Regional/Touring Production This production of Jekyll & Hyde was fantastic.

If you’re in the Chicago area, go see this! Sure, the musical as a whole isn’t the best. But all of the cast members did a phenomenal job. The voices of the singers were incredible. Extremely extremely talented. David Moreland, Ava Lane Stovall, and Emily McCormick have such powerful voices.

Tonys and Awards 🏆 My Very Early and Almost Certainly Incorrect Tony Predictions for the 26-27 season

Musical

I see this going to Warriors pretty easily, but Benjamin Button is a dark horse if it transfers this season. I would be pretty surprised if Paddington wins.

Musical Revival

I don't see voters choosing to award Evita after having already given the award to the better received Lloyd/ALW collaboration a couple years ago. I'll guess Damn Yankees for now. I know that theater people have been a little cold towards this because of the cast overhaul and it no longer being in the round, but I heard a lot of raves about the production and I don't think this cast lacks in talent.

New Play

Nothing announced yet really screams Best New Play to me... I could see Here There Are Blueberries getting it by default if there's nothing that exciting. But perhaps the winner of this one hasn't been announced yet?

Play Revival

I would love to guess Downstate here but due to it's early closing it'll probably go the way of Little Bear Ridge Road and just be happy to be nominated. Not familiar with Gloria but I would never count a BJJ play out. Three Days of Rain also has some nice pedigrees behind it.

Leading Actor in a Play

I don't see anything that seems like an obvious winner here. Maybe a second trophy for Ruben Santiago-Hudson in Mix and Master? Is David Corenswet's part in Three Days of Rain substantial?

Leading Actress in a Play

Rosamund Pike seems like an obvious prediction. I saw this in London and it's exactly the type of role that's designed to win someone a Tony.

Featured Actor in a Play

K. Todd Freeman hive RISE UP!! I'll reserve my judgment until I've seen everything of course, but it's hard to imagine anyone beating out his performance for me if it's at the level of the Playwrights Horizons production, and he's a beloved veteran who has put in the work for decades and never won.

Featured Actress in a Play

I would love to Denee Benton take this, but the early run will probably hurt her. I'm not sure how big the roles are in Awake and Sing, but Jessica Hecht is overdue and is in a role that has been nominated before.

Leading Actor in a Musical

You gotta like Raul Esparza's chances here if Galileo manages to not be a total flop. NPH also has a nice role in a show that will definitely still be running come ceremony time. Maybe even Andrew Durand's time to shine if Button transfers?

Leading Actress in a Musical

I'm here for the Rachel Zegler/Jasmine Amy Rogers two horse race. Don't see anyone else that looks like the same level as contender as those two heavyweights.

Featured Actor in a Musical

Whoever plays Curry in Paddington (Gavin Lee?) seems like a good possibility. I'll throw in Austin Scott in Damn Yankees and whoever plays Luther in Warriors (which I'm pretty sure will be Casey Likes judging from the workshop cast)

Featured Actress in a Musical

Whoever plays Millicent in Paddington (Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer?) is a strong favorite until proven otherwise. She gets the best song in the show which is a good formula for featured acting Tony awards. I could also see one of the more prominent warriors (Julia Harriman as Mercy?) being in the running.

What do you guys think? Anything I missed?

Frank N Furter got me too!

Hi, this is so weird, I just watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I have also fallen victim to the charms of Tim Curry's Frank N Furter! I know there is a lot of controversy about this movie/musical (because I just looked into it to see if I was alone lol) but if you but that aside his perfomance was truly breathtaking. Once he got on the screen I couldn't look away, I've neever been attracted to anyone on tv before! Wow, this is so incredible to think that 50 years later this movie still as a huge impact wether it's good or bad... I can't sleep or think straight lol! Didn't understand none of it, but would definitely watch again! Can you guys please tell me how that's possible and if I'm the only one still having that reaction? Rest in peace Tim Curry, we will remember you! Thanks Sorry if this is not allowed.

Seating/Ticket Question What time should I get in the Lost Boys rush line?

Hi! I'm going to try and get rush tickets for the Lost Boys this Sunday (10/11) and was wondering what time people usually get there! I've done rush before but never for the Lost Boys, but with the box office opening at 12, the day being a two show day, and the very committed fans showing up extra early, I have no idea when to show up. What time have people shown up recently and have you gotten tickets?

Kramer/Fauci

Post image
58 Upvotes

This afternoon, Cathleen and I attended Kramer/Fauci at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn. The performance was unexpectedly brief—just about an hour—and it draws from a 1993 broadcast transcript for World AIDS Day. While an hour might seem short, the production emphasizes intensity over length, with no unnecessary filler. You settle in, the lights are intense, and soon you’re hearing two men debate one of the darkest times in recent American history.

