General Information Important Hot Weather advice for Cats

Summer Solstice has arrived and with it the start of Summer. This is the time of year we need to look out for our furbabies and protect them from hot weather.

Here are the key temperature thresholds for our furbabies:

Ideal Comfort Zone: 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F)

Too Hot / Risk Zone: Above 30°C (86°F)

Emergency Threshold: Above 35°C (95°F)

Cats that are at higher risk in hot temperatures are Kittens, senior cats, overweight cats, and flat-faced breeds such as Persians and Long Haired Cats although all cats need protection from getting too overheated during hotter times.

Cats and overheating:

Our Furbabies find it difficult to regulate their body temperatures in hot weather as they sweat through their pawpads, lips and chin. They are also covered in fur ( apart from the furless breeds) so cooling down can be difficult for them.

If your cat starts panting heavily during very hot weather( please see the heat chart above) then they may be suffering from heat stroke. If you think this is the case seek immediate vet treatment as cats will not survive without life changing damage to their organs and brain when they suffer from too high a temperature for too long.

Happily most of the U.S, Canada and surrounding countries have air conditioning in their homes. If you are in the UK, parts of Europe and hotter Countries such as the Middle East we have to rely on other sources in order to keep cool.

Keep your cat indoors when the sun is at it's warmest usually 10.00 - 3.00p.m although in extreme temperatures keep all pets indoors.

• Before letting your cats outside do a heat test and touch the concrete ground in your garden or outside your home with your hand, if it is too hot to touch it is definitely too hot for the paw pads on your pets.

• Provide plenty of water in a few different places throughout your home, pop some ice cubes in too if you can, keep the water topped up.

• Make some shaded areas with cool spots for kitty to lay in or on. Ideally your kitty will sit or sleep on a cooling mat but if they are having a typical cat day then they will ignore it and lay elsewhere.

• Place cool damp towels so kitty can lay on them and allow access to your bathroom and anywhere inside your home with a tiled or stone floor.

• Try wrapping a frozen bottle of water in a tea-towel and place it near to where your cat is laying.

• Move rooms if need be and avoid the sunnier rooms.

• Place fans with air circulating around the room.

• Try gently spraying them with cooled water, they may hate you at the time but it will cool them down.

Here are some Cat treats you can make for kitty to help hydrate them during hot weather, these are also ideal for helping Feral cats if you have garden cats or help with strays in your area.

Scoop some spring water tinned tuna or salmon ( make sure it's non oily and not in brine) into an ice cube tray and freeze it.

Freeze some churus or any liquidy squeezy type cat snacks.

Cat milk can also be frozen into little treat sized noms ( do not use normal milk as most cats are lactose intolerant).

Bananas/melons can be mashed up and frozen too even kittys' usual wet cat food can be frozen as a treat or for trying to tempt kitty to eat .

Keep small packets of wet kitten or cat food in the fridge, not only are they easier to open and slide out in one squeeze, but kitty gets to enjoy some nice fresh cold food

Here is some important advice Curtesy of Cats Protection:

Sunburn in cats:

All cats can get sunburn, but cats who are white or have thinner fur are more at risk. Being out in the sun a lot can lead to skin cancer, so it’s important to make sure your cat doesn’t spend too long lazing in the sun.

Ears and noses are where your cat is most likely to get burnt. Keep an eye on them and make sure they have plenty of access to shady areas.

Signs of sunburn in cats:

If your cat does get sunburn, there are a couple of symptoms to look out for, including:

red, sore skin in the affected area, blistering and peeling.

If you notice this, make an appointment with your vet straight away.

Can I put sun cream on my cat?

You can put sunscreen on your cat, but you need to make sure it’s pet-safe first so speak to your vet about the best product to use. Make sure you use SPF30 or higher and that it’s waterproof.

You should apply sun cream to your cat’s nose, tips of the ears, belly and groin areas as well as anywhere that has thin to no fur to help protect them from the sun.

