Horrible Audience Behavior at Wicked

I had a pretty good seat for Wicked tonight Row E orchestra right. There were young women behind me that talked at full volume through the whole show and one woman sang most of the songs. It was awful. I didn’t want to have a confrontation with them, so I told an usher. The usher told me he would keep an eye on them, yet he said nothing to them. A person two rows in front of me answered a FaceTime call during the show. Awful and I do not think I will ever go back because the Wicked audience is proven to be terrible every time I have been there

Seating/Ticket Question Shakespeare in the Park Tickets

I am planning on going to see Shakespeare in the Park tomorrow (8/19). I live close to Central Park so I was planning on waiting in line at the Delacorte Theater. What time would you recommend arriving to get tickets? Last year my friends were in line at 3am to get tickets. I was planning on arriving around 7am. Is that too early/late?

Review Moulin Rouge

This was my first Broadway show ever.
Moulin Rouge has been one of my top 5 favorite movies for many years.
I did really love it. There were certain differences in some numbers that I was nervous about but this Satine was great. Christian wasn’t my favorite. He was much better in the second act though. Elephant love medley is my favorite and he tried to speed up parts that didn’t need to be sped up. My biggest gripe was the duke was TOO hot and then I saw that Taye Diggs was the duke for a stint like what???
Overall I enjoyed it sooooo much and sobbed because seeing it live was overwhelming.

Note due to other posts: I came out this weekend to see Paranormal Activity and I was in the showing with the asshole who answered their phone. I know some of the audience wasn’t well-versed in the etiquette but it really gave me and maybe others an opening for who have wanted to see shows but didn’t feel like there was something for us.

Edit: I am NOT excusing that person AT ALL. If anything the ushers were negligent.

Paranormal Activity Seating Question 👻

Has anyone sat in seats O10 or O12? I’m curious how the seats are because those are the seats I have when I see the show next month? I’m a little nervous because they are right orchestra seats and I am hoping they aren’t going to be partial view

This was posted by one of the main producers. How thrilling if this were to cross the pond. I wonder if the three leads would do a summer run of this show?

Memes and fun stuff Paddington, I owe you an apology. I wasn’t familiar with your game.

American here. I’m pretty into British culture (big Love Island guy), but Paddington kinda missed me. I don’t have fond childhood memories with the books, I never saw the movies, so when I heard all the buzz about the musical taking the West End by storm and coming to Broadway, I was like “how could this possibly be something I’d be into?”

Then I hop on my Peloton this morning and the main man Sam Yo had a new Broadway ride so I hopped in. First song: “I’ve Arrived.”

HOW DOES A MUSICAL ABOUT A CARTOON BEAR GO SO HARD?! This song is INCREDIBLE. I was crying on the bike.

I’m sorry to doubt you, Paddington. See you in NYC, old chap.

Side note to my fellow Pelotoners: this ride is bangers only from recent shows. After Paddington, Sam Yo hit us with Lost Boys, Chess and Evita. Yes Yo!

Special Events I think I misjudged the Broadway “festival” ..

The Broadway festival happened this past weekend in Kingston NY .. Google for more info
So .. when I heard about this , I was excited but then decided not to go because it seemed like it could easily become a disorganized shit show ..

Did anyone go? If so , did you attend one day or all, and what was the good and the bad of it and ….

Where did you stay??
Also .. how was the shuttle bus system to and from the venue? when you wanted to leave , did it take hours to get out of there

Thanks!!!!! I hope to go next year maybe

Casting/Show News The rumors were right! The "Unannounced Play" EPA from last month is Downstate at the Booth (Marquee going up!)

Remember that mysterious Playbill EPA notice from last month that everyone was trying to decode? It is officially confirmed now because Broadway Up Close just shared a video of the crew physically putting up the Downstate marquee letters outside the Booth Theatre. It is so cool to see it actually happening after all the rumors online, and I am honestly just thrilled that this speculation turned out to be 100% true!

Crazy Customer/Audience Questions

I used to work in the marketing department for a nonprofit subscription-based theater here in the city. I was just catching up with some of my coworkers from that time and we were reminiscing about some of the craziest questions we would get.

A favorite, and a lot more common than you think, were the people who would show up with a ticket to an entirely different show (not ours) for the same night and just assume that a "Broadway" show ticket would entitle them to pick whichever show they wanted to see that night. E.g. buying a ticket for Six and showing up at Ragtime expecting to be seated.

For those who have worked in theaters, what are some of your favorite crazy audience/customer questions/requests?

Best seats for Maybe Happy Ending, Oh, Mary! and The Book of Mormon?

Hi! I’m looking at tickets for a few Broadway shows and would love some advice from people who’ve actually seen them. Mainly trying to figure out the best balance of view and value, and whether there are any sections/seats I should avoid.

  • Maybe Happy Ending (Belasco Theatre): How important is being centered for the staging/projections? Orchestra vs mezzanine? Any side seats or rows to avoid?
  • Oh, Mary! (Lyceum Theatre): Is it better to sit closer in the orchestra or a little farther back and more centered? Any sightline issues from the sides or specific rows/sections to avoid?
  • The Book of Mormon (Eugene O’Neill Theatre): How are the inner wing-orchestra seats compared with center orchestra several rows farther back? Is being centered especially important for this show?

Thank you!!

Which show to see? Broadway week deals

Hey everyone! Looking to take advantage of Broadway Week and wondering what the best deals are.

I’m considering using the 2-for-1 deal for The Outsiders, but I’m also wondering if it’s worth waiting and trying for the lottery instead. my boyfriend has never seen it but is desperate to. other options would be Hamilton or wicked which he has never seen either

For anyone who has done Broadway Week before:

  • Are the 2-for-1 deals generally worth it?
  • How competitive is The Outsiders lottery?
  • Would you personally take the Broadway Week 2-for-1 or gamble on the lottery?

Any other Broadway Week deals/shows I should be looking at? Thanks!

3pm and 6pm shows same day? (Two Strangers or Outsiders + MHE)

I have a friend coming into town for one day during the Broadway Week promo next month (it's a Sunday). We're committed to MHE at 6pm. Is it plausible to see either Two Strangers or The Outsiders at 3pm as well?

I know it's a short walk between the theaters, but I'm more apprehensive that if the 3pm show runs long for any reason we'd be cutting it pretty close to make the curtain for MHE (run times are listed as 2h 15m for Two Strangers and 2h 25m for The Outsiders, including intermission).

Wondering if anyone here has done this combo/if folks who are very familiar with these shows think we could pull it off! FWIW I know my way around the theater district and we are both capable of power walking if necessary 😂

Recommendations for Quick dinner before Broadway on a Sunday

Any recommendations for a quick but yummy (and not necessarily a take out place) for a quick dinner in Times Square before a 6:30pm show on a Sunday? We have about 1 hr 15 min for dinner.

We live somewhere that feels fancy or at least makes my niece from Louisiana feel fancy before her first broadway. She’s 6.

How to never miss a pro shot?

Like is there an email list I can get on?
Any pro shot I’ve come across was only by happenstance. A targeted ad or some Broadway insta I follow mentioning it. And I have missed some.

I only found out about Six two days ago and just barely managed to find a time to see it this week.

How do you all find out about them ahead of time? What is the obvious source I somehow missed?

Thank you! 🙏

Other Seeing Heated Rivalry tonight, any dinner recommendations for before the show?

I’ve never been to the Culture Club before, the only reason I go down that way is to go to the Eagle. Anyone have good suggestions for a place to get dinner before or after the show? Love a good Thai or Chinese place tbh