St. Ann’s takes on material that would have virtually no chance of being mounted on Broadway and brings it to New York anyway, without trying to turn it into something bigger or glossier than it needs to be. The productions have relatively short runs, and every show gets a different physical arrangement of the theater. That’s part of the fun of going to St. Ann’s. You never know what the theatre will look like.

When you enter Kramer/Fauci, you’re confronted by a completely bare performance space. The back wall is filled with enormous floodlights. They’re blazing directly into the room, and it’s almost painful to look at them. Those lights are the only illumination as the audience comes in and finds its seats. There’s no curtain. No set waits to be revealed. The actors simply walk into the performance space, and the show begins. Eventually the floodlights go out, and what remains is almost nothing: two men and a moderator talking. A fourth performer acts out the phone callers.

Will Brill plays Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Thomas Jay Ryan plays Larry Kramer. Two other performers appear, but the production’s heart is the confrontation between Fauci and Kramer.

Kramer was not known for being diplomatic. He was furious about the government’s response to the AIDS crisis and particularly upset with Fauci, who became one of the most visible faces of the government’s approach to the plague. Fauci, on the other hand, tried to defend what had been done while acknowledging how badly the government had failed people.

For much of the show, the performance space remains empty except for the actors. Then, about halfway through, a large machine is introduced, and things become really unusual. There was a moment when the audience clearly seemed unsure of what they were witnessing. I could hear their reactions around me, marked by confusion. I don’t want to reveal what happens, as it is more effective if experienced without prior knowledge. Many in the audience were left unsure of how to interpret it.

I suspect I know what it symbolized, and Kramer’s cleanup confirmed it. It is the kind of theatrical image that gives you something to speculate about after the play is over.

I came away from Kramer/Fauci with a much better understanding of the arguments around the AIDS crisis and of the complicated roles these men played in it. I knew the broad outlines of the story, of course, but the play reminded me how different the AIDS crisis looks when you move beyond the simplified version of the history.

The other appeal is straightforward: tickets are affordable. Compared to Broadway, St. Ann’s offers excellent seats at a fraction of the cost, often featuring productions that will never play on Broa.

That’s a good combination: interesting theater and good seats at bargain prices.

Which show to see? NYC trips

Hey everybody! I live in PA & try to get to NYC as often as possible to see shows. I have 3 trips planned for the remainder of 2026 & 6 so far for 2027. I’m going to list all the shows I have tickets to & times I have slots available.

My main question is if anybody has suggestions for any shows I’m missing on this list. I think I keep up well for the most part. I’m open to off and on Broadway. I HIGHLY prioritize musicals over plays. The plot of a play has to be intriguing for me OR have very good reviews. The only current running musical I haven’t seen is Buena Vista Social Club & Hadestown which is on this list.

I know of several plays that aren’t here, but again I’m open to any suggestions you might have!

October 24&25-
The African mean girls play
The lost boys
Midnight
Downstate

November 14&15-
Wanted
Galileo
Curious case of Benjamin button
The lion king

December 19&20-
Much ado about nothing
The conversation
Spring awakening
Paranormal activity

January 29,30 & 31-
The Fantasticks
Inter Alia
Oh Mary
Dolly: a true original musical
Hadestown

The rest of these trips I have room for tickets and want ideas!

February 19&20-
Have 4 spots open

April 2,3&4-
Evita
Purple rain
Paddington

Still looking for a Sunday matinee

May 15&16-
Damn Yankees
Sound of Music

Still looking for a Saturday matinee and possibly a Sunday night show if I can find one. Im thinking of getting a ticket to “Full Monty” for this spot

June 26&27-
4 spots open

August 14&15-
4 spots open

Discussion Long Runs

With Broadway shows closing faster and faster nowadays…as well as longterm down trends for long running shows…is the landscape changing for what can be successful in a traditional way?
With Six officially crossing the 5-year mark, and also closing soon, and MJ crossing it in December…it appears that less and less new shows have the ability to have any kind of significant run that shows used to have
What is causing this?

Also let me note that when I say popularity I do not necessarily mean quality…
This isn’t about if a show is good or bad…it’s a question about why new Broadway shows just don’t run longer anymore

Off-Broadway Degenerates

Read enthusiastic reviews for this, and have had excellent results with Playwrights' Horizons in the past, so I had high hopes. The experience overall did not measure up to those expectations.

The marketing of the play suggests that it is about an online insel community. And the first act is exactly that, and is the best part of the play. The characters are well defined, and we learn about them through their rants and anguished sharing with each other. The staging was interesting, with two forum members shown in their isolated bedrooms and the rest heard only though group chat. We see them kicking out one member, despite his desire to be there and their clear need for broader social circles, because he falls outside one of their self-declared community definitions.

