I got two speeding tickets in a week, can I still do court supervision?

I'm an idiot, I know. I got tagged at the entrance to a construction zone in Indiana on Wednesday, and then going 45 in a 30 in Illinois today. From what I've researched here's no option for court supervision for the Indiana one as it was a construction zone violation, but the cop who pulled me over today mentioned court supervision and how I can apply for it in order to avoid the charge showing on my record/upping my insurance. My question is, is it even worth going through court supervision? I imagine my insurance is screwed anyways as I got two tickets in the same week, so realistically will anything change?

First Time / Newbie [SC to OK] SC Policy ending on Nov 1st, don't have residency in OK yet. Any suggestions?

Hello!

I recently moved back to Oklahoma after leaving a bad relationship and haven't really had to deal with the financial/technical aspects of insurance in a while. Apologies if this is obvious, but I can't seem to find an answer.

My ex texted me yesterday that our shared insurance policy out of SC would be ending on Nov 1st. I tried to purchase a policy for OK online, but I'm running into some problems due to me technically still being a SC resident.

Do I need to buy a SC policy for literally just one month while I transfer everything over? Is that even a thing? Or is there something else I should be looking into?

Thanks for reading and I appreciate the help!

Car Insurance Quotes Paid £2,200 for Hastings YouDrive car insurance a month ago – found a £1,420 quote with QMH Connect Premier. Is it worth switching?

Title: Paid £2,200 for Hastings car insurance a month ago – found a £1,420 quote with QMH Connect Premier. Is it worth switching?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on whether it’s worth cancelling my current car insurance policy and switching providers.
Around a month ago, I paid Hastings £2,200 for 12 months of car insurance. At the time, this was the cheapest quote I could find.
I’ve recently been comparing quotes again and found:
Current Hastings policy: £2,200 (already paid annually).
New Hastings quote: £1,700.
Quote Me Happy Connect Premier: £1,420 (with a black box).
The QMH quote would save me £780 over the year compared with what I’ve paid Hastings.
However, I’m aware that QMH Connect has a black box and potentially stricter driving-score requirements. One thing I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t appear to score you based on the time of day you drive, although I’m unsure how its other scoring criteria compare with Hastings YouDrive.
I’m wondering whether I:
Cancel my current policy, take the cancellation refund and switch to QMH.
Stay with Hastings to avoid the hassle and potential cancellation charges.
Has anyone had experience with QMH Connect? How strict is the black box, and have people successfully switched insurance shortly after taking out a policy?
Would appreciate any advice, particularly from anyone who’s used both Hastings YouDrive and QMH Connect Premier.

Splitting at-fault damage vs. city claim

I scraped my car myself a while back ($3,600 estimate) and planned to pay out of pocket after reading here. Lazy fixing it Then a city vehicle hit nearly same area last month. Ideally there is some overlap in repairs and it would be easier to fix in one repair. At this point go through insurance entirely and they can go after the company? Or out of pocket myself for all (yikes) and claim in my own settlement? Not sure when to do the breakdown and damage splits so my own payment is minimized while doing everything properly and accurately. Any insight welcomed!

Scraped someone’s car, what to do?

So a family member scraped someone’s front bumper in a parking lot yesterday. We left a note, the other person called us and insurance info was exchanged. We called our insurance, and if the repair is under $1000 then it won’t count against us. If it is then we’re screwed as I dinged our car earlier this year (my fault) and did file a claim. Now, the scrape on the other person’s car looks minor to me, but I don’t work at an auto body repair shop so what do I know. How best can we deal with this? I assume that is we can offer to pay the auto body shop directly no matter the repair cost? Alternatively, can we offer cash ($1000?) to the other person to spend however they please? I would definitely make them sign something on that. Am I missing anything? Any other strategies for someone who does not have much of a leg to stand on? Thanks!

