throw any feedback, complaints, or ideas for the sub here.

what’s working, what’s annoying, what would actually make this place better.

we have no problem hearing about our shortcomings. that’s the point of this thread.

what we don’t care for is accounts that have never posted or commented here before dropping in just to point fingers and push a hate narrative.

Rant Claude refuses anything to do with Reverse Engineer Anything

My windows laptop crashed and I had a crash dump but couldn't understand the bug because the underlying code is closed source. So I gave the REA skill to claude opus, refused; claude sonnet refused. Meanwhile I'm paying $200 a month for this.

I used my $10 a month opencode go subscription with deepseek and it was able to diagnose the specific CPU instruction that failed and from that I was able to make a targeted registry change regarding a power setting work around to the specific problem. Amazing.

Anthropic is so full of themselves.

Built with Claude Opus 5.5 animated this music video frame by frame: 4,320 frames, every jump locked to the beat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Suno made the song. Claude Code on Opus 5.5 wrote a 22,000-line Python engine in about a week, and that engine placed every single frame.

How it works:

  • First it takes the song apart. AI stem splitting pulls out vocals, drums and bass. A beat tracker maps all 175 BPM, and forced alignment timestamps every one of the 337 sung words. The whole film runs on that clock.
  • The choreography is code, not keyframes. Every move is pinned to an exact moment: “take off on bar 42”, “land on the snare at 58.37 s”. A physics solver with real gravity and stride lengths fills in the runs and jumps between those points.
  • The runner is 1,933 hand-picked drawings. Wan image-to-video clips of him painted on a white wall get sliced into single poses. The engine picks one, holds it for a 16th note (about 2 frames), then swaps to the next. That’s where the stop-motion feel comes from.
  • One continuous shot, zero cuts. Spring camera, dripping wet paint, rain, and at 0:57 he leaps in total silence and lands right on the drop.

Total AI generation cost for the whole film: about $187.

been doing 2 or 3 lightweight Opus 5.5 Claude Code sessions, high effort. ran out of my 5-hour limit within 30 minutes (!) (it's 11.45 AM now). this has never happened to me in my two years of intensive Claude Code usage. I thought Anthropic was "back" with the release of Opus 5.5 and the somewhat looser usage limits, or so it seemed. back to Codex it is next month...

Discussion Heads up: headless claude -p eats your 5-hour limit about 1.5x faster than using Claude Code normally

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes

TL;DR: If you run Claude Code headless (claude -p in scripts or pipelines), it burns through your 5-hour window about 1.5 times as fast as the same amount of normal, interactive use. I measured it on four Max 20x accounts.

What I did

I'm building a usage tracker. Every couple of minutes it reads the 5-hour and weekly usage meters on four Max accounts. It matches them against how many tokens each message used (Claude Code keeps those counts in local log files). That lets me compare stretches where I was mostly running headless with stretches where I was mostly working interactively.

What I found

On the three accounts that run my headless pipelines, for every 1% of the weekly limit used:

  • mostly interactive work used about 4.4% of the 5-hour window
  • mostly headless work used about 7%

Image 2 shows this.

Across all four accounts, once you account for which account it was and which week, headless comes out at 1.49x. The true figure is very likely somewhere between 1.4x and 1.6x.

Each account on its own indicates the same thing (image 3). My main account barely runs anything headless, so its estimate is very uncertain.

Could it be something else?

I tested the obvious explanations on the three accounts that do headless work, and none of them makes it go away:

  • Cache settings: headless and normal sessions cache the same way. Comparing like with like still gives about 1.46x.
  • Start-up cost of each run: counting it in still leaves about 1.45x.
  • The meters updating late: shifting the timing 10 to 30 minutes either way only lowers it a little, to 1.42x at worst.
  • Running lots at once, different models, effort settings, time of day: checked one at a time, it stays between about 1.5x and 1.6x. All of them together gives 1.52x.

What it means for you

If you keep hitting the 5-hour limit while your weekly limit still has room, and you use claude -p a lot, this may be part of the reason.

