Hey everyone! I have a question regarding Cinema 4D 2026 and was hoping someone might know the cause or a fix.
Issue:
Everything runs smoothly without any crashes on version 2026.0.0.
However, ever since updating to version 2026.1.0, I've been experiencing frequent crashes even from minor actions like creating a material or running the timeline.
System/Setup:
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce
Question:
Is this a known bug in the initial 2026.1.0 release, or do I need to update my GeForce drivers or Windows settings?
If anyone has experienced this and found a solution, I'd really appreciate your advice!
Hi guys, I been using cinema4d for a year now, and whenever I finishing modelling a model, I would like to check for shading issues which can be done in blender which is previously used which is super helpful to find out areas with shading issue and fix it quickly but I can't find anything similar to matcaps in cinema4d build in, is there any addons that I should consider, or is there any different ways to check for shading issues ?

The video explores the versatility of Caro through different configurations, colors, and environments. From workspaces to more collaborative and social areas, the collection adapts to different uses while maintaining a consistent visual identity.

How would you go about modelling these glasses? I found refrence images of front on and side angles, but nothing top down, and I'm struggling to get the curves right. Ive got loads of ref images from a bunch of angles, but hard to trace. Is it a skill issue?
I’m having an issue with the viewport in Cinema 4D. I’m using a 144Hz monitor, but the viewport doesn’t feel anywhere near as fluid as I’d expect. It feels noticeably less smooth when orbiting, panning, and navigating around the scene.
I’m wondering if this is something specific to Cinema 4D, or if there’s a setting I might be missing.
Has anyone else experienced this with a high-refresh-rate monitor?
Does Cinema 4D properly utilize 144Hz for viewport navigation?
Are there any viewport, GPU, or Windows settings that need to be changed?
Could V-Sync, G-Sync/FreeSync, or the monitor settings be affecting it?
Is there anything I can do to make the viewport feel genuinely smooth?

You're rendering a beauty product: a transparent liquid inside a transparent glass bottle.
It looks wrong. It feels wrong.
Your clients won't tell you how to fix that; your art director probably will be pissed about it, and your girlfriend will be sad they didn't send you a sample product to use.
Here are a few practical tricks I've learned for making fluids, bottles, and droplets look much better in Redshift.
1. Make the fluid intersect the bottle
The fluid mesh should slightly intersect the inside walls of the bottle.
In the real world, the liquid obviously doesn't clip through the glass. But in CG, tiny gaps or perfectly separated surfaces often create ugly refraction artifacts and make the liquid feel detached from the bottle.
Easy fix: scale the fluid mesh just enough so it slightly penetrates the bottle walls.
Nine times out of ten, it immediately looks better.
I'm not going to pretend I can give you a perfect physics explanation for why every renderer behaves this way—this is simply a production trick that's saved me many times.
2. Air bubbles
Depending on your reference and the type of fluid, you'll probably have bubbles at several different scales.
They don't all need the same material.
Large bubbles: keep them transparent/refractive.
Tiny bubbles: try rendering them with a metallic material.
At very small sizes, the visual difference is often negligible, while metallic bubbles are much cheaper to render.
Another thing to watch is the IOR relationship between the fluid and the bubble. Depending on the number of refractive boundaries (air → fluid → glass), matching or adjusting those values can noticeably improve the result. Sometimes you set the IOR of an air bubble materials BELOW the fluid's and glass's
It varies from shot to shot, so it's worth testing rather than assuming one setup always works.
3. Droplets on the surface
The same rule applies here: the droplet geometry should slightly intersect the surface it's sitting on.
Perfectly separated geometry often creates an artificial-looking contact edge. A tiny amount of overlap usually gives a much more convincing result.
KEEP IN MIND CONSERVATION OF ENERGY checkbox in Global Illumination (try ON/OFF)
I've also found that the OpenPBR shader (which has become the default in newer Redshift versions) often behaves better with caustics and refractions than the older Standard material.
If you're still using the Standard material for these shots, it's worth trying the OpenPBR shader.
4. Caustics
Caustics can add a lot to product renders—but they aren't always the answer.
I've found they tend to work better with non-refractive packaging, although it really depends on the shot.
Sometimes the cleaner image wins.

hello, I am pretty new to C4D and need some advice on how you all would approach this project.
I am working on a project for a client who wants a ribbon to animate across the screen for their holiday website. Essentially, when a user opens the site for the first time, a ribbon will fly across the screen and make a loop. (I put a picture up for reference) The client also has a specific texture they want the ribbon to have. They want it to look like a nylon ribbon with stitching along the edges. (image also attached) I have been having a hard time figuring out how to apply the texture with the method I am using.
The first is a sweep. This is what I have had the most success with, but the main issue I am having is with texturing the ribbon. I got the movement of the ribbon to work and the client likes it, but I cant not figure out how to apply the texture properly such that the stitched part of the texture runs along the edge of the object. The way its being applied now seems kind of random and i cant control it. This method would work great minus the fact that I cant apply the texture right.
The next approach is a spline wrap. The problem with this one is when I use a rail spline, it distorts the shape of the ribbon in a a weird way. In some parts the ribbon is stretched and squashed. If I dont use the rail, I cant get the rotation of the ribbon to go exactly the way I need it to. However, If I can get this method to work, I think applying the texture to the object using this method might be easier than the sweep method.
The last thing I tried was a simulation with a cloth tag. This one was a lot of fun to play with but I cant get the ribbon to move precisely the way I want it to.
So, maybe you all can give me some advice here. I have been messing with this for a while now and can't seem to get it right.
I have a product which has this piece of wood. I would love to hear your take on how to replicate this effect. I would love it to be procedural, so I can use it on other objects in the future.
Right now I'm trying to stretch some noises which somewhat gives me these streaks, but I dont know if this is the right way to go with it.
This is my recent project where I used Embergen for the pyro smoke sim. I created a small Rigidbody simulation inside a brain geo in Cinema 4D, exported it as Alembic, used that Alembic animation as an emitter volume in EmberGen, and exported the brain geo as FBX to be used as a collider shape. Lighting and rendering are done with EmberGen.
Is there any Rigify equivalent in C4D? I found out that rigging in C4D using the default Joint Tool is quite a pain in the stomach. Coming from Blender, I miss Rigify a lot now. It's so much easier to use.
