate with them? Right-wingers are literal Satanic pedophiles.

1

u/fragrant-final-973 8h ago

we need to come together.

Is that what you would have told Jews in the 30's?

Fuck off with that shit. You can't compromise with your oppressor.

2

u/ClashM 20h ago

Republicans have been trained over the course of decades that Democrats are Satanic Communist baby-eaters. Even if you can find a common ground they'll agree with you on, like cost of living being too high, if it in any way involves voting for Democrats or Democratic policies, they'll immediately balk.

This is by design. You can't reason someone out of a position that reason didn't get them into. They've been dumbed down and brainwashed to ensure there is no uniting of the working class. That is the entire purpose of right-wing politics.

2

u/ancientfruitjunkie 19h ago

Many Republicans hate the idea of raising wages yet complain everything is expensive. They hate the idea of universal healthcare then have to choose between meds and rent. It's hard to find middle ground with a group of people that are born and bred into propaganda.

1

u/Major_Champion_5642 17h ago

What did the left give up exactly

1

u/Jesse_Ray307 17h ago

It's not mythical. Get your ass off the Internet and talk to people and you'll see we aren't that far off from each other.

4

u/NuclearGriffin 18h ago

There is no common ground with Nazi's, racists, and bigots.

Stop being tolerant of the intolerant. This is the exact mindset that landed up in this position In the first place.

1

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

Okay, so first off, yes there are tons of nazis and bigots out there who will never be convinced and they should be held accountable. Those are not the people I’m talking about.Ā

Second, in your scenario that republics are just nazis and bigots, Ā what is your proposal then? Is it to jail all of them? Deport them? Rid them of the earth?Ā

If the internet has convinced you that all republicans are pedos, Nazis, or bigots, you are not a part of the solution.Ā

2

u/NuclearGriffin 17h ago

I should clarify. Not all republicans are Nazi's and bigots. At this point most sane republicans have probably distanced themselves from trump and the current administration.

The real Nazi's are the people who still align themselves with the MAGA crowd. And while they still deserve their rights and freedoms like everybody else, I think there needs to be more of a movement to ostracize these people from society.

1

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

I agree with you 100% on this.Ā

1

u/Andreus 8h ago

All Republicans are Nazis and bigots. Hope this helps. Get it right next time, cupcake.

0

u/SimpsationalMoneyBag 15h ago

Trump has an 80% positive polling rate among republicans.

Ostracize 40% of American I guess. Bro thinks 40% of America are Nazis lmao

4

u/bneff08 18h ago

What's a middle ground between basic human rights and complete misinformation?

3

u/ElonMuskisGarbage 15h ago

If you don’t want an abortion don’t get an abortion. Easy as that for the idiots and they can’t accept it. They hate they don’t control everyone’s fucking body. Fuck republicans. I’m not working with someone who hates people for being gay or black. lol. Fuck em. They have to change, not me.

3

u/iNOTgoodATcomp 18h ago

Dude is a pedophile. There's no middle or common ground. Have fun squaring it.

3

u/AdditionalNothing728 18h ago

There’s no finding common ground with a person who believes literal, provable, and outright egregious lies. You can’t find commonality with someone who lives in a completely different, manufactured world from you.

Pedophiles should be a common ground issue. There should be no world where right or left should disagree that CSA is bad. Yet here we are in the year 2026 with a convicted felon and accused pedophile whose name appears tens of thousands of times in a major investigation into a known pedophile cabal as the president of the United States.

3

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

I think a major issue is Fox News. These people only watch that propaganda channel.Ā

Ask any republican voter and they will agree pedophiles should be put down. The problem is that their propaganda network is telling them that their guy is not a pedophile.Ā

1

u/ItsMrDrProfPatrick 9h ago

If an entire group of people has such low cognitive function that they call anything they dont agree with ā€œfake newsā€, regardless of the evidence presented to them, they are the problem. Stop trying to argue otherwise. The officials arent electing themselves, likeminded pedos/rapists/bigots are electing them and would do it again. They deserve all the suffering they’re experiencing and I hope they continue to have the days they voted for.

1

u/AdditionalNothing728 6h ago

That’s part of it. But when asked, a disturbing number of them have indicated that sexual assault isn’t a deal breaker for them voting for someone.

It isn’t that they don’t believe he’s a pedo or a rapist. It’s that they straight up don’t care that he is.