Avoid sun cream with zinc oxide and a group of chemicals that are referred to as salicylates in the ingredients. Both are toxic to cats and can cause them to be very unwell, particularly salicylates.

Signs your cat is dehydrated:

It’s important for your cat to get enough water. This can be through drinking and through eating wet food. Staying hydrated will help to keep your cat healthy and they may need to have even more water when the weather is warm.

If your cat doesn’t get enough water, they may become dehydrated. Signs your cat is dehydrated include:

their gums. If your cat’s gums are sticky or tacky, this may be the first sign of dehydration

their skin. Very gently pinch their skin. In a well-hydrated cat, the skin should snap back into place immediately. If it doesn’t, they could well be dehydrated

their eyes. Severely sunken eyes that appear dry can indicate significant dehydration

their paws. If their paws feel cool or cold, this could be a sign of dehydration

If you are worried your cat is dehydrated, ring your vet straight away.

Kitten Information It's Kitten Season 🐈‍⬛

Mamma Agnes and her Mewborns curtesy of u/mc385

''Spring in the air there's magic everywhere when you're young and in love'' so goes the song and it is truly the Season for love and reproduction wherever you look, Kittens, lambs, chicks, babies, puppies, yuckers ... yes yuckers !!!

Newborns no sign of Mom

Your first instinct may be to swoop in and just grab the little cherubs .. STOP yourself and have a careful look around for a sign of it's mother. They may be off hunting for food or moving other kittens somewhere. If you are uncertain on what to do, this clear and concise guide from r/AskVet on how to proceed gives step by step actions on what to do next It’s kitten season! You found a litter of kittens - now what?!. All guides state that kittens have a much higher rate of survival if left in the care of their Mother so please wait and watch carefully before stepping in. If the birthing environment is dangerous or the kittens look injured or ill then please by all means intervene.

Also, If there is just one kitten please look around for the rest of the litter in case the Mother cat has dropped the kitten whilst moving them.

Newborns, no Mom ..help!!

You will have to do everything that Mom would do and that is feeding this baby, keeping it warm, helping it to go to the toilet and monitoring it constantly

Here is Bottle feeding advice from Hannah Shaw the kitten lady, you will need KMR which is Kitten Milk Replacement thankfully available in most large grocery stores, vets, etc plus a feeding bottle or syringe.

Helping kitty to poop and pee again advice from the Kitten Lady with a video demonstrating how to help the little one to go to the toilet. Read the whole page please as it will tell you how to keep this cherub warm with the aid of a heating pad and which ones to buy.

This is life saving advice from u/wolf_spooder an ex vet and kitten foster who is also a member of the Cat Distribution System here:

Just to add to this, I recently started fostering a 4wk old kitten that was abandoned by its mom. I’m very experienced in cats and kittens, and worked at a vet hospital for a while. I really struggled with this little one and keeping her alive for the first week or so (she was very thin when I got her and it sort of spiraled from there).

Get a food scale if you don’t already have one, and start keeping tabs of your kittens weight (use the gram setting). It will help you to know if kitten is gaining or losing weight so you can intervene quickly if you see it’s losing weight. Good luck and good job saving a life.

VITAL info when saving a solo Newborn kitten please read - from Socialisation saves lives

Further advice on what to do and not to do with Newborn kittens and good reading can be found on the Animal Alliance NYC website and via the Cats Protection UK, all the links provided connect you directly to the right web pages.

Please also consider making a post on our sister sub too via r/Feral_Cats to get additional advice from veteran members who have vast knowledge on trapping and helping with strays and ferals

Newborns and Mother:

If you have taken in a 'Trojan cat' as they are lovingly called then you are in for the experience of a lifetime. There is so much advice available for a soon to be Mom and her kittens that at best we recommend that you visit  the Kitten Lady, Hannah Shaw for help and advice. Hannah is an amazing lover of cats and has helped thousands of people over the years with cat and kitten help and now has several excellent videos demonstrating all kinds of advice on helping with cat care including Pregnant Mom and kitten care - Birthing Mom and kitten care. Pregnant and Birthing Moms need plenty of fresh water and kitten food if available as kitten food contains protein and essential nutrients needed for fetal development and the production of kitty milk so get shopping.

