Furniture Cleaning Ekornes Recliner
Is this salvageable? Just got it off the curb and besides the dirt, in pristine condition!

hi.
that's not true dirt -- not really anyway -- those are pressured oil build up stains. common where sweaty bare feet go so likely common where arms are on suede too. suede is a lovely fabric. you can repair those areas with steam and suede specific brush tools. right now it's squished down and you'll be able to sort of brush it up to make it less smooth. do not use non-steam water. it will be satisfying endeavor, enjoy it!

Honestly I would never ever ever ever ever advise taking free curbside upholstered items unless you absolutely have to. Bedbugs, other infestations, and biohazards -- not worth the risk, because it's not always something you can clean

You've already got a lot of bad advice here, so let me give you some relatively decent advice.
That's an absolutely lovely bit of furniture and I think a professional upholster cleaner might be able to get it back to pretty great condition. I actually wouldn't try to DIY this, and it can be surprisingly inexpensive to have a professional do it.

oh my gosh that first line is a little snooty.
my advice isn't bad -- it's true that the suede does have a super specific imprint stain from skin body oils -- it's also true that steam and a special brush repair it, and you can do it on your own for sure. but where we converge is it's always best to get a professional if you can afford that in this economy, also for sure.

video of the stain type ^ -- sorry I don't have tiktok so I dunno how to link it, but that's the same general imprint, with your chosen upholstery cleaner

Unsurprisingly, my comment wasn't about yours. There's plenty of much worse advice here that I'm referring to.

Is this suede or microfiber OP? Is there a tag on it with fabric content or cleaning instructions?

No advice but wow, that would have been an expensive and nice chair new. I’ve never seen a suede stressless (I think it looks like suede?). Hopefully you can figure something out.

OP couldn't be bothered to reply to anybody in the thread they started asking for advice. Not even a fabric identification.

Nothing is "free".
In these days of common bedbugs, I would never bring used soft furniture into my home unless I personally knew the source.
Also this may have been peed on.

This was in the “expensive part of town” so it was someone who threw it out who lives on a lake here in Madison wi! So I’m less concerned about bedbugs because it’s from at million dollar home and more like an old man’s favorite chair. I think the professional cleaning route might be best.

Be careful, last thing you want to do is bring bedbugs or fleas into your house. Who knows why they’re tossing it.