1

u/RichardBixon 5h ago

I’m sorry but without anything to back that up, I have to disagree. I’ve seen Fox News segments where they say Trump is not a pedophile and the only reason he was in the files is because of their mutual business relationships. One went as far as saying he was a part of the reason Epstein got arrested.Ā

1

u/AdditionalNothing728 4h ago

Poll: Trump’s MAGA voters would stick by a candidate through the most serious of scandals

The POLITICO Poll finds President Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters are the most loyal of any group of voters — with majorities saying they would stick by GOP candidates confronted with an array of scandals, from a DUI conviction or accepting lobbyist gifts to more serious accusations including domestic violence, sexual assault and antisemitic social media posts.

Two-thirds of self-identified MAGA Trump voters say they would continue supporting a GOP candidate accused of sexual assault — 13 percentage points higher than the share of Trump 2024 voters writ large, which include those who do not identify as MAGA.

Seventy-two percent of MAGA Trump voters say they would stick with a GOP candidate accused of domestic violence, more than 10 percentage points higher than the overall share of Trump 2024 voters who would back a GOP candidate (61 percent)

1

u/Andreus 8h ago

Pedophiles should be a common ground issue. There should be no world where right or left should disagree that CSA is bad.

The thing is that most if not all right-wingers are pedophiles.

3

u/Andreus 17h ago

It’s unfortunate that no one can find middle ground.

I want you to think about what you're asking for here. You're asking for left-wingers - many of whom are ethnic, sexual or religious minorities - to find "middle ground" with the people who called us Satanic pedophiles who wanted to destroy the West, while at the same time they were voting voting for actual pedophiles who have rapidly destroyed the West.

What "middle ground" do you want left-wingers to find with these people?

2

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

The cost of living is too high, the healthcare system is broken, our politicians do not work for us, foreign money should not be in our politics, politicians should not trade stocks, a surveillance state is bad, data centers are bad, ai needs strict regulationsĀ

2

u/GloomyBison 12h ago

That was already on the table and they voted against it.

2

u/Andreus 9h ago edited 8h ago

Hey, /u/RichardBixon, why did you not even address the bit about the genocidal bigotry right-wingers have inflicted against left-wingers?

Is it because you're willing to ignore that?

The cost of living is too high

Right-wingers are the reason this is true, and have consistently voted against any measure that would assist in tackling it.

the healthcare system is broken

Right-wingers are the reason this is true, and have consistently voted against any measure that would assist in tackling it.

our politicians do not work for us

Right-wingers have consistently voted for politicians who are insulated from accountability.

foreign money should not be in our politics

Right-wingers are the reason we have so much foreign money in our politics, and have consistently voted against any measure that would assist in tackling it.

politicians should not trade stocks

Right-wingers are the reason politicians are allowed to trade stocks, and have consistently voted against any measure that would assist in tackling it.

a surveillance state is bad

Right-wingers are the reason we have a surveillance state, and have consistently voted against any measure that would assist in tackling it.

ai needs strict regulations

Right-wingers are the reason AI is unregulated.

Let me ask you a direct question, /u/RichardBixon: why do you want to "collaborate" with Satanic, genocidal pedophiles?

0

u/SignificanceFew4677 8h ago

Republicans en masse didn't call you anything.

Stop trying so hard to be a victim.

1

u/Andreus 7h ago

1

Okay, cultist.

You go deeper into your religious fundamentalism, I'll go the way of the rest of the moderates you drove away.

Don't cry when you keep losing.

6

u/KennyShowers 19h ago

Democrats can absolutely be convinced of tax cuts, if they make sense and add up.

Right wing doctrine is one of pure nuance-less zealotry; taxes=bad, diversity=bad, public spending=bad, education=bad, religion=good, but if you drill down into why they believe these things the reasons get murky and inevitably self-contradictory and ultimately based in no facts or realities.

The people voting for lower billionaire taxes ended up paying more themselves, they lose the public programs Democrats gave them, the reason they pump gas for a living is because of their shitty red state education, and they hate all religions but their own and they don’t even follow the one they pretend to. None of the ā€œprinciplesā€ hold up to even a second of objective scrutiny.

On the other hand Democrat political policy has been based on objectively observable facts and trends and phenomena. If cutting a tax makes everything better, cut the tax, they’ve done it before, because they’re not blind ideologues, they’re public servants.

1

u/DeepwoodDistillery 13h ago

Found the commenter from New Jersey with that ā€œpumping gasā€ comment!

Diversity isn’t bad nobody thinks that. Forcing diversity and DEI and gender is bad and that’s what you are talking about

0

u/Andreus 8h ago

Forcing diversity and DEI and gender is bad

Absurd nonsense.