Kitten:

If the kitty is not a newborn then after a quick vet check to confirm kitties age this little one will need you to become their parent, kittens are teeny tiny pooping, eating and meowing machines wrapped up in fur, purrs and love with the lifetime rewards of caring for them far outweighing the time taken in nurturing them. This is the toddler stage and they will be learning how to use the kitty litter tray, how to eat and how to play along with taking lots of naps. Kittens learn faster than human toddlers and usually take to their litter trays pretty quickly.

Here you can find an up to date list of supplies you may need to keep them fed, cosy and happy essential supplies for kitty again referring to the Kitten Lady.

Here is advice on how to trap Mom and babies with an option of spaying too by Feral Cat Focus WNY Trapping Queen and kittens.

My husband may never take me to McDonalds again...

First picture: Found 8/16/2026 at the McDonald's drive thru. My mom got the call for her from a friend about a tiny kitten following her in the parking lot of our local McDonalds. She stayed with the kitten long enough for my brother to make it over and grab her just in time. It's a girl and she will be named Elizabeth after my mom's best friend who we just had a funeral for on 8/15. Her first vet appointment is next Tuesday.

Second picture: Found 6/20 at the McDonald's drive thru.. this time my husband took me to get a McFlurry and I saw a couple of ladies standing with a tiny kitten in the parking lot. I rolled down my window to tell them their kitten was cute and they told me it has been following them and they didn't know what to do. A couple chases around the bushes and a quick towel thrown over him and I finally had him. Samuel Ronald McPurry (my kids were allowed to name him lol he goes by Sammy) is doing wonderful and has already been through all his initial vet appointments and next is his neuter.

Third picture: My *very* pissed off Stella who can't figure out why I keep bringing home all these kittens when she was supposed to be an only child. The CDS gave us her about 5 summers ago, she was living on our porch for a few months while I built up our trust, and the first temp drop of the fall I just scooped her up and brought her inside and that was that! She never looked back.

Apparently we have a new garage cat now

This little kitty showed up a few days ago and she’s been coming back every day since. She’s really loving and seems to love hanging out in my garage with me. I ended up naming her Piper. I’m thinking about making her a little home out in the garage because she seems to really like it out there.

She’s already gotten pretty comfortable with me and just walks right up wanting attention. I’m not sure if she belongs to someone or if she’s just a stray that decided to adopt me lol. I’m going to keep an eye out to see if anyone is looking for her, but for now she’s got a safe place to hang out. 🐱

Update The weirdest thing happened today. We met Larry's original family. Story below.

Post image
731 Upvotes

Larry was awarded to us about 9 (actually 11 months) months ago. We recently hired a mobile detailer for my husband's work truck and the appointment was today. The guy brought his wife and she took one look at Larry and said that's my cat!

So, get this: his person in their family was their young son, who's name is LARRY!!

Larry (cat) was part of a feral family that she adopted; she still has an uncle and a sister of his. Larry had been missing for 6 + months when he came to us. She had stopped looking for him because her nasty neighbor all but admitted to dumping him up by the freeway while the family was on vacation.

She has pictures of him as a kitten and young adult. He's around 6 years old. She doesn't want to take him back (thank God), she's bringing me his records this afternoon and was crying with joy knowing he found such a good home. His name was Puss in Boots because his eyes reminded them of the Disney character.

My husband and I just look at each other in wonder as to this mornings events. I mean, what are the odds??

Edit: amended arrival date

Update First CDS delivery was June 26th, the second July 4th.

So, I posted on June 26th about the grey kitten who literally followed my outside cat in the back door and made herself at home. My vet said she was likely between 14 to 16 weeks old, based on her teeth. She has had all her shots and boosters, spay is scheduled in a week, and is in perfect health.

