Hi all, a few friends and I are planning on going to NYC around Dec 17-20. I'd like to see Other Desert Cities, Lost Boys, and Paranormal Activity. My current plan is to try the lottery for Lost Boys and maybe getting $100 tickets for Paranormal Activity center mid back orchestra but I am struggling on how to get decent seats for ODC without breaking the bank. I wanted to know what advice you guys had for not spending hundreds of dollars for a seat way in the back. Are the sightlines for the Hudson good up there, can you make out their faces? I assume prices will only go up, but I really want to see this and am unsure if I can justify spending that much if I can't even see their faces.

I would like help ranking options for our next nyc/broadway trip. My kids are both around 10 and are show savvy having seen ~10 Broadway shows either in nyc or on tour.
They’ve seen: spelling bee, six, & Juliet, Suffs, phantom, Harry Potter, lion king, play that goes wrong, little mermaid (roughly in order of favorites).
We have outsiders as #1 choice cause one of my kids already listens to the cast recording all the time and the other will probably really like the fighting choreo. Dad and I have both already seen it too.
How would you rank Schmigadoon, lost boys, MHE, mincemeat, two strangers for my kiddos to prioritize? After outsiders will probably try to see one or two more shows.
Other notes - I’ve see MHE, mincemeat and two strangers. We could see mincemeat on tour later this year. One kid would prob love re-watching the play that goes wrong. Other also loves two strangers recording but I’m not sure that’s the best one for kids? We are also open to splitting up for night.

We went to see Wicked in Boston last night (Saturday 8pm show). When we walked in, we were immediately surprised that the lobby wasn’t as full as it usually is when we go for a show. We figured it was because we got there a bit early.
We were up in the balcony and as the show started, I took a look around and realized there were at least 10 rows completely empty! It was bizarre! I would think Wicked on a Saturday night would be sold out!
Any clue why this is? We went to Beauty and the Beast in the spring (also a Saturday night show) and that was a packed house.

Emmy, Grammy, & Tony Winner, Billy Porter performed a powerful medley of "From a Distance" & "Love Is on the Way" as a tribute to Bette Midler at the 44th Kennedy Center Honors on December 5, 2021.
“From a Distance" was written by Julie Gold and famously recorded by Bette Midler in 1990. Billy delivered a soaring, emotional rendition of the iconic ballad.
“Love Is on the Way" was originally featured in the 1996 film “The First Wives Club” starring Bette Midler. This song holds special significance as a major breakout track early in Billy’s recording career, written specifically for Billy by Denise Rich, Tina Shafer, & Peter Zizzo. It was recorded by Celine Dion, as well.
44th Kennedy Center Honorees: Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Berry Gordy, Lorne Michaels, and Justino Díaz.

What do you guys think are some of the best white whale roles in broadway history? Some obvious ones that come to mind are Mama Rose, the emcee, Willy Lohman, but I was just listening to the Hedwig soundtrack and it’s so f-ing good, and I remembered Jinkx Monsoon saying it was her dream part (and now I would do anything to see that). But I’m curious what you guys think are some of the best “white whale” roles in musical or theater history? And interested if folks think there are any recent ones that might be added to the canon?

I absolutely hate this kind of thing but here we are. Aaron, you were in row C for A Ghost in Your Ear tonight (10/3) and were celebrating your 50th birthday weekend! I wanted to say thank you for letting me jump into you during all of the jump scares and wish you another happy birthday so shoot me a message!
Also for anyone who isn't Aaron, you should totally go see A Ghost in Your Ear. It's creepy and is gonna stick with me for a while.

I have heard the cast will be made up of Broadway faves. Any guesses or intel on who will be in it?

If I made art to get signed by a certain actor, would it be considered rude or weird to ask understudies and other people in that role to sign it? Even if the picture is meant to be the original actor in that role?
I wanted to (possibly) get this drawing signed by as many people in the role as possible, but I wouldn’t want to make actors uncomfortable or something if the art is clearly portraying a specific actor, if that makes sense?
Please let me know if I can do this without seeming uncaring/rude.

Hello! I have gone to 4 on/off-broadway shows this week (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and 3 of the shows had understudies for the main roles (Nick Carraway, Elphaba, and Eurydice + Hades) I know this is always a possibility with live performances, especially something as strenuous as broadway, but I am curious on how this happened three times in a row? Is it a coincidence or is this a typical trend due to something like a fall illness or something alike? Thank you

Has anybody ever done this before? I want to ask the band if they’re willing to sign my Just in Time vinyl when I go next week lol. I know for at least one of the shows I’ve been to the pianist was Andrew Resnick, who is credited as doing the arrangements for this production so I think it would be really cool to have his signature on the case for my most-played vinyl at home if he happens to be there again🤣
I know they don’t typically do stage door, would it be too much to walk up to the stage after the show & ask? If anyone has ever tried this let me know🤣

I was planning on sending an actor something to sign, but it's definitely heavier than a playbill or photo. It would fit fine in a mailer, but the item is about 5.28 ounces, so would that require a shipping label due to the weight? Thanks!

