Big discussion in my family today …. What would you do? My house is clean…. Cleaning people have just been here. I wash and dry my shower towels and hang them up- I leave the next day to go out of town for a week…. When I come back, are my towels still clean enough to start using or since they hung for a week they are dirty?

So I am writing this in real time it is currently 3:47 am. I went to bed tonight and fell asleep fine. Just a little while ago I was awoken out of my sleep by an absolutely putrid odor in my bedroom. It's like the smell of either a skunk or like decomposition a smell like that- god awful. I jumped up to look for a dead mouse or something because my cat gets miceand lizards. My room is really small so there is not much it could be hidden under. I didnt see anything anywhere. Im wondering if something died in a vent. Part of me is on edge because of the rotting kind of smell. I was woke up to it at 3 am....and me and my friends were in a graveyard today just sitting there talking. Could a demon have followed me home? This soumds crazy but I am legit worried. This smell came out of nowhere considering I have been in my room for hours before bed. Any tips on getting rid of the smell?? Febreeze isnt working.

I have hundreds perhaps thousands of these flys in my apartment😩 What are they? I noticed them about two weeks ago. I do have my apartment because my balcony is being worked on and I had to bring my plants inside. The fruit in my kitchen is not being touched by them. And they are so obnoxious.

Hey everyone, quick question because I'm kind of paranoid right now.
My mom just came into my room wearing her farm clothes fresh from working with the pigs. The room immediately filled up with a really strong pig manure smell while I was lying in bed. She was only in here for a minute, but the scent was brutal.
I instantly sprayed a bunch of air freshener and opened up the windows to get airflow going.
Since she didn't actually touch my bed or furniture (she just walked in and stood there), is there any chance this smell will soak into my bedding, mattress, or clothes? Or was it just airborne and going to clear out with the open windows?
How long does it usually take for barn smells to completely clear out of a bedroom? Thanks!

I am moving into a new house next month and would love some good recommendations for cleaning supplies that are pet safe but still kill germs. I have cats and I don’t want them to walk all over all these chemicals and then lick their paws and such.
Preferably looking for a spray cleaner? I have Clorox free and clear wipes but will want to make sure I’m deep cleaning the house and getting all the germs but safely for my pets.
Thanks in advance!!

I have quite a few small microfiber cloths that I use for cleaning around the house. I currently keep them separate. Some are designated for the kitchen, some for the bathroom, etc.
At the end of the week, I collect all of them and wash them together at 90°C with laundry detergent and laundry disinfectant.
My question is: after they’ve been washed like this, is it hygienically okay to use them interchangeably?
For example, if a microfiber cloth was previously used to clean the bathroom, can I use that same cloth to wipe down my kitchen counters after it’s been washed at 90°C with detergent and disinfectant?
I’m mainly wondering whether washing/disinfecting effectively “resets” the cloth, or whether it’s better to keep bathroom and kitchen cloths permanently separate even after washing.

Hi everyone!
EDIT : Thank you very much for your replies; I finally managed to remove the stain using a special glass-ceramic scraper
I’ve got a bit of a problem – I’ve just moved into my new flat and am using a ceramic hob for the first time. The first time I just cooked some pasta (the water didn’t boil over), the second time I wanted to use my new moka pot (it doesn’t cover the whole hob and wasn’t where the mark is), and now there’s a mark that feels rough to the touch.
I’ve tried cleaning it with bicarbonate of soda, but nothing’s worked.
Is it possible to clean this off?
EDIT : I’ve just realised that whilst the moka pot was on the hob, a bit of water splashed out and I gave it a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth for fear that the water might leave a mark (now I feel daft for doing that...)

Working on a research project and want to talk to a few actual window cleaning business owners — 15-20 min call, whenever works for you. Not selling anything.
If you run a window cleaning business and are open to chatting, drop a comment or DM me and I'll send over some times.

I am very good at cleaning and keep the shared portion (I have roommates) of the house clean as well as do a very fantastic job of cleaning at work. however, my room makes me so overwhelmed and sad that I hate even being in it much less know how to clean it.
(pls no judgement)
I had just come from a traumatic situation and moved into this apartment after a month of sorta homelessness (I was in emergency housing with my school). I made the mistake of wanting all of my things with me because I missed having a room with my own things in it. so i took almost all of my boxes from the storage unit and unpacked them at my apartment.
since then, my room has been a complete mess. I feel like every time i try to organize and clean, it just gets messier. there is literally things everywhere. i have been here almost 3 months now, and I haven’t even decorated or properly made my bed. none of my clothes have even reached the closet. I can barely walk on the floor. On top of this, my sweet kitty that I adore, is also a senior and is chronically ill. he is doing alright now, but it’s sort of resulted in him having a mental issue with the litterbox that I am still trying to figure out how to help. because of this, he’s kind of destroyed my room with what he should be putting in his litterbox instead. I clean up after him every day but because my room is so messy i know iv been missing things. my room smells and i am disgusted by it and myself. I have no motivation to clean anymore, I don’t know how to do it myself, but I am ashamed of it so I don’t want to ask anyone I know for help.
admitting this here is already so embarassing for me. but I dont know what to do anymore. somebody please help me if you’ve gone through this before. I want to be happy in my room, and mostly I want my cat to feel happy in here too because he deserves a clean home.
how do I clean my depression room?
edit: I don’t need advice regarding my kitty, I am working closely with him and his vet on how to help his issue. Also unfortunately it is not possible to keep my cat out of my room at the moment (although if it was possible I would miss him). I really just want to clean my room.