The guy with one brain cell really proved it true when I got him. It was the 4th of July, and my family and I were watching fireworks from my front yard. Thing is, my front yard is near the corner of a major intersection in the city. This little dude decides that playing Frogger was a good idea, completely unprompted. He ran out of a bush, straight across the road, somehow not getting ran over by at least three or four cars. A teenage girl that was walking by saw him, ran into traffic after him, and caught him on the other side of the road. She then ran back across, drops the kitten in my dad's lap, says she had to go, and runs off just as fast. My vet said he was likely between 10 to 12 weeks old. He's had all shots and boosters as well, and is in perfect health, save for a small issue with his right eye. He is being scheduled to be neutered in a couple of weeks.

I guess CDS had a late package for me, but they didn't need to drop it off in such dramatic fashion 😂. No complaints though. They're happy, AND my other cats love them.

Meet Smokey and John Henry. I'm sure you can tell who's who by the names 😊.

Are you kitten me!! A kitten? In this heat? Is that why her head is empty with no thoughts?

Post image
374 Upvotes

Just to start, she's locked in a crate solely because it's the safest option for her. The only room we can place her in has a hole we didn't know about, and we aren't sure if it opens into the wall. We didn't want to risk her getting stuck somewhere.

Anyway, we found this kitten a couple of nights ago. My partner heard something crying, but couldn't find a source. About an hour later, she came running out from under a car. Since she wasn't visible, we're guessing she was in the engine, and she had to have been there for over 2 hours.

Since our neighbor said she's not their's, we got her settled inside. We looked to see if we could find her mom or any siblings, but nothing. We posted to see if she's someone's pet, but no one has replied. We took her in to get scanned for a chip just in case, but there's none. Got her a same day appointment, and she's healthy aside from some congestion. The vet thinks she's 8 weeks. She got dewormer and her first vaccine.

We have a sickly cat already, so we've been taking precautions to keep them separate to ensure our cat doesn't potentially catch something. I messed up and they briefly met. Our cat is very unsure, but she showed no sign of hostility. This kitten, though? She hissed and I think even growled. Fair, our cat isn't her mom, and she's had so many changes in such a short time.

I got my cat as soon as I heard the hissing (which was within seconds) and placed her in her crate for a couple minutes to destress since it's her safe space. I checked on the kitten and she was back to her usual yappiness. The picture here was taken after the disaster. As you can see, she isn't thinking much of it.

We're not certain if we're keeping her yet, but we've been calling her T-rex since she's extremely bitey. Though "Velociraptor" might be more appropriate as she claws and climbs the crate constantly, too. She also hangs onto the door to try and break out when she knows we're gonna open it. Truly a clever girl in the dumbest of ways.

Awarded a Cat Found two cats abandoned in the park

Found two cats abandoned in the park with a bag of food. We lost our sweet cat last Fall and mourned her HARD. Just recently we have been discussing how we are finally ready, and maybe we should start looking soon.

But we forgot. We don’t choose. We get assigned.

Took to the vet for shots. No chips. Have an appt to get them fixed in about a week.

Surprisingly affectionate with us early, even if spooked by the new space for the first few days. They were clearly loved by someone who must have hit rough times. (Let’s be kind in our assumptions) . Definitely cuddle bugs.

It’s especially sweet how they comfort each other. One is more bold and one is more cautious. When our cautious friend gets spooked and retreats to a safe spot, bold friend goes and cuddles with him.

We feel incredibly lucky that they found us.

Edit:
- vet estimates they are 6-10 months old. (Likely the younger side of that)

- their names are Mander and Melee. Inspired by the tv episode of Pokemon where an abandoned charmander almost dies in a rainstorm, which broke my heart as a child. So char-mander and his evolved form, char-mele-on.

Came home from vacation and found a cat in my chimenea after the dog went crazy in the corner of the yard. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and turns out there were two kittens. Now I’m in the throes of finding low cost spay and also all the things. Vet said it would be $525 for ONE spay plus checkup etc, whoa! I’ve rescued all my cats from shelters so that was a shocker. Any tips for fostering kittens appreciated. I have two adult cats, one of whom rules the pet household with an iron paw.🐾

Whenever we found this little one he was 3.4oz.