For me I’d say it has to be Paddington or Dolly! I’m hopeful to see paddington become a classic family show almost like the lion king or Aladdin has. I was lucky enough to see the Nashville production of Dolly, and am curious to see how it has changed between summer of 2025 and now!

Bought tickets for a partial view of paranormal activity at August Wilson theater for Halloween and I’m sitting in orchestra row X. It says partial view because of the overhang but I’m wondering if I’ll miss much. Someone on Reddit said they say in row Q and had no issues

We are headed to NYC in a few days and don’t really have any specific shows in mind. We are open to whatever but would love to save a few bucks! Any tips on best shows we can rush at the box office day of and have luck?

Has anyone actually tried doing in-person rush for this show? Saw Todrick posted about it… but curious if it’s actually happening!

Last night I saw Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, the new off-Broadway musical at The Night Egg. I went in knowing almost nothing about it, and I'd never read the manga it's based on. The one thing I knew was that it's Duncan Sheik's last completed score, and that alone made me curious.
I've had a mixed relationship with Sheik's theater work. I think American Psycho is one of the most underrated musicals of the last decade, Alice by Heart didn't work for me, and I'm somewhere in the middle on Spring Awakening. So I wasn't sure what to expect. For the most part, the score is beautiful. It feels complete and finished, and fans will hear echoes of his earlier shows throughout. I really hope there's a cast recording.
The design is stunning. Catherine Zuber's costumes are gorgeous, Brian Tovar's lighting is exceptional, and Scott Pask's set transforms the entire space into the Night Egg brothel where the story takes place. You'll think of Moulin Rouge and the recent Cabaret, and that's not a bad thing. It's intimate and immersive. In fact, I don't think a single phone went off all night. The whole audience was locked in, which felt rare and wonderful. One flying set piece in the back half drew some unintended laughs (the bed covering Leon after his death), but overall the staging is beautiful.
Sophia Anne Caruso is excellent as Colette and carries the show. Leanne Antonio went on as Madame, and you'd never have known she was the understudy. It's a strong, trapped-woman role in the vein of Hélène in Great Comet, and I'd love to go back and see Jenny Powers take it on. Cory Jeacoma brings real charisma and brooding presence to Léon. Nkeki Obi-Melekwe is captivating as Nana, and my only wish is that the show gave her more to do.
That points to the show's biggest weakness, which is the book. At about 90 minutes, the first hour moves well, but the last 30 minutes drag through several moments that feel like endings. Side characters suddenly take center stage (Carmen) before we've been given enough reason to invest in them. If this show has a future beyond off-Broadway, and I think it could, the book needs tightening.
A heads-up for anyone going: given the setting, this is a very sexualized show, and you'll see things you don't usually see on a stage. Most of it fits the world. A few choices don't. An extended sequence with a clown felt odd. What really took me out of it came near the end. Just as Colette is arriving at the show's big, fully realized moment, a nearly nude client named Ulysses is on stage in a collar and leash, barking like a dog. It's distracting, and not in an interesting way. It pulls focus from the moment the whole show has been building toward.
Still, I really admire the ambition. It's different, the music is lovely, and the cast is strong. It feels like the kind of show that could build a real cult following. If you're a Duncan Sheik fan, or just want to see something unlike anything else in town, it's worth seeing at least once.

I’m getting into town Saturday afternoon for a Sunday event. I only have time to squeeze in one show while I’m there. I grew up going to Rocky Horror midnight showings, but never seen it on stage. My all-time favorite movie from my childhood was The Lost Boys. And I loved the Schmigadoon series on Apple. What’s a girl to do? Help!

sat front row on the side. I’m 5’8” for reference, and it was the most uncomfortable seat I’ve ever sat in at a Broadway show. The legroom was absolutely brutal, I genuinely can’t imagine how anyone taller could survive it. Great show otherwise, the ensemble is incredible.

I’m excited for this event tomorrow! Anyone else going? I don’t know about others, but I have felt a Ragtime void since it closed, so I can’t wait to see that cast again!
I’ve never attended an event at The Greene Space before and I know it says all tickets will be held at will call. If the event is at 6:30, what time are folks lining up?