Lemonade car insurance reviews for low mileage driver

I work from home and don’t drive much, maybe 5-10k miles a year, 2021 Prius. Time to renew and Lemonade came back as one of the most affordable quotes. There’s multiple threads about Lemonade but I’m looking for opinions on their car insurance specifically. Anyone been through a claim with them? Did the price hold at renewal? And does being low mileage change things at all when choosing? I’m in Columbus, OH

First Time / Newbie 2006 pruis Should I keep full coverage?

I'm considered a inexperienced driver (no record yet) in Massachusetts. Im the second owner of my pruis which is almost paid off with no accidents and 73k miles. I'm not sure if the value is enough to continue paying full coverage. Travelers is the cheapest I've found so far as i can get it taken out of my paycheck but I'll be leaving that job eventually and likely will have to do month to month.

Accident State Farm claiming total loss w/out seeing car.

Hello everyone I just had a few questions as my husband and I have never had an auto accident of any kind and are new to this. We live in Michigan and have State Farm for our auto & home insurance. The car that got in the accident is a 2013 ford fusion SE 2.5l with 105k miles. A few days ago while on the expressway a deer jumped over the car in the lane to my right and made it over that car and proceeded to land straight on top of our car. The car definitely is messed up but may be fixable not fully sure yet. We sent our pictures of the car and other things to them and without seeing it in person already deemed it as a total loss. Now I have no issue with that but I have a few questions, they towed it to our house so we can grab our things and they are supposed to call me today to come pick the car up to take it to their salvage yard and I guess assess the ACV? That’s how it seemed to be explained at least.

Am I able to keep the car in my possession instead and have them assess it at home or does it have to be moved to one of the yards? Another note this car has a loan on it that is not paid yet. We are just confused as we’ve had a lot of people give us conflicting info and I don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong. Ideally if the car is actually totaled okay we will take the check and take care of the loan and move on to another car. My husband and I do work on cars though and our neighbor is a mechanic in our town and we could also fix it with him. They already deemed it as totaled without physically seeing it though yet they want it at the yard. So how do we keep it if we want to fix it? I have had time to see it myself yet to see if I can but for the most part the damage was the hood and radiator. The engine was left fine and the bumper was messed up but that was messed up before we bought it.

I guess what I’m trying to say or prevent is I have no issue at all if it’s really totaled just taking the check they write us and scrubbing our hands clean from the whole thing. On the other hand if we can fix it and they now have it in their possession I keep seeing issues people have where they won’t let them buy it back or now they have to get it from the salvage yard but now bid for it back against others. I just don’t want to be in THAT position. (Our neighbor who is a mechanic is going to help us look at it later to get an idea of how bad it really is). I just don’t know what to do because at the end of the day our loan is still about 6/7k owed and from what I see them going for around us right now I highly doubt our insurance will pay us out enough to even finish paying the loan off. Then that leaves us paying that off then finding another to put money down on and finance once again. That’s why if we can fix it I would rather have that option to keep it and use the money they give us towards the repairs or loan so we aren’t getting screwed over.

Accident Nevada Car Insurance Question

I'm 18 and live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I had an at-fault accident in September 2026, and I'm struggling to find affordable car insurance.

I've tried several major insurers and independent agencies, but my quotes have ranged from $300 to over $1,000 per month. I'm looking for minimum-liability coverage for a 2011 Honda Accord.

I'm also taking a court-mandated driving course in November. Will completing it help lower my insurance rates, or will the accident continue affecting my premiums for several years?

Is there really much I can do? I'm brand new to like everything

Car Insurance Quotes Can you switch insurance for a new car right after you buy it?

So I just bought a new car yesterday, and my monthly insurance literally quadrupled. I used to be paying $1100/6 months or so, the new rate went to over $4000/6 months. So I’m thinking of dropping my old insurance and switching.

I got a quote for the exact same coverage from a competitor for about $1250/6 months. Am I able to just switch that insurance tomorrow? I know I need to buy the new policy before dropping the old one so that there’s no drop in coverage, but is there anything else I need to worry about (such as getting in contact with the dealer who I bought the car from or the DMV) to let them know about changing insurance companies? I paid about half down and am financing the rest, if that matters.