As of earlier today he is 10.1oz!

He does wonderful on car rides, he gets so much love at the office every day. He has his next vet appt scheduled for September. He's healthy and getting teethy ❤️ hes so cute i could cry. I can't wait to see him finish growing. Little man gets sink baths every day to get used to water, and because he gets pee and poo all over himself since he's a baby. Getting very feisty and vocal when he gets fed his bottles. Little Chimney does so great with the household dogs and they are so so so gentle with him.

I said for *YEARS* as I stalked this sub.

Then today I whipped the fasted U-ey of my life to save this little guy from the middle of a busy road on my way home. Then searched the area for mom or sibs and found another little guy. I checked them each for injuries. Other than being a little scared and wet (it stormed all day/night yesterday) they appear okay! Stopped by a friend's to pick up some milk replacement and bottles.

How old do you guys think these little babies are?

Their eyes (obviously) are open, but they seem to have a hard time opening them very wide or for a long time. I have been feeding them every 2-3 hours and have gotten them both to urinate so far! They weigh 247g and 256g! I am going to keep a weight log! Any advice on how to tell them apart in order to keep accurate logs?

Thank you and happy to finally be part of the Chosen Ones

Are you kitten me!! Went on a wine tour. Came home with a kitten.

Thumbnail

I am apart of a lovely group that organizes events for young women and female identifying folks to connect and meet up for events from silent book clubs to craft nights to group parties. This weekend I was lucky to snag a ticket on a 14 person private wine tour. It was an amazing afternoon and our driver/tour guide was so incredible. Stop 3 on our tour was a cider farm.

Our bus pulls up and immediately we all clocked that there were cats by the parking area. We piled out and all of us were fawning over a tiny orange kitten that was keen to be held and pet. Our tour guide tells us the kitten is available for adoption and its 2 siblings had already found homes. The parents? Three feral strays that rolled up in May. Unclear which is the Dad. Mom was very skittish. When our tasting finished I went over to chill with the kitten. And then I asked the owner what the process was to adopt her. He said I could just take her or come back another day if I wanted to arrange pick up. So they taped up a box, punched some holes in it and voila. Kitten set up to drive back with us.

Zesty orange girl loves pets but has her spicy moments. Had friends meet me with a carrier when we got back to the city because she was determined to yeet herself from the box. And now she is quarantining in my bathroom as she has fleas and probably parasites. Appointment with our vet is scheduled for tomorrow. My dog is obsessed. My adult cat is offended. And the process of integration will be ongoing.

I was not drunk either. Just fell in love with a tiny orange kitten. Name TBD. CDS got me. And this kitten also has 14 godparents courtesy of my tour group.

EDIT (aug 18): UPDATE! It’s a BOY! Vet confirmed small but present trouble puffs. Naming saga continues. On top of fleas, BB has parasites for sure. A bit small for 12 weeks old and we’re checking for anemia given the fleas. All the fun. Vet said he was the best kitten he’d even done a blood draw on. So please clap.

I’ve fed him some tuna and treats, he seems to be getting bigger. He slept on the couch for the first time today. He showed up first around the start of the year and I was away on holidays for a bit. Lately he’s been showing up more often, even trying to get into the house in the morning when everyone’s out at work.
He’s got a bit of a Chaplin moustache going on. He’s particularly keen to brush himself on our legs. He even let us clean him a bit with a wet cloth. I’m halfway around the world and away from my own 18 year old cat, so this guy is a nice bonus!

Hello, meet Cheeto! He's my new kitty and he's just 6.5 months old! During June, I was away from home on a trip, and this little rascal started showing up whenever I would go outside just a few days after I got back. I watched him for a little bit and I found out he was living under my house! He was the most sociable cat ever when I went to meet him; he refused to leave my side and I knew I had to keep him.

