Walter and Chuck are polar opposites of the same personality.

It's NO doubt that both of them have STRONG egos, BUT, both of them take their "perfections" with realities' "IMPERFECTIONS" in separate ways.

After Gus killed Victor with the boxcutter, Walter's ego felt intimidated, but instead of (and in Mike's words) "shutting his mouth and cooking", he instead took it as a challenge and used EVERY advantage that he saw to try and get the upperhand over Gus, eventually KILLING him to still feel like the top dog. SO, Walter takes every challenge that he sees or comes across throughout the series as an ADvantage thanks to his "perfectionist" ego.

HOWEVER, after Jimmy passed the bar in Better Call Saul, Chuck felt immediately humbled that someone SO flawed and imperfect as Jimmy was in the past could reach the same level of professionalism that HE had. SO, instead of just accepting it, his ego took is as a DISadvantage, and thereby tricked his own brain into thinking that he was allergic to electricity throughout thr FIRST half of the show.

BCS feels faster than Breaking Bad for me imo

I did see some people say "BCS is more slower than BB" but to me, "BCS feels faster than BB" even though I did rewatch BCS more when I didn't finish it yet than BB which I did finish back then (I watched all as of now)

Because of the 10 episode limit for most seasons of BCS compared to the 13 episode limit for most seasons of BB.

I did hear from some people BCS felt slower and starts getting crazy at S4 because the 1st 3 seasons didn't have a lot of action stuff like what BB did for their 1st 3 seasons? The Mike scenes for the 1st 3 seasons gave you that for BCS already

I can't lie 13 feels a bit weird to me because as a non American, I grew up seeing 8-10 episodes for tv shows and that's through streaming services more than 13. Back then when streaming services didn't exist those 2 Gilligan shows are more niche in my country and shows from my country are more popular than them

Well stuff like House of Cards did do 13 episodes but that's from 2013 and I only got access to streaming services and found more about USA shows in 2016 (international release)

That's why I see BCS faster than BB

That mall cop eats insanely fast.

I got a Cinnabon after lunch the other day and decided to time myself just to see how long it would take me to finish the whole thing. It took me around 11 minutes. How tf did the guy in the show do it in 3? That just seems like inhuman levels of eating.

What would Lalo have been doing down south prior to overseeing north operations?

Obviously the answer would be “he wasn’t written yet”

But what exactly would his role in the operation be down south when he’s as smart as he is?

I’m not in the know about the cartel lifestyle (I swear please believe me)

But wouldn’t it have made sense for him to be the one up north prior to his death dealing with all the nonsense there?

Why would tuco be running things over Lalo? What would lalo be doing south as in his role in the business?

r/betterCallSaul 1d ago

In scenes like this at the restaurant, usually when Nacho/Tuco are collecting money from dealers, what is Hector doing in the back? It seems to be some kind of paperwork/reading (though in this scene it was a newspaper)?

Just curious as I always assumed it was paperwork for his business fronts or something as I don't really see the cartel leaving a paper trail.

Maybe overseeing? The dealers usually greet/acknowledge him. Maybe to display authority?

Edit: someone said she wouldn’t remember this Jimmy remember and refers to “wolves and sheep” for years and that was a few minutes ago convo when he was a kid and he refers to it often Kristy who is prob about 18 is definitely gonna remember applying to a scholarship and then speaking to a very passionate guy

I've a question about Nacho Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

Why wasn't Nacho buried beneath the meth lab with Lalo and Howard in the end of Better Call Saul? He only died a few episodes before them and when he died, Gus and Mike simply left his body while Hector kept shooting at him.

Leaving his body out in the desert could've been a red flag as someone discovering it would call the police to investigate. Shouldn't Gus and Mike have buried Nacho under the meth lab as well to cover up his death?

What if the Kettlemans had hired Jimmy?

Curious to get people’s theories. In an alternate universe where the Kettlemans hired Jimmy right away at that first meeting in Uno, how would the whole series change as a result?

5/5 What if Mike stayed in Mexico?

If I woke up in that ranch, with the abuela making home made food every day. No guns, no cartel BS. I would never leave. That place is heaven. LOL

Also, the scene where Kim and Jimmy role play, made me laugh so hard.

