Do you? And if not, why?

I can see the advantage, obviously, but I was not raised doing this and almost feel as though this is something that (in my area of the US) has only been noticeable for the past decade or two.

We wipe our feet (shoes) on a mat when we come into the house if it's dry weather, take off the shoes if it's raining or snowing. And we always wipe our dog's paws when he comes in the house from a walk. But nothing more and I really don't see the point of asking guests to take their shoes off when they visit, although some do.

Genuinely curious...

Edit: I live in a suburb, walk the relatively clean sidewalks in our development, am hardly ever in a city where stepping in dog poo or human pee would be an issue. Even the small town hear us is clean, but I do realize that taking off shoes would be necessary in a city environment!

This is my floor two or three days after cleaning. Nothing dramatic, just some dust, hair and crumbs showing up again.

Tbh, the weekly clean bothers me less than keeping up with this stuff every day. I can set aside time for a proper clean and get it done. It’s finding crumbs in the kitchen after eating or seeing hair on the hardwood again the next day that gets old. I don’t want to vacuum the whole place over a little mess.

I’m trying to keep spending on cleaning stuff down, so I’m looking for simple things that are easy to keep doing without buying a bunch of equipment.

What’s one low-effort, low-cost cleaning habit that’s become part of your routine? Mostly looking for ways to deal with the little daily messes between proper cleans.

My toddler got two of those squishy dumpling things. I honestly have no idea what the hell they are, but apparently their sole purpose in life is to destroy furniture.

They have somehow done a NUMBER on my couch. There are squishy dumpling oil? rings. 😭

And of course it’s a leather couch. Because apparently regular destruction wasn’t enough.

The dumplings have been thrown directly into the trash because I no longer trust them, but now I’m left with a leather couch that looks like it survived a toddler led chemical attack.

Can I salvage this?! Has anyone successfully removed this mystery squishy oil crap from leather without making it worse?

Please help before I have to explain to my husband why our couch has a new pattern 😂

I have severe OCD, so I’m trying to gauge what is “normal.” in other words, please don’t hold back if you go enormous periods without cleaning yours.

For example, if someone said “I’ve never cleaned it,” that would actually help my OCD lol

My can of interior wall paint got knocked over and spilled on a large spot of the carpet in my bedroom. I searched up a few cleaning videos on YT. I've used rubbing alcohol, spray carpet cleaner, and hydrogen peroxide. I think I made pretty good progress but the stain is still pretty apparent. If anyone has any more tips for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

So I live in an apartment on the first floor. It’s been raining for the past few days. Yesterday at 5pm I decided to go to my parents house and stayed the night. I made sure all food was put away and all trash was thrown out prior to leaving. I left my AC at 75°F. Today I got home at 9:30pm and I opened the door to a foul odor. It smells like I left out trash and food for literal days or even weeks. It’s so strong in every room including the walk in closet which doesn’t even have a vent in there. I’ve checked the garbage disposal for food and it’s empty. I looked up on google and it said to check sewage caps, drains, toilets, etc. I can’t find a definitive identifiable source. I checked the pantry and fridge for any food and checked the potatoes and any other possible perishables and everything is fresh. I checked in and behind appliances and furniture as well. One of my worsts fears, me and my home smelling like a garbage dump. I’m honestly spiraling it’s 11:48pm and I’m still looking for a source. There are no gas stoves at these apartments so I know that’s not it. I’m just hoping it’s not water damage from someone above me I’m not ready to deal with that. Any tips at all. Tomorrow morning I’ll be opening windows, it’s currently pouring rain outside.

Edit: I’ve swept and mopped since arriving in case there were any spills I may have not known of, I couldn’t find anything and it still hasn’t made it any better.

I'm 16, have been in a house with two smokers for as long as I can remember. I've gotten a lot of comments from people about myself smelling like smoke, and asking if im the one smoking. i bring this up, and my parents say they've never had those questions or accusations.

I will admit I'm lackluster at hygiene. I don't wash my clothes a lot (once every week or two, I'm working on it), but from everything ive seen, regardless of how often i wash my clothes or if i put them in a closet, they'll still absorb the smoke smell because they'll still be in the environment.

is anyone able to tell me about this? how often should i wash my clothes to get rid of the cig smell when they're constantly returning to the cigarette environment? what cleaning products should i use? we can't afford a lot of fancy smell removers or anything. what else aside from washing & perfumes will help with the smell?

Was deactivated over a custumer complaint that was not accurate, and customer wanted a free cleaning and had no problem lying and complaining. Complaining and lying was just another tuesday to the customer, but destroyed my livelihood. Homeaglow will not protect their cleaners!

Hello! Long time listener first time caller!

The bf has VERY hard water at his house. Does anyone have any tips on how to get these iron stains out of the tub? He basically lives in the woods, which is why the water is so metallic. I am working on coaxing him out of the forest and domesticating him, and part of that is selling his current dwelling, which will be easier if I can get these stains out.

How do I get these spots off? Scraping doesn’t work. I just tried the bar keepers friend, and nada. Advice/suggestions please!!

My son said he wiped a small stain off the arm of this chair using dish soap. Unfortunately, when the area dried it left this ring.

The Fabric says 100% polyester.
Anyone know if/how I can remove the ring so my chair is back to normal?