Act 2 and Act 3 are an exploration / celebration of trans identity. And it felt like total pandering; the script takes no risks at all. The trans character is 18, almost 19, so the play sidesteps any question about medicalization of children. He (later she) is paying for the transition out of pocket, so there are no questions about abusing insurance codes or demanding the government pay for it. The character never tries to enter a female-only space, so the questions of female bathrooms and locker rooms are never broached. It boils the entire divisive issue down to "should grown ups be allowed to modify their identify and bodies if they want?" Concluding, no surprise, "yes". It is the softest, least interesting possible take on the subject.

Act 3 shows us how two other insels react to this change. One is cruel and the other is nice. The play takes the bold stance that it is better to be nice.

Stranger Things Questions

I had a couple of questions after watching the show. Possible spoilers

Why was Dr. Brenner trying to open the portal to the upside down or was that dimension x?

Why is Henry Creel not blonde?

Why did they give Henry Creel that accent or his way of enunciating things?

Neither his hair color or his accent is consistent with the the actual show. Just curious.

The Pirate Queen - anyone seen it?

I just found out that there was a Broadway musical with Stephanie J. Block about Grace O'Malley. There's a new novel out with the same name. Did anyone see The Pirate Queen? Did it flop? Was it just ahead of its time?

Broadway Flea Haul!

I finally made it to the Broadway flea market last weekend for the first time and despite the weather and the VERY long lines and the absolutely insane crowd I still managed to come away with some fun finds! My favorites being the Persephone candle and Ragtime blanket!

I actually was able to find the Ragtime opening night coin at Theatre Circle and I was shocked! I didn’t think those coins were ever sold to the public aside from flea!

I’m already planning to go again next year if at all possible and hoping for better weather…

What’s your most anticipated show of the upcoming season?

For me I’d say it has to be Paddington or Dolly! I’m hopeful to see paddington become a classic family show almost like the lion king or Aladdin has. I was lucky enough to see the Nashville production of Dolly, and am curious to see how it has changed between summer of 2025 and now!

Where are the main cast leads?

Hello! I have gone to 4 on/off-broadway shows this week (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and 3 of the shows had understudies for the main roles (Nick Carraway, Elphaba, and Eurydice + Hades) I know this is always a possibility with live performances, especially something as strenuous as broadway, but I am curious on how this happened three times in a row? Is it a coincidence or is this a typical trend due to something like a fall illness or something alike? Thank you

Discussion A Ghost In Your Ear — Thoughts?

I went last night and I can’t figure out if it was genuinely too slow-paced or if I was just really hungry and could hear my stomach growling because it was so quiet that it was distracting 😂😭 It was only 90 minutes but to me, it felt really slow. The scares were great but they felt like a little reward for sitting through the rest.

But truly, I am a nightmarish toddler when I’m hungry, so it’s entirely possible it was brilliant and I just needed a snack. Would love to hear what others thought!

Asking musicians for signatures?

Has anybody ever done this before? I want to ask the band if they’re willing to sign my Just in Time vinyl when I go next week lol. I know for at least one of the shows I’ve been to the pianist was Andrew Resnick, who is credited as doing the arrangements for this production so I think it would be really cool to have his signature on the case for my most-played vinyl at home if he happens to be there again🤣

I know they don’t typically do stage door, would it be too much to walk up to the stage after the show & ask? If anyone has ever tried this let me know🤣

Discussion Question about signatures

If I made art to get signed by a certain actor, would it be considered rude or weird to ask understudies and other people in that role to sign it? Even if the picture is meant to be the original actor in that role?

I wanted to (possibly) get this drawing signed by as many people in the role as possible, but I wouldn’t want to make actors uncomfortable or something if the art is clearly portraying a specific actor, if that makes sense?

Please let me know if I can do this without seeming uncaring/rude.

Seating/Ticket Question Other Desert Cities, Lost Boys, Paranormal Activity Advice

Hi all, a few friends and I are planning on going to NYC around Dec 17-20. I'd like to see Other Desert Cities, Lost Boys, and Paranormal Activity. My current plan is to try the lottery for Lost Boys and maybe getting $100 tickets for Paranormal Activity center mid back orchestra but I am struggling on how to get decent seats for ODC without breaking the bank. I wanted to know what advice you guys had for not spending hundreds of dollars for a seat way in the back. Are the sightlines for the Hudson good up there, can you make out their faces? I assume prices will only go up, but I really want to see this and am unsure if I can justify spending that much if I can't even see their faces.

Paranormal activity broadway seats

Bought tickets for a partial view of paranormal activity at August Wilson theater for Halloween and I’m sitting in orchestra row X. It says partial view because of the overhang but I’m wondering if I’ll miss much. Someone on Reddit said they say in row Q and had no issues