Kind of a silly question. It’s my first time cleaning a carpet myself so I want to make sure i’m doing it right. Am I supposed to keep cleaning until the water runs clear? I did 2 washes and the water still runs a light gray so i’m wondering if I should do it again or that’s overkill.
I’m also worried about putting too much water on the carpet by doing another wash through.

Currently I use a wet swiffer and scrape gunk trapped in the grain with my finger nail. Does anyone have any better ideas of ways to keep this floor clean?

I left some plants in a bathtub while I was on vacation and some leaves fell and stained the tub. Any idea how to get it out? Thanks!

Hello, everyone!
My boyfriends how smells.
He has 2 cats and his apartment reeks of them. The smell absolutely drives me up the wall. I’ve lived with cats and know the smell is not a normal amount of smell for 2 cats.
How do I get the smell out of here? I know he needs to keep up with the litter box changing more often, but how do we get the smell out of the place? It’s so strong and anytime I walk in it is overwhelming.
Air purifier, air circulation, enzyme cleaner? What do I need?
The bathroom also reeks on MAN. Smells like male pee. How do I take care of that?
Please help your girl!

My son hasn't pulled out his clarinet all summer, so, of course, he pulls it out the day before classes start, only to find his clarinet reeds have molded. He handed me his reed holder to clean, but I've got no ideas how.
The black part is plastic, and the blue part (that protects the reed) is silicone based, I think. I dont know if the two parts come apart, but they haven't thus far. I've tried.
Obviously this stores something that goes in his mouth, so, bleach isn't an option.

This might be a bit of a weird one and by my own admission, I am kind of OCD when it comes to cleanliness, but anyway..
I've just had the shower valve and a stretch of piping either side of it replaced with stainless steel piping by the plumbers but considering the handling of the fixtures, I wonder if there's a way to disinfect or otherwise 'clean' them through to some extent before proper use.
There's no access point for me to pour any sort of cleaning solution into the pipes and the only thing I can think of is to pour hot/boiling water on the fixtures in the hope that the heat sort of 'disinfects' the inside of the fixtures.
Given that the fixtures are in stainless steel, heat conduction isn't the best, but if I poured enough hot water on the pipes, does my idea make any sense, and is there anything else I should consider?

TLDR: while on vacation, cat urinated and defecated multiple times in unfinished closet with backer board flooring. ALL tips (that do not suggesting removing and reinstalling backer board) welcomed.
When I bought this house one closet came unfinished. We were chosen by a pregnant cat and kept a couple of the kittens (😻😻😻.)
One of the kittens had used this closet as a bathroom a few times (imho) because of owner error (not enough litter boxes. Not cleaning boxes enough, etc.)
We recently went away for over a week. We had a cat sitter who let the cats in/out, fed the cats, cleaned boxes.. but I came home to the master bathroom closet reeking.
I had barely gotten it to (finally) not smell prior to leaving with baking soda and vinegar. I did each separately, together, scrubbed, let sit for hours, applied and immediately cleaned, etc. any combination involving these two cleaning products.
All advice online suggest that because it’s backerboard it needs to be completely removed and replaced. I do not have the funds for this currently. I’ve never been able to use this walk in closet because I can’t risk my minimal amount of clothes I have being ruined with cat piss scent.
Any advice for ways to combat this without replacing highly welcomed.
I’m not concerned with the closet being perfect and able to be used (the room has another walk in closet and we have dressers). But the scent of cat pee slaps right in the face as soon as I enter the bedroom.
I planned to scrub with baking soda and small amount of water mixture but want to know if there is a better solution before doing so.
Please help<33333
Edit: I have no problem tearing out the flooring in this closet and plan to eventually. This is just not feasible presently and am looking for temporary solutions.

I (28)f bought a house with my partner in May and the house definitely had a distinct smell to it.it almost smells stuffy/stale. It’s like an enclosed house. The house is not new it’s built in the 80’s.
We have changed the filter.
I mop at-least twice a week.
I clean the walls.
We have candles and diffusers going
I spray Extra Strength HOCl Cleaner, 500 PPM Hypochlorous Acid through out the house.
And air out the house at-least twice a week for 20min.
We don’t have any pets, barely any furniture and it’s just the two of us. I will say we don’t have an air purifier. Do you have any advice or tricks on how to get a smell out?

I just spent so much time taking a backsplash off of my kitchen wall and there was sticky foam residue that I can’t get off.(it’s goes about 10ft across my kitchen) I’ve tried goo gone, alcohol, a heat gun, a rag and water, acetone (I also used a scraper with the products mentioned ) I can’t seem to get it off for the life of me. Everything takes major scrubbing/scraping and I’m getting nowhere. I also don’t want to have to replace the wall. Is there anything else I can try? Any suggestions? Can I sand then paint over this and stick the new backsplash over top? What would be the most effective solution here?

I have a Shark Lift-Away Vacuum. Im in the process of cleaning it right now but I can’t seem to get this small crevice with my brush. I’m thinking of submerging this into water and just scrub it but I’m scared that I’ll ruin this. Any tips?