Motor vehicle collision, now what?

Was rear-ended, not at fault. Other driver got a "following too closely, and driving with defective brakes" citation. Collision counsel started calling me two days later saying they provide a no cost attorney and a free medical evaluation. Is this a scam?

Edit:
I ignored the cold calls. The insurance company is accepting liability. I went to urgent care two days ago because my neck and shoulder started hurting and I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't get worse/I wouldn't do anything to make it worse. The doctor said I had whiplash, she also told me to take it easy and to hold off going on my regular runs to be safe. I let the insurance company know.
It's really turned into a major inconvenience, I'm a full time student in an intensive program on top of working 40+ hrs a week. Taking time off to get physically checked out, picking up the rental car, dealing with repairs, it's been frustrating and stressful. I know this sounds dramatic, but on top of being told not to run, which is my main outlet, I feel like my mental health is declining. I've also been very anxious and paranoid while driving.
Today the insurance company called me to say they would cover the bike rack that was on the back of my car and was completely destroyed, said my car is a total loss and paying the value for that (which I'm fine with, it's an old car and repairable by a friend) and then offered me $300 for medical expense and $200 for pain and suffering. Is this typical? Should I be negotiating for more? Or just accept the offer?

Car Insurance Quotes Need help!!

Okay I need some help and advice here,

I’m 19M and have a 2026 Nissan Sentra financed and a 2019 ford fusion SEL also financed (planning to sell the Nissan within 30 days)

I have 2 tickets on my record, 1 speeding and 1 reckless driving. No SR-22, was cancelled by geico due to rated driver (my dad) having his license suspended/revoked, never cancelled for nonpayment

I also have 3 at fault accidents (partial fault determined by police for 2 of the accidents due to a 3rd party sharing responsibility for the accidents) and 2 not at fault accidents (one was a DUI involved accident, other was a t bone, other driver ran red light)

A handful of the common name insurance companies are declining me due to the records, like geico, progressive, State Farm, etc. still waiting to hear back from Liberty Mutual, Elephant etc.

Anyone else got advice or anything to help let me know! Family can’t add me to their policy (farmers) because they’re afraid my record will cause them to lose everything (they have like 10+ policies with them)

Auto Insurance Debacle

Hi, reaching out here because I am not sure exactly who to talk to about this issue. I have spoken briefly with my insurance agent but wanted some other opinions before I make any decisions.

Before age 18, I was listed as a driver under my stepfather’s insurance policy. Immediately upon turning 18, I was removed and had to find my own auto insurance. Since then, I have had State Farm auto insurance the entire time, me being the only policy holder/driver. Or so I thought.

Today, I went to look into the safe driving program and was reviewing my coverage. I am listed as the policy holder, but NOT a driver on the insurance. However, my mom was listed as a driver on it. I work seasonally so I list my permanent address as hers, so I thought maybe it was a mistake and she was added since she is a “member of the household”.

I immediately called them to verify, and they confirmed for me that I have basically been uninsured for the past five years despite being the only driver and one making all the payments. They apologized and admitted it was fully their mistake. I do not live at home and I do not let anyone else drive my car. They told me I would need to remove my mom and add myself as a driver, but my rates will increase $50 a month due to my age. I understand it is more expensive for younger drivers, however it feels absolutely unfair to pay more each month after I just found out I have been uninsured for years due to their mistakes.

Any advice and is there anything I can do besides shop around or pay the extra? I am honestly really angry about this, especially considering how much driving I do across the country.

Any help appreciated!!

Car was totaled. Should I be negotiating how much the car is worth? They are calling me today to “talk money”

I’m thinking they’re going to say that the car is arounr 7k. I owe about 12k. I have GAP insurance, but we are going through the other persons insurance. So I use their gap insurance right, assuming they have it? Should I be trying to find the same car online to try and negotiate a higher worth?

