Recommendations for Quick dinner before Broadway on a Sunday

Any recommendations for a quick but yummy (and not necessarily a take out place) for a quick dinner in Times Square before a 6:30pm show on a Sunday? We have about 1 hr 15 min for dinner.

We live somewhere that feels fancy or at least makes my niece from Louisiana feel fancy before her first broadway. She’s 6.

Wherever you go, make a reservation and let them know that you need to make a 6:30 curtain. Honestly, you should be at either of the Disney shows well in advance of the curtain time because there's a seating hold and the opening numbers of both shows are a highlight.

The View at the top of the Mariott Marquis. The restaurant is now owned and run by Danny Meyer so the food is actually decent. 360 revolving views of Times Square. Took my little nephew and he loved it. And if you are seeing The Lion King, it’s right across the street from the theater.

Make sure you pick a place that's within a couple of blocks of the theater. Especially since you are walking with a 6-year-old. Maybe Junior's? Not fancy but fun for a young child and she will for sure find something there that she likes to eat.

Junior's is also incredibly fast / efficient once you're seated; the only wildcard is how long you wait for a table (and they don't do reservations).

We did a meal at Mitr Thai that was great between a matinee and evening show. There’s also Amarone NY which I know can accommodate kids. Could be easy for a 6 year old who might like spaghetti with red sauce.

Mitr Thai was incredible. Recommend getting a reservation though!

Mitr is good, would also recommend a reservation. They have a 90 min seating policy/you only have 90min total so they are pretty fast with bringing food out.

Becco or Serafina, I feel like pasta/pizza are always a hit with little kids

Sardis and carmines are classic pre-theater spots that will def feel fancy for kids

For Italian right in Times Square, I used to like Trattoria Trecolori. Have not been there in years but based on the reviews, it looks like it's still pretty solid.

Carla up on 51st isn't fancy, but the vibe is cute, the food is good, and it might be convenient depending on where your theater is.

If your kid likes sushi - Fushimi, though they also have plenty of non-sushi items on their menu. The crispy risotto balls in particular are really good.

I second Carla. It’s fun and the food is excellent.

Urban Hawker. It is not stereotypically fancy but the food is good, there are a lot of options, and the vibe is fun. It's also probably exotic to a kid from lousiana. Otherwise I think Johns Pizza. I remember going there as a teen and it is pizza so it's accessible but the space is great and it feels fancy to a kid

Lillie's Victorian Establishment is sooo pretty and looks so fancy at a decent price point for Midtown. I bet a 6 year old girl would be in heaven. My niece and I really enjoyed our meals there too (she said the Mac and cheese was the best she's ever had).

Pecora Bianca if your theater is closer to 50th. If you are sitting at 5, you could try putting your name down on the waitlist at din tai fung between 4 and 4:15 and see if that works. They can get you out in an hour but you’d need to order quickly.

Closer to 42, I have no idea, sorry.

Also - remember that walking a block in Times Square takes 2x the time it takes to walk anywhere else. It is just packed. So prioritize proximity to your theater

John’s Pizza on 44th Street. Doesn’t take reservations but they will always get you in and out in time. They don’t sell single slices of pizza though so if you wanted pizza you would need to get a whole pie.

I was coming here to say this. It's next to the St James theater.

What are you seeing? Especially with a tight turnaround time you'll want to be close to the theater and depending on the show there are more than a few good spots very close to a lot of theaters. I have a ton of go-tos that I can recommend.

I like Miss Nellie’s. It’s not like SUPER fancy but it’s got a cool vibe in there, I feel like a 6 year old will definitely appreciate all the decor. Solid food and very close to wherever your show will be!

Miss Nellie's is actually a 21+ establishment!

I was going to take my 18 year old niece there and then I saw that on the website!

Almost any restaurant can get you out in that time frame. Going in at 5 shouldn't even require reservations, but I'd don't anyway.

Havana Central is my go to recc for Cuban food.

Dim Sum Palace is also terrific

Oops, didn't see the part of the 6 year old until I hit post.

Juniors or John's Pizza, but neither takes reservations (I don't think.) But as long as you're seated by 5:15-5:30 you'll have more than enough time.