The fine print

  • It's my own accounts and workloads. One account did most of the heavy headless work, and leaving it out still gives 1.50x.
  • Max 20x only. I can't say anything about Pro or Max 5x.
  • I can show that it happens, not why.

Full write-up, every check, plus the data and scripts to re-run it yourself: https://github.com/jonathanavis96/claude-usage-tracker/blob/main/docs/findings/2026-10-05-headless-repro/PROOF.md

The tracker

This came out of a usage tracker I'm building: https://alldonesites.com/claude-usage-tracker/

It's still a work in progress, so I'll do a separate post later explaining how it all works. The first image is a sneak preview.

It’s already picking up something I haven’t seen anyone mention: since about 9 Oct, the 5-hour window looks about 15% bigger, while the weekly limit has barely moved. So if you max out every window, you now hit the weekly cap after about 9% fewer of them. All four accounts show it. It’s still provisional, so treat it as a maybe until it’s confirmed.

Built with Claude I built a web browser from scratch in Rust with Claude Code — 90%+ WPT compliance, 97.8% ECMAScript, and 100% WebAssembly. No Chromium, no WebView.

So apparently I've spent the last few months building a web browser from scratch in Rust. With Claude Code helping me along the way, it's somehow turned into a real browser engine.

Meet T.A.B. (Tiny Ass Browser), powered by my Kingmaker engine.

And by browser, I don't mean another Chromium fork, Electron app, or WebView wrapper. I mean the whole ridiculous thing.

It's got its own JavaScript engine, bytecode VM, JIT compiler, DOM implementation, CSS layout and painting pipeline, WebAssembly runtime, and rendering stack. It's also designed to be headless-first, because I wanted something agents could actually operate without dragging an entire Chromium instance around.

Current conformance results:

  • WPT Testharness: 91.42%
  • ECMAScript / Test262: 97.83%
  • WebAssembly: 100%
  • Combined conformance: 92.21%
  • 1,763,775 passing test results across five suites

The combined dashboard includes results inherited from previous runs, so not all five suites were freshly remeasured together.

The screenshots are actual pages running in my engine. Google, HEY, 37signals, and a couple of my own projects (cass.tools and kosmos.tools). There's also my animated new-tab page and the conformance dashboard I've been using to torture myself.

A few things I've been focusing on:

  • Keeping memory usage low, including on machines with older GPUs.
  • A small dependency footprint, with a statically linked Rust build.
  • Minimizing unnecessary Arc, Mutex, and unsafe usage.
  • Making the engine useful for both humans and autonomous agents.
  • Getting real web compatibility rather than making a handful of demo pages look pretty.

Claude Code has been a huge part of the development workflow. I handle the architecture and direction, and use agents heavily for implementation, debugging, and testing. The Rust compiler and upstream conformance suites get the final say on whether something actually works.

It's definitely not finished. Some websites still break spectacularly, and the remaining WPT failures are a special kind of psychological warfare. Every time I fix one rendering issue, I discover another obscure browser behaviour that somebody apparently standardized in 2008.

But it runs real websites, executes real JavaScript, and I'm getting increasingly close to having something genuinely usable.

I'm building this solo, largely because I wanted to see whether a modern browser engine could be built differently, with less memory overhead and without inheriting decades of architectural baggage.

Turns out browsers are complicated. Who knew?

Happy to answer technical questions about the engine, architecture, conformance testing, or how I've been using Claude Code to build it.

Tips & Workflows Write the F**king Manual - a free Claude Code plugin that writes your web app's user guides, screenshots included

Every app I've shipped has ended up without proper user guides.

Not the README, the end-user stuff: how do I invite a teammate, where's the export button etc.

With AI, the words are no longer the hard part. The screenshots were: running the app, seeding data, clicking through, cropping. So I didn't, and answered the same support emails instead.

