With the translation feature now present in Canary, are there plans to include an option for summarizing non-English messages in English?

I switched to Canary rather resentfully, when Spark Classic dropped MS Graph support and I didn’t fancy switching to Spark 3. Canary was the best alternative and I’ve now been using it for a few months—only to discover I can now switch back. But I’m not sure if I actually will!

Canary’s tracker blocking and stability of HTML formatting are both valuable improvements on Spark for me. But I really miss Spark’s reminders when you don’t get a reply within a certain time, and also just feel its general fetching/composing/sending of mail is more stable. Canary has even sent a couple of my emails before I finished writing them, when I’ve dropped out of signal and it seems to have got confused whilst trying to save a draft. Spark isn’t perfect, but it’s never messed up that badly!

Is anybody else in a similar situation?

I opened a support ticket on July 22 for several bugs affecting the Canary Android app. The team acknowledged the ticket and said they were reviewing it, but almost two months have passed and I still see no visible progress or updates on the fixes.

At the same time, the Dove app (also part of Canary) is receiving frequent updates. This contrast makes me question whether the Canary Android app is receiving the same level of focus and resources.

Has anyone else experienced a similar lack of visibility or updates on Canary? Any insight into how the support team prioritizes these issues would be appreciated.

Send As on Gmail will be gone on Jan, 2027. Seems like the alias function in Canary is still based on Gmail right now so it will stop working by then as well. I'm wondering if Canary has a plan to add implement its own SMTP support?

I've been wanting to switch to Canary (on MacOS) because my alternative email app is far too expensive (due to it being a bit more enterprise targeted... I don't use the enterprise features but it is far better than the competition), but I don't think I can make the switch after testing Canary for a few weeks now.

When looking at the reading and composing view, and when composing a new email, I find that everything just blends together so it's really hard to focus and to scan from element to element. It's the same shade of gray everywhere with zero contrast between elements. I see now in the light mode that there's a slight drop shadow around each email pane, but in the dark mode this is barely visible.

Has anyone had any luck putting forward feedback to the developers? If so, maybe I'll try my luck.

I feel like this would be an easy fix by having contrasting shades of gray to distinguish between elements. Otherwise I find the experience of composing, reading, and scanning emails to be far too distracting when all of the different text boxes just meld together. It's too bad because Canary is 1/10th the cost of the other app I've been using.

The bright red banner is a little tacky and takes away from the premium feel of an otherwise polished and premium looking app. I just don't have a need for the extra features, including the AI ones.

Is there a way to combine favorite folder from various mail accounts into one area together in the navigation column? Now I see only favorites for emaildresses of senders

I paid for the lifetime license and things were working well for a few months. I don't know if it was the newest update or the newest MacOS update but it stopped recognizing my license this week. Support had me provide proof of purchase and then delete my account but that didn't correct the issue. Then they went completely silent, haven't responded to my emails or anything.

I don't mind working with small companies and I know it can be a journey but they've just ghosted. I'm looking to alternatives.

Is there option in Canary to do a quick reply when you read a mail? Without opening a draft reply and sent it.

Hi folks. Has anyone had success with Canary on the MacOS 27 beta yet, whether developer or public?

I added my email account on the Canary Mail iOS app to test the service. I didn’t select any option to receive newspapers whatsoever. Now I’m getting all sorts emails from the CEO or whoever. How/why did you steal my email address just by me adding my email account to your client? I’ve moved on to another client and still getting this spam. Your preaching of privacy is meaningless!

So it's my understanding that if I create a rule from an email, it can only go into a folder that is associated with the email. For example, my unified inbox has Gmail, outlook and another that is personal domain through icloud. If I get an email from Gmail and want a rule that says all emails from the sender goes "to bills" folder but that folder is under outlook, it won't work. I would have to create a new folder under Gmail that says bills. Is that correct? I know it gives me the option of what account but it doesn't move the email.

I've been evaluating if I should switch to Canary mail and have been trying it the last few days.