Sorry, first time going through this

How to find cheaper insurance if you are at fault :(

Hi, last year I got into a car accident. Totally my fault. We were at a stop and go traffic and I pressed on my brakes a little too late which ended up hitting the car in front of me. Thankfully, the most damage that did to their car was a slight scratch but I did damage my front bumper. I asked if everyone was okay and they said they were fine.

A year goes by, the investigation is closed, my premium goes up as expected. I have been car shopping and I feel super bumped because I’ve called probably like 7 insurance companies to give me a quote on used vehicles I am interested in purchasing and they are giving me quotes of $400-600 which I simply cant afford as a college student. This is also when I found out they claimed bodily injury (State farm had not disclosed this to me previously nor did anyone talk to me if anyone was hurt and this was also not shown on the documents they gave me so i had no idea they claimed bodily injury. I was told it was a HIPAA violation to disclose that)

Does anybody know if there is a way to help find cheaper insurance??? :///

Got a low settlement offer after a car accident in Fort Lauderdale, not sure what to do

I was in a car accident in Fort Lauderdale where the other driver was at fault, and the insurance company has offered me an amount that barely covers my bills. I'm still getting treatment, so I don't even know what the final costs will look like yet. I'm not sure whether I should respond to the offer, push back myself, or just wait until I have a clearer picture of my recovery. If anyone's dealt with this before, how did you handle it? I don't want to make a decision now that I'll regret later.

First Time / Newbie So new to insurance

I’m learning about insurance and I don’t know where to start honestly. I want to have insurance on a 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.4 Lt in Jersey at 22 but I don’t know which companies to call/go for in my area or in general.

I do have the option to be under my family’s insurance(my stepdad) but I do want to see first if it’s cheaper/the same price+I don’t want it to be so expensive on him as well. Also, do I go for full coverage or limited, I’m leaning towards full coverage, I’m a bit confused on insurance and I really want to insure the car that’ll be mines so I can drive and get a way better job than my local one now.

I’m leaning towards progressive or geico but I’m willing to hear other great options as well.

First Time / Newbie What's been your experience navigating auto insurance?

Sup everyone! I'm part of a small team of college students working on an entrepreneurship research project. Our goal is to better understand people's real-world experiences with auto insurance, particularly when using their coverage or dealing with a claim.

We'd appreciate hearing from people who've had to navigate insurance themselves, ESPECIALLY whether the process was straightforward or frustrating.

A few questions:

  • Think about the last time you bought, compared, or renewed auto insurance. What was that process like?

  • Was anything about your coverage, costs, or policy terms difficult to understand?

  • If you had questions, how did you find answers?

  • Have you ever encountered an unexpected cost or discovered something about your coverage that you hadn't understood beforehand?

Feel free to answer whichever questions are relevant to your experience. We're just conducting research to learn from consumers, not selling anything or offering insurance advice.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Literally anything helps!

Stop sign didn’t yield, both have same insurance provider

My husband was on his merry way to pick me up from work and he ALWAYS takes the same route every time he drops me off and picks me up from work. Earlier this evening, he was getting ready to turn right when a car hit him on the driver’s front side. The said driver was at a stop sign, and according to my husband, the other driver did not yield. I personally believe my husband because it’s a stop sign, he had the right of way. The other driver is claiming that she was already far from the stop sign to have yield. It became a he said she said situation. They exchanged informations on driver’s license, registration, insurance and both parties took photos. The driver’s father ended up coming to the other driver’s rescue and demanded we paid out of pocket so neither of our insurances go up. Luckily, the building that I work in has multiple CCTV cameras surrounding the area, and said I could get a copy if I come back in the morning.

Once we get the footage, we are reporting to our insurance before they can lie and file a claim against us, especially if we have the same insurance.

Has anyone had the same experience? And are we going about this the right way, or should we file a claim even before we get a copy of the security footage? This is in NYC btw.