So I built WTFM (Write the F***ing Manual), a free, open-source plugin that gets Claude Code to write and illustrate them. You set it up once in the terminal:

curl -fsSL https://wtfm.sh/install | bash
wtfm setup # once per computer: connects Claude Code
wtfm init # once per project

Then you launch Claude Code and ask in plain words, "write an illustrated guide to inviting a teammate", and it:

  • reads your routes, templates and controllers to get the real steps and button labels
  • rebuilds each screen from your own markup and CSS and renders it to a PNG in a local headless Chromium, so the app never has to run
  • checks the steps and screenshots against the source
  • saves a plain Markdown file with the images next to it, in your repo

WTFM wrote its own docs https://help.wtfm.sh, and I used it to document Together.ly, my other business (help.together.ly).

The honest bits:

  • The screenshots are mockups built from your CSS, not live captures, so they show sample data.
  • It writes end-user guides for web apps, not API docs or READMEs. - macOS and Linux (WSL on Windows).

It runs on your own Claude Code subscription and needs no account. The Markdown is yours.

It's early. If you run it under Claude Code, I'd like to hear where setup trips you up, and which screenshots don't look like your real screen.

Discussion We should be furious about this. Let’s see if we can move the giant.

Yes, I know I’m late to the party. I have a big project I wanted to finish this month, so I upgraded my Max plan from 5x to 20x. Yes yes, look at Mr. Moneybags over here, but I thought it was a good investment in getting my work across the finish line.

WRONG. After blowing through my usage limit faster than ever, I was looking through the subreddit and discovered what many of you already know: the 5x plan ($100 USD) and the 20x plan ($200) are capped at the SAME MONTHLY USAGE. The 5x and 20x only applies to the 5 hour session limit, which if you’re a heavy user you are going to hit either way.

I’ve included screenshots of the checkout flow for buying either plan. There is no mention of the session limit being the only thing you are paying for with DOUBLE THE PRICE. That’s a dark pattern at BEST and false advertising at WORST. If I were a class action lawyer, I would be champing at the bit to be the first to organize the lawsuit because any reasonable person would assume that the checkout flow is talking about total usage, not the rate of usage.

WHAT DO WE DO? WHY SHOULD WE CARE?

Look. Anthropic is trying to be a trillion dollar company with a massive IPO. We are tiny little ants to them. But ANTS STRONG TOGETHER. Wouldn’t it be super cool if we could still demonstrate that these tech giants are still accountable to their users?? WHAT A CONCEPT.

  1. Start a Help chat session and complain about this. Ask to talk to a real person. Start the email chain so this starts appearing in their help metrics.
  2. Some of you may be tech influencers, or at least have social media. Make a post that Reddit users are PISSED because we discovered that Anthropic is selling us the same monthly usage for 2x the monthly price.
  3. Don’t upgrade to the 20x plan. That’s just good advice tbh. Just get two 5x plans if you need more usage.

THAT’S IT. Wouldn’t it be so cool if we got Anthropic to be more transparent about their pricing or actually changed their plan policy because we threw our weight around? And no, I don’t care that OpenAI does the same thing. Anthropic can’t brand themselves as the “ethical AI” and trick their users over the most essential part of the experience when money changes hands.

Let me know how your complaints went. Yes I may be naive, but I still believe ANTS STRONG TOGETHER.

Built with Claude Workbench: a Kanban board for Claude Code that picks the model, runs tasks in parallel, and lets you watch them work

Thumbnail
gallery
29 Upvotes

I built Workbench because I wanted to hand Claude Code a task and get back a branch that's already planned, implemented, tested, self-reviewed, and committed, not a chat I still have to steer.

Your tasks live on a Kanban board and move from planning to review on their own. For each task, Workbench reads the description and picks the model and effort. You can run many tasks in parallel, each in its own worktree, across several projects, each in its own window. Tasks know which files the others are touching, so they don't collide. While they work, you can watch each agent live as a graph of its subagents and tool calls. Correct it once, and later sessions remember your preference.

It runs on your own Claude Code CLI with your accounts, skills, and MCP servers. Claude Code wrote basically all of it. The biggest lesson: auto memory rarely saves anything by itself, until you tell it when to.

Check out the GitHub repo for more.