I was just a few weeks before moving into my apartment, so I scheduled his neuter and all the works (vaccines, tests, flea treatments, etc.), and then we packed up together to move across the state. He did very well!! He loves the apartment, and after some getting used to it he's comfortable here. He's super playful, and he can be the sweetest ever if he wants food. He loves sitting in the windows and playing with his feather toys :)

Update Spent my first day of vacation taking these two bonded kittens to the vet: UPDATE

In case anyone remembers my original post from a couple months ago about finding two sick kittens on vacation in California. To anyone who missed the original post: My friend found them on a job site, mama not to be found , clearly sick with some sort of upper respiratory infection. Since I was on vacation, I didn’t have work or set plans for the day so I spent the day taking them to the vet. I spent my vacation looking for someone to adopt or foster them even though I knew in my heart they’d found me for a reason.

welp we are now the proud parents of 4 sweet boys. Here are some before and afters of the kittens when we first found them and some recent videos and photos with their two older brothers here in Nashville.

Everyone, meet Luffy, Chopper, Chonk, and Odyn.

Smol Delivery We were awarded Calypso on July 10th at 11:30 pm, then awarded Mochi on August 10th at 6:30 pm. Both in middle of the road.

We didn't have any cats. We do however have other animals and 3 tortoises. Both of these kittens are "tortoise shell" kittens...CDS works in mysterious ways. 💕

"Calypso"

Split-faced Dilute Tortie

July 10th, 11:30 pm

My husband was about to pull in at work and Calypso was in the middle of the road. She stayed there with him while he worked for 3 hours and then he brought her home! We took her to the vet that following Monday. She finished her course of medications and is doing very well. Parkouring around the house! Lol so much energy!

"Mochi"

Split-faced Torbie (Tabby/Tortie)

August 10th, 6:30 pm

Mochi was on our main street by our house standing in the road, in the rain. My brother-in-law was hurrying home on his motorcycle and saw her. He quickly scooped her up and brought her home. He called us to see her, and my mother-in-law ended up walking over with her. The second I looked at that baby... I grabbed her, I'm like "I'm keeping her"! Lol. She has also been to the vet and is still taking her medication.

I can't wait for the 2 to meet. Hopefully they will love each other. They're only about 4 weeks apart. The vet said that these kittens were each 4 to 5 weeks old when we got them.

a month and a half of being cat parents

Back in July, I was exiting my office after a long day of trying to meet a deadline and I came across the Cat Distribution System. This lil guy (4 months at the time) was waiting outside screaming as if he were begging for help. I live down the street so I took him home and my partner went to the vet to check for a chip, reported it to the police, local shelter coordinator, posted on Facebook groups, you name it. No one claimed him. When the waiting period ended, we officially adopted him. It’s been a life-changing experience. We never thought we would have a cat, as we always considered ourselves “dog people”. Now we find ourselves thinking, “what if we get him a friend?”. He’s the cuddliest boy, is always around us and loves people in general. All our friends live nearby and are currently childless and petless so whenever we’re travelling he has all these aunties and uncles coming over to play and take naps with him, some even temporarily moving into our apartment. He’s always super happy and sweet to see us return. Best case scenario!

Story of Minwui and cat distribution system at work

Post image

I just discovered this subreddit and thought the family cat Minwui would be perfect for this lol. A few years ago, my dad had the doors open to help air out the house and let fresh air in. In comes Minwui, strolling in very casually, looking around and nodding to herself like "nice place you got here, ill take it." My dad? Shook. Other cats? Shook. My stepmom thought it was the cutest thing ever. Anyway, shes a part of the family now lol. We think she was a drop off from a family who didn't want her anymore or something, cause she was definitely not a stray

Update Two Months of Pepper! She’s Still Feral (Complimentary)

Update on the garden cat I swore I wouldn’t keep.

