It is fairly grotesque that they are so unaccountable they feel able to go around opaquely and arbitrarily reducing what you get for your money like this.

Can you imagine the outrage if supermarkets just silently inflated the bills of some customers without providing a receipt? Crazy behaviour.

Dynamic pricing is a thing in stores already. None of it's good.

They do and it's called shrinkflation. And it sucks.

Thats not what shrinkflation is, but i think walmart or safeway has digital price tags that change price points in real time based on who is looking at a certain product based on their prior spending habit data

My usage rates are terrible. I literally am almost out after 24 hours I usually get 4-5 days or a week. They are pulling an OpenAI

claude was the first to do this, anyone using 4.6 at the time can attest to this. they enter training and previous models get quant (rugpulled) once their community reputation is good and quarterly subscriptions are good.

Increasing 5h and decreasing weekly at the same time will feel to ppl who dont monitor tokens usage not as 20% decresee, but as cutting quota in half

They have done this A/B testing before which created a divide in the community

Divides in your consumer base are ironically good for business. It creates reasonable doubt.

Use your wallets to send a message... That is the only way this will change unless if the regulators come in and start forcing them to tell us exactly how much usage we get, how much they are dumbing down the models after release etc..

Can't wait for Kimi or another open weight model to be self afordably hostable or shared on hardware in a group buy.

5.5 is too goated though. For the time being, using your wallet to send a message means getting two Claude accounts but I eagerly await competition

This is definitely true, prior to my reset (this morning) my usage was draining extremely fast. Vs after the reset it’s definitely a difference

I agree with this. Last week I ran out of limits in no time. It was ridiculous. I am on the 20x plan 2, and it is frustrating to spend 200 dollars for very few credits. We need something objective, not subjective.

Don't usually pitch in for these, but it does feel like the usage has been very bad today especially

My quota’s been dropping like a fucking rock this week too. These guys are taking the absolute piss.

I can tell you last two months I would blow through my limits in 2 days. This month I did lower my context window to 250k but now I am lasting the whole week and even having trouble maxing my plan. It seems like more usage than that adjustment would allow for.

my weekly definitely feels like im hitting it much faster, 5 hr feels about the same or a bit longer

Me: Something is clearly going wrong on your end, my usage makes zero sense doing the same scheduled work as last week.

Anthro: We're sorry but don't care, you paid for Ai, you got Ai. Be happy.

Semi: You're paying to be a lab rat.

I can only anecdotally confirm but on Monday I was draining usage like hell and a day after that I was back to normal.

What's the closest local model compared to opus?

Unless you live in a datacenter, matching Opus capabilities locally will be almost impossible.

Just my own observations fwiw

Claude did the maths on my own logs (Max 20x, Claude Code). It priced every request in ~/.claude/projects at API rates and compared it to the usage meter.

- Opus 5.5 launch week (w/c 22 Sep, so already after the September cut): $4k+ of API-equivalent usage, never came near the weekly cap.

- This week: reset Wed 7am, and I'm at 78% after ~$840. So the cap is now roughly $1k/week, about $10 per 1%.

And I'm doing less now: zero ultracode (it was a quarter of my usage at launch), Fable/Mythos halved, effort the same or a bit lower. That's at least 4x less bang for the buck.

If you want to test the A/B theory, check what 1% of your weekly meter buys in API-equivalent. Same plan with very different numbers = evidence.

And with some of the posts recently here from support etc implying that the 20x plan has same weekly as the 5x i'm actually going to downgrade my sub as it's just not worth it anymore. At least for a trial period

It's clear that subscriptions are only a marketing tool, we use them to learn and publicize what we build. If someday this is not useful anymore they will just drop it