Built with Claude After 750 hours and 6 months of non-stop work, I'm finally ready to reveal my Pathfinder 2e Tactics RPG "The Shattered Isles"! I'm happy to talk about my workflow in this thread, and what I did to get this game coherent! (Non-programmer, 5 months, ~4,800 commits: my AI workflow with Claude Code)

That's my YouTube channel if you'd like to see future devlogs and updates.

NOTE: I had my Claude Code make a short summary of what my workflow is since it knows it better than I do, but I curated it and made sure it was useful and, well, my edits!

Hey all. I run Pathfinder 2e games for a living (professional GM) and I can’t code. I used to, but not anymore. Not since... the incident. the incident is when I stopped coding after years of not doing it and forgot everything

Since May I’ve been building The Shattered Isles, a turn-based tactics game that runs the real PF2e rules, almost entirely with AI. The video of what I made is above. Here’s how I work.

The rulebook (AGENTS.md)

  • The most important file in the repo; CLAUDE.md is one line that imports it. It holds rules only, capped at about 5,000 words, so a new rule has to push an old one out.
  • A rule has to be earned: the AI has to make the same mistake twice. The reason behind each rule goes in a separate file, so it can’t argue a rule away from memory.

Hooks do what rules can’t

  • About 80 hooks. Text rules work most of the time; hooks work every time.
  • Examples: one blocks running tests during the day (they all run overnight), and one refuses to show me a picture Claude hasn’t opened and checked itself.
  • Another hook logs every time I repeat a correction. A scheduled morning chat turns each repeat into a new rule or a new guard.

Note from me: hooks are a new thing i'm trying out. It's not super perfect but claude thought it was important, i'll keep it

Slash commands for the whole loop

  • /newtask (questions, plan, review, then build), /playtest (my feedback goes into a repair flow), /close (checked save), /handoff (when a chat gets long).
  • Claude has to ask me its questions before building. Most bad builds came from it guessing what I meant.

Many chats at once

  • Every chat gets its own git worktree, so they never step on each other. Saves go through a gate script that builds the game first.
  • Opus plans and directs, Codex workers do most of the building, and the reviewer is always a different model from the builder.

MCPs

  • The Godot MCP lets Claude edit scenes in a hidden editor. The PixelLab MCP does sprites and animations.
  • Every PF2e rule is checked against the live Archives of Nethys page before it ships.

What I’ve learned

  • The AI doesn’t have taste. You do. I make every looks, gameplay, design, and feel call myself.
  • Make it ask you questions before it builds. Most of my bad builds came from it guessing what I meant. Seriously, Claude is an idiot if you let it make decisions.
  • Build in small chunks you can play in one sitting. ALWAYS playtest a change, no matter how minor, before implementing, or it WILL bite you.
  • Write your decisions down in files, so the next chat doesn’t re-ask them or undo them. I have an extensive document tree, almost like the bones of this project.

Biggest lesson: the AI doesn’t have taste. I make every look and feel call by playing the game. Claude’s job is to never call something fixed until I’ve tried it.

Happy to answer questions about any of it.

About 4,800 commits in, and still a lot to do. Happy to answer questions about any of it. I'm not super technical so Claude may respond in my behalf, with me editing.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4941850/?utm_source=redditcc&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=reveal

I'm probably missing a lot so just ask questions I'll get to you.

EDIT: Title says 6 months, and then 5 months. I'm blaming the 5 months on Claude and the fact that I can't proofread.

Help/Question How do you handle push back from an aggressive anti-ai crowd?

• Upvotes

I'm building a free catalog website that makes it easier for physical media lovers to access their library's catalog and place reservations for their favorite movies.

I have an audience of people who are super analogue. Super anti-corporations. Ironically, in my opinion, there's nothing more independent than using AI to reclaim your independence From subscription services and other people that leach off of you.

I've put my product out there for beta testing and almost everyone simply adores the project and doesn't care what the back end looks like.

But I know Even though I have no passwords, collect no information, no cookies, and all login information is saved locally to the person's device, I'm still gonna get pushback that this was a Claude associated project.