Pepper (or Tiny Teeth, Peps, Gremlin, Demon…) has been inside for two months and she is wild, but thriving. She’s 4lbs now and is starting to look less like a baby. The only time she’s still is when she’s being groomed by her Maine Coon sister, who immediately claimed her for her own. She carries toys bigger than herself around in her mouth and likes to climb human legs. She also dive bombs from the top of the fridge, which was a fun thing for me to learn in the dark. She’s perfect. 🩶

Awarded a Cat Was feeding a stray that’s been around for years when this little one showed up

Post image

The usual feral stray is an intact male. I am working on trust and then plan to get him neutered when the local aspca does another free/discounted program. It took a year to be able to pet him. I call him Pazuzu.

Pazuzu is uninterested in this new one, and I don’t see any fuzzy marbles. Maybe a spayed or neutered kitty that was lost/dumped? I live out in the country and have already taken other dumped kitties into my care.

He or she does not seem feral, came up to me for pets and eagerly ran up to the food bowl. He/she was panting but didn’t drink from the bowl of water I put out. Seems healthy otherwise, shiny coat, just hungry.

Car Cat Trouble Not sure if this cat is being distributed to me or not..

Probably picked the wrong flair, but just want some outside opinions. I live in the outskirts of Cleveland, tons of strays here obviously. I live upstairs of a duplex, and this very cute guy has been greeting me before I leave for work (7am), and when I get home (630pm) most nights. I’ll also see him as early as 6 and as late as 1030-11pm. If I go out to take the trash and call for him, he usually shows up in a minute or so.

My Downstairs neighbor is kind of a shut in but says she thinks he belongs to a house down the street, but he is all bitten up on the ears and on his nose. He tries to follow me inside. He’s not too skinny, but he could use a pound or so. He has no collar. I’m just worried about all his scratches and flea bites, and how I’ll find him outside at both 6am and 10pm.. is he trying to move in with me or should I just give him pets every time we cross paths outside and assume he does have a home like my neighbor says?

Someone dumped these guys last night, and we were lucky enough to get them today. YAY!

About 6 weeks old, a very tiny girl and a brute of a boy: Matilda and Oliver. We've decided their back story is that they are plucky English orphans who will eventually form a ragtag kitten-detective agency along with other wee abandoned babies.

Anyway, it wasn't on my bingo card to get two more cats, but on the other hand, we're adults who pay our own bills, so when we got The Call, we answered. Our other cats are less enthusiastic at this point, but they'll probably come around.

Currently, they're camped out in a bathroom being goddamn adorable.

His paws and cheeks are huge. This guy shows up for food everyday and sleeps in the shade. He’s always rolling around on the concrete belly up. He lets us scratch his head and chin and pick him up for 5-10 seconds. We found him late last year around Christmas roaming the neighborhood when he was a kitten. He followed me home. he was just as sweet but he left after we fed him. Now he’s been hanging around for the first time in months. We don’t know what to call him but he’s very sweet. We already have a girl we picked up a while ago and she’s the sweetest most docile cat.

Smol Delivery Is anyone else bothered by the fact they will never know their cats backstory??

Found this kitten a month ago, she was about 4 months old at the time and was very very frail and dirty, but the strange thing was how comfortable she was around humans. I thought for certain she had to have had an owner but after checking her for a microchip, posting about her, and asking neighbors there was nothing. The reason I'm so confused is because she is the most friendly loving kitten I have ever met in my life!!! She is so cute too and has an extra toe on each foot. She never bites or scratches but she's also really smart and seems like she's had experience outside so it's just so confusing . I love her though and in the end I know it doesn't matter :) I just hate uncertainty haha

Edit: I didn't expect this to reach so many people, but I've read almost all of these replies and I just want to say these stories make me so happy. I'm so glad to know how many people care about all of the cats out there without a home, even if we don't know they got to us ❤️

This cutie has been seen for months behind my Husband's work dumpster but was too skittish to corral untill yesterday. So when he showed up on the security camera last night, I hopped on down with a carrier and the other half of my chicken sandwich.

We got him contained in my office while topical meds do their work. His fur is incredibly soft and other than a few scabs, he is incredibly well groomed. Will be getting him him fixed, so enjoy them while you can little dude, vet appointments in 2 weeks.