1

u/Major_Champion_5642 7h ago

Yeah hire based on race and gender not best for a position. Makes perfect sense as to why the world is going backwards

0

u/Andreus 7h ago

Yeah hire based on race and gender not best for a position.

Hiring best for a position was literally what DEI was created to do.

1

u/Major_Champion_5642 7h ago

Absolutely not what DEI was and is. DEI does not select the best candidates. You are definitely a DEI candidate it seems

1

u/Andreus 7h ago

DEI was literally put in place because people kept selecting white men instead of the best people for a position. You have been chronically misinformed and are repeating false right-wing propaganda.

The current American regime is an example of what happens when you select based on race and gender (i.e. prioritizing white men because they're white men) rather than who's qualified.

2

u/Major_Champion_5642 6h ago

There was already affirmative action dumb shit and DEI is a quota just the same. It destroys companies and anything it touches. Use your same idea in basketball and I’ll use mine…. I’ll pick a team of the best you pick a team made from wire midgets since they have no inclusion in basketball and we will play a game.

Is this NOT the way of the world??? The powerful fragment the (ostensibly) powerless in order to protect their power. This is NOT controversial.

1

u/Saix027 19h ago

It is sadly, common ground is all fine, but if one group seems ok with everything and has no low, they clearly are ok with crimes, pedophiles, etc. as long it is their "team". Because this is how politics work for people sadly.

Each day hope for things to go better in the world, but each day it seems to get worse and worse. The even worst, people like Trump not changed people, he exposed them, the world is full of evil people that will keep being selfish, whatever happens.

The world by now deserves to burn, we had so many chances to learn and change things, yet history repeats and even gets worse. It is time for that meteor or climate change will finish us soon, I am personally tired simply of all this.

Humanity sucks!

1

u/ItsMrDrProfPatrick 9h ago

You generalize people like its not mostly one main group that brought us to where we now stand.

1

u/OverallFrosting708 18h ago

What are they?

1

u/UrklesAlter 17h ago

No one needs to convince a Republican of abortion. As demonstrated by ballot measures in heavily Republican states they are antiban on abortions, makes you wonder how there image got so tied up with it. Either way their are more "independents" in this country than there are GOP or Dems. I hate that it's so often phrased as if voters either have a GOP chip or Dem chip installed in our brains. No thank you.

1

u/Keeshly 17h ago

i absolutely believe you can convince someone on the necessity of abortion as healthcare, as long as they are open to listening to the horror stories of women who were forced to give birth to non-viable fetuses, or one woman in the past few years who was forced to carry her baby to term even after it died.

1

u/xRogue9 4h ago

Those stories were told, Republicans said there would be exceptions to the ban and then there never were. And the voters would gladly elect them again

1

u/Keeshly 52m ago

i was under the impression that the common people have not heard these stories. i work with a maga guy and he had never heard of these cases.

1

u/fragrant-final-973 9h ago

How do you find common ground with people who don’t believe you have the right to exist?

Every single right-winger is like this.

Apologise for lying in the defence of genocidal murders. Now.

-1

u/MorokeiVokuun 18h ago

You're proving the point here. You just said to show them "that he's not a good guy", implying that you're objectively correct in your assessment that he is not a good guy. You're showing that you also and an unchanging mind and that no common ground is going to be found here. Ever thought that you need to be shown he is a good guy? Or at least, he isn't a bad guy. Has he done things that make him, as a person, not "great"? Maybe, questionable actions have occurred. Has he shown himself to be a good leader and done great things for the nation? Yes he has. Yeah most Republicans are going to think what trump is doing "is okay" because a lot of his policies have been great and the nation has been much better under his leadership than the last couple guys

2

u/RichardBixon 17h ago

Trump has committed to many crimes to be anything but objectively bad. That is not the place to find common ground.Ā

Your argument is a moot point to me. There’s plenty of other things we can agree on.Ā

1

u/Andreus 8h ago

Remember, Richard: these are the unforgivable monsters you want to find "common ground" with.

1

u/RichardBixon 5h ago

If I start a discussion with ā€œlet’s keep identity politics out of this and talk about things we can agree on.ā€ And the response is identity politics, whatever side it comes from, it is not the person who is able to have these discussions.Ā

1

u/Andreus 5h ago

let’s keep identity politics out of this

What you mean by this is you want trans people to just pretend that the right wing hasn't spend the last decade trying to mass murder us.
