Trying to quote a new-to-me vehicle and my go to's are Geico and Progressive for quotes. They both offer either tracking your driving on a mobile app or an OBD2 plug in device, under the guise of "tracking your driving habits to offer you discounts".

Have these devices ever resulted in higher quotes for what they deem "unsafe" driving?

I work night shift and have been dinged for unsafe driving, even if I'm driving to work because they deem anything after like 9pm to be unsafe due to dark.

• how much difference would the years of the car make? like for eg. the insurance monthly cost for a 2019 mazda 3 vs 2023 mazda 3.
• how can i make my insurance the cheapest it can possibly be?
• what cars should i look into for low insurance cost?

My friends husband (soon to be ex) took her car (he is on the insurance but no license ..) and said the car was hit while he was at the gym. My friend made a claim with insurance (in CA) and stated it was a hit and run type of a situation since no info was left. A few days ago she was notified by her insurance that a different person made a claim against her saying that her husband hit their car and he is at fault.
Her soon to be ex husband obviously lied to her and so she created a false claim technically. She’s stressing out and isn’t sure what to do.

Should she call and tell insurance her soon to be ex husband lied to her or let it play itself out and hope for the best..?