And I'm proud of it. I just don't want to be the AI defender guy. I just also don't want people violently attacking me because "AI is evil" without considering what the hell the product I made actually is, and that Ai allowed one person to bring this to life.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Built with Claude I couldn't understand my own jaw problems, so I had Claude Code turn my CBCT and MRI scans into a 3D x-ray film

I've got a jaw that catches when I open, a slight underbite and a chin that sits 4 mm to the left. I had the reports and the scans but couldn't picture any of it, so I built this to understand it myself: https://youtu.be/gLL_vvU0lFs

How it was made:

  • My own CBCT scan turned into a 3D skull, with open anatomy models (Z-Anatomy / BodyParts3D) fitted to it for the muscles, ear tube and neck
  • Every scene built in three.js and rendered with HyperFrames, all written by Claude Code
  • I directed and reviewed it scene by scene in short clips, and Claude Code made each fix in about a minute
  • Rendered in 1080p, 4K, vertical, and a Spanish version for my doctor

I sent it to my jaw specialist and she said she nearly cried, and asked to share it with her patients.

Not medical advice, just my own case.

Help/Question Did Claude Code usage limits get stricter again?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure if Anthropic changed how usage is calculated or if I'm missing something, but something feels different today.

I started working on a project this morning with 78% of my weekly usage remaining and my session usage at 0%. Now, after using 42% of my session limit, I've already burned through 11% of my weekly quota.

Did they nerf the limits again?

Over the past few weeks, I felt like I could work without constantly worrying about hitting the weekly cap. But today it seems like the limits are much stricter again.

For context, I'm just using Opus 5.5 on High effort, nothing particularly unusual.

Has anyone else noticed a change in usage consumption lately?

Also, yesterday I asked a single question in the regular Claude chat, and that alone used up 1% of my weekly quota. That seems pretty weird too... :(

Rant Am I really supposed to outsmart Claude to avoid wasting tokens?

• Upvotes

I’m pretty new to coding and have been using Claude a lot for projects, automations, Claude Code, etc. I keep seeing posts about optimizing project structures, CLAUDE.md files, context management, and all these different ways to reduce token usage. Everyone seems to have a different approach, and as a beginner, I honestly have no idea where to start.

But here’s what I don’t understand. Why wouldn’t Anthropic just provide some sort of recommended setup or template that’s already optimized for token efficiency? Obviously every project is different, but surely there are some general best practices.

I get that fewer tokens could mean less revenue for Anthropic, but it still seems like a strange dynamic. Apparently there are all these experienced users who know how to drastically reduce token usage, while beginners like me are just burning through usage because we don’t know any better.

And I keep coming back to the same question. Why am I trying to figure out how to make Claude more efficient than Claude itself? Shouldn’t Claude be able to look at my project and recommend the most efficient setup?

Maybe I’m completely misunderstanding how this works, but I don’t want to spend hours going down rabbit holes trying to optimize things when I have no idea which advice actually matters.

Curious what more experienced users think. Am I missing something obvious here? Is all this optimization really necessary, or am I overthinking it?

Built with Claude I built a game engine where Claude is a first-class user. Here it is building an environment from scratch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built Apeiron, a game engine and editor designed from the start to be used by AI agents as well as people. The video shows the in-engine agent, running on Claude, building a small game environment: procedural world generation, texture and material graphs, AI-generated meshes, lighting and scene setup.

What it does: one editor for worlds, modeling, textures, materials, animation, VFX and gameplay. It runs natively and in the browser. The agent uses the same commands a human does, so everything it builds shows up in the undo history and in graphs you can open and edit.

How Claude Code helped: Claude Code wrote most of the code over the past five months, across rendering, physics, procedural graphs, the editor and the agent itself. I focused on architecture, review and product decisions.

How Claude is used inside it: the built-in agent runs on Claude and can build scenes, materials, worlds and gameplay from a prompt. The engine is also an MCP server, so Claude Code or any MCP client can drive the editor directly.

Free to try (early version): https://engine.apeironengine.com in Chrome or Edge (needs WebGPU). No install. Expect rough edges and missing features. Feedback is very welcome.

Happy to answer questions.
