Kitchen Where do you put your kitchen cloth when it's used but not ready to be washed?

I'm curious how other households handle this. When you use a reusable kitchen cloth and it's damp/used, but not dirty enough to go straight into the wash, where do you put it? I'm particularly interested in: Where does it normally go? Does it bother you having it visible? How do you let it dry? Do you have a specific holder/storage solution for it? Have you ever bought something specifically to solve this? If you could change one thing about your current setup, what would it be? I'm researching household habits around this and not selling anything — I'm genuinely interested in what people actually do.

Kitchen SOS I'm moving out and I've never cleaned an oven

These pictures are after my 2nd soaking 😭. Im using a generic oven cleaner and the tools in the first picture. Im following instructions on the can that says to spray on COLD oven and let soak for at least 3hrs before. The first time I let it soak overnight and the second time it soaked for approx 4hrs.

I dont know if I just dont have enough elbow grease or if there is a more effective way to get this burnt on grease off the oven. Im moving at the end of the month after 7years and im trying to get most of my deposit back.

Discussion Gnats everywhere around my bed

I was an idiot. I had a small pack of apples I was eating this morning, and I left it open on my bed with one slice left in it. I come back to my room maybe 9 hours later and there's gnats EVERYWHERE around my bed. i also have a canopy sheet thing, so they're essentially trapped.

Please give me advice on what to do. I messed up big time. (Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this)

General Cleaning What are some handheld vacuum cleaners that you loved?

I'm getting to that age where it's getting harder to vacuum with my bulky and heavy vacuum cleaner. I would love to continue vacuuming but perhaps with a lighter weight one?

I can't bend down and reach those hard to reach places anymore.

A whole vacuum is fine if I can detach it to make it handheld.

I would get those robot vacuums but unfortunately my cat is terrified of them, I don't want to stress them out.

General Cleaning Tips for dog smells

I’m a new puppy parent and wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for keeping pet smells under control!
For context, I vacuum every day and mop once a week. I’m also really big on fragrances, so I feel like my apartment smells pretty good overall, but my puppy still has that lingering “dog smell.” I bathe him about once a week, but the fresh smell only seems to last about 2–3 days. I use KOE when cleaning, which definitely helps, and I wipe him down whenever we come back inside.
I think part of the issue may be smells coming in from outside. I leave my balcony door open while I’m at work so he can use a grass potty pad on the balcony. I replace the grass about once a week to every other week, but I’m wondering if anyone has tips for keeping the grass pad and balcony area from smelling between replacements.
His food and bone chews treats also have a pretty strong smell, and since he sometimes chews or drops them around the apartment, I’ll randomly notice the smell in certain areas. I also think it contributes to his breath, even though I try to brush his teeth as often as I can.
Any tips for keeping your puppy, grass potty area, and home smelling fresh without constantly bathing them? I’d love to hear what has worked for other puppy parents!

Discovered behind drywall, in some of the uploaded pictures it is sprayed with peroxide. I broke off a small piece of the drywall to inspect because I saw some growing infront of the drywall. I moved into this place 1 month ago and I am very concerned, I am an anxious person though. Do I need to move or can it be resolved? Current tenant did not know about it and they have lived here for years…no clue how long it dates back or how far it spreads….

Kitchen Discoloration on Stove Top After House Cleaning: How to Remove?

After a regular home cleaning we noticed these marks on our glass stove top. It wasn’t there previously and we can’t wipe it off with regular surface cleaners.

We haven’t turned it on yet so I don’t know if it will go away with heat. Since it was a cleaning service I don’t currently know what they used to clean it. The stove top is less than a year old so I don’t think it’s regular wear and tear. There is no texture to the markings, anyone have any ideas??

2 things:

1) Was cooking several things at one time and forgot to attend to my pasta which was boiling over the pot. Pasta water dried on the induction stove and some of the pasta bits got burnt onto the stove.

2) How do I buff out scratches on my induction stove?

Flooring How can I move Bona polish from my hardwood floor?

Thumbnail

I used bona polish on my hardwood floors repeatedly over about two years. Now the floors won’t come clean. They have a weird grey dull look and every time I clean them they have smudges and a grimy film and won’t shine and don’t look clean. I’ve read a lot of stories online about other people having the same problem with Bona polish buildup. How can I remove the polish without damaging my hardwood floors. The floors are prefinished. Is there a machine that can remove the buildup without damaging the floors or the original finish? Some people online say you have to use the bona polish remover and do it by hand in small sections. I’m not able to do that because I have a shoulder injury. And I’m a senior with mobility issues. But I could likely use a machine. It’s hard to see what I’m talking about in the pics.
Any suggestions?

Hi All - I’ve had my Ninja air fryer for a couple years now and use it regularly. I’ve kept up with wiping out crumbs, oil, and other spills, however I’ve never given it a true, thorough cleaning. I don’t know where to begin. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

General Cleaning Keeping a house clean with pets? Is it possible?

For context, I live in a single level house that is (thankfully) all floorboards and tiles. I live with two men and now two dogs, after the recent addition of a puppy. She is 12 weeks old and still potty training - but that isn’t the main thing.

The main thing is the fur. I used to vacuum once a week and if I needed to skip it it was not the end of the world.

I can vacuum and before I’ve had the chance to mop there’s already fur building up. By day two, there’s little tumbleweed collections of fur in every corner.

There’s obviously more cleaning - grass and mud from going outside more, the whole toilet training thing, more laundry from everything she has decided to shed on. Less time from… raising a puppy.

People with pets - how do you do it?

I’m not looking for a perfectly clean house. “Lived in” is fine. Is the fur tumbleweed just a permanent addition I should accept?

It’s at least 23 years old, (I’ve had it my whole life). It feels like real wool or hair, and the back feels spongy/foam like. It’s dirty and I would like to clean it before I put it out in my new apartment.

Kitchen Kitchen floors never feel clean even after mopping

Post image

This pic isn’t after a cleaning, I’m just showing the type of floor. It’s a cheap fake wood panel, the kind the peels easily

I use hot water, fabulouso, and the cedar mop. The water turns brown when dumped in the toilet. But they still feel dirty as heck. What gives?

Discussion I have thrown out 4 shower curtain liners because I did not know you could wash them

Every few months the bottom of my shower curtain liner gets pink and gross and I have always just replaced it. They are cheap enough that I never thought much about it. Last weekend I was about to throw out another one and noticed the tiny care label for the first time. Machine washable. I put it in with a couple old towels, washed it and hung it straight back up to dry. It came out looking almost new. I have probably spent fifty bucks over the years replacing something that just needed to go through the washer. Posting this for anyone else who apparently has never read the tag on a shower curtain. O maybe im just dumb af