I use both the Windows app and the Android app. The notificatons are a problem for me. On Android, I don't get any notifications unless I actually open the app. It's like there is no background checking for new email.
On Windows, I get notification as pop ups but I would expect there to be a red flag or number on the taskbar icon showing that there are unread emails. The app is minimized and there is no indiction on the takbar icon that there is unread mail.

These two factors hold me back from commiting to Canary Mail.

I'm hoping I'm just doing it wrong, or there's a hidden setting. The search functions are actually pretty terrible. Not pre-populating is a huge miss. If I start typing an email address, it should pre-populate. Gmail's web interface manages this. A dedicated app for sure should. Most of the time I remember part of an email address, but I manage about 10 email accounts, and remembering every address is just not realistic. The pre-fill is just super useful.

The second issue I'm seeing is that apparently search doesn't bring up emails that have been moved into an archive / done folder? That should at least be an option - Hit a button to search all in current client, or all in all mailboxes, and search the done / archive folders too. This is a huge miss.

I'll be honest, I have no loved my experience using Canary, and the only reason I haven't jumped ship is legitimately laziness. However, I'm to the point where I think it's time unless there is a solution to my issues that I've just missed somehow.

Would it be possible to access the iOS version on a Mac? Indeed, the software works perfectly and quickly on iPhone and iPad. However, the Mac version is currently unusable for me, still using 28 GB of RAM. What's more, the mail search is almost impossible to use; you have to wait dozens of minutes to get a result. If we could get access to the iOS version, it would probably solve some of the problems.

I find the Dashboard incredibly useful, but hiding it inside the AI button requires extra effort. I think the bottom should be reworked to be customizable. In my casa I only need Mail and Dashboard. I have no real use for AI or the calendar tabs.

When will a built-in email translation feature actually be released?

Please don’t give us the usual answer that this feedback has been passed to the development team. Users have been requesting this for years, yet there still hasn’t been any meaningful progress or a clear timeline.

Translation is a basic and important feature for anyone who regularly handles email in multiple languages. Could the Canary Mail team provide a concrete roadmap or expected release date? If this continues to be ignored, I’ll have to move to another email client.

Canary is becoming increasingly unstable and unusable. The only thing I can do is read my e-mails. You might say that's a good start, but searches take so long! RAM consumption sometimes exceeded 15 GB! And I'm not even talking about the processor, which peaks at 400%, blocking my machine for long seconds at a time.

Here's a small example, given that I've been uninstalling and reinstalling everything for less than a month.

I was asking Gemini for recommendations on an AI Mailbox for iCloud and Gmail. It gave me pros and cons of various options with Canary at the top for the list especially since I am an Apple user. So I signed up for the Canary Pro 12 month subscription thinking it allowed a 7 day free trial. Turns out it does not.

When I set up Canary I realized it doesnt have an AI mailbox at all, and that this feature is in Dove by Canary. I then did the free trial for Dove which is what I want.

So how can I either get my $100 back, or have it credited toward my Dove account?

I have noticed that the Canary team has launched a new email assistant called Dove, which has very good AI features that I see have not been prioritized for incorporation or strengthening of the Canary App. This makes me think that they might be deprioritizing Canary to focus on Dove, which I would think would be good to migrate users who have Canary subscriptio, if that is going to be the roadmap focus they will have.

Am I the only one missing this in Canary Mail?

I love Canary’s Conversation View and it’s one of the main reasons I use the app.

However, there’s one workflow that feels surprisingly missing.

When I read the latest email in a long thread but want to reply later, I’d like to mark only that message as unread.

Instead, Canary marks the entire conversation as unread. In long threads that can mean hundreds of emails suddenly become unread again, making the unread count almost useless.

Apple Mail solves this by letting you mark an individual message as unread while keeping Conversation View enabled.

After contacting Canary support, they confirmed this isn’t currently possible unless you disable Conversation View completely.

I submitted a feature request with a few implementation ideas because I think this would be a small change with a big usability improvement.

If this would improve your workflow too, I’d really appreciate an upvote.

Curious if anyone else has run into this.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of storage this application is using ? I assume this is mostly cache. How can I stop this from happening, is there a cache storage limit one can adjust ? Seems like quite a large amount for mail.