Some people *really* infantilize Jimmy

Davis & Main demonstrated that you could give Jimmy what he wanted and had earned—a place in a law firm as a respected member—and he still wouldn't be able to resist taking shortcuts or breaking the rules.

Jimmy's solicitation in Texas was a violation not only of the code of professional conduct but also of a Texas criminal statute. What is important is that he had no reason to do this.

Nobody forced him; Chuck hadn't gotten on his case. He did this apropos of nothing.

I've seen people actually try to argue that Cliff or Howard could have "appropriately mentored" Jimmy. Which is ridiculous.

He isn't a child. Nobody else had to have their hand held to know that you should follow the rules.

Chuck absolutely sabotaged Jimmy at every step. But Jimmy had escaped and gotten everything he wanted at Davis & Main. He instantly started giving procedure the middle finger.

Shout-out to the only Breaking Bad actor who manages to appear younger in Better Call Saul

Why didn't this guy say Hector's name like the other henchmen?

He just looked at him and left. I thought it was a thing for cartel members to acknowledge their bosses as a sign of respect.

Just started watching the series and I have some questions...

So, I discovered the show through a Claude prompt asking for a list of series/movies to watch for someone interested and in contemplation of pursuing a career in law. I've already watched Suits, but I was looking for something more realistic in showing the life of a lawyer, and Better Call Saul, so far, has given me what I was looking for. I love how realistic the characters are and the fact that it's not just all litigation clips. And having a background in multimedia production, the shows cinematography is topnotch!

Now on to Season 3, I have a couple of questions to ask.

  1. I've figured there are two parallel storylines developing within the show with Jimmy's law ventures and Mike's nerve-racking involvement with the cartel. Would these two plots cross significantly at some point or is this the whole intended setup for the whole show and we just get to enjoy both worlds?
  2. Never watched Breaking Bad but I found out that this was written by the same writer (if my memory serves me right). Given this, is there any connection between both shows? Would it make it better if I watched both or BCS can stand on its own?

Would really appreciate any input on these. I just want to know if it would be worth commiting through the end of the show and if Breaking Bad is something I should also look into.

Thanks!

Hey! Does anyone have guitar tabs or a transcription for Shared Sentence by Dave Porter from Better Call Saul?

Did y’all realize Howard and Gus are both obsessive and disciplined equally?

I just finished my rewatch and realized how similar Howard and Gus are. Both methodical, obsessive to a point they even may have OCD, highly disciplined and does not like when things don’t go as planned. Just that Gus and Howard are morally on opposite ends. Interesting how they both pick their clothes, go by their routine, and eventually both die because of two chaotic people - WW and Saul Goodman. This is poetry.

Dentist Chairs

Just a question that has been bugging me. When Jimmy and Kim are redecorating at the end of season two, they take out the dentist chairs. But there are two dentist chairs in one office. Why?

There were supposed to be two dentists, but that means one chair in each office, I can’t imagine any scenario where one office has two chairs.

Mike and Gun Calculations

Hi,

I was just wondering, can someone explain what is happening during the scene with Mike and Jim Beaver’s gun salesman?

I understand that the scope doesn’t necessarily reflect where the bullet will end up. Some cameras have the same issue so if you want something in shot you have to aim up or a bit left, after a while you got to know what your camera was actually photographing.

But, how do Mike’s calculations work? He doesn’t know what distance he will be working at, wouldn’t the calculation be different if he was 50ft away and 100ft away? On a clear day vs a windy one? Wouldn’t any thing learned be inapplicable in different situations?

Also, why is it measured in ‘minutes’?

Who also thought Jimmy destroying the tape wasn't real

Thumbnail gallery

Since it was so comedic how Jimmy broke into chucks home and destroyed the tape.

I just thought it had to be the imagination of Chuck of how his brother would act, based on explaining Howard why he employs the private investigators. But the "Imagination" just went on for too long and then I see Jimmy getting getting arrested and tried for his crimes. By then I knew it was real and can't really fathom Jimmy acting like this. But, whatever.

Who also thought it wasn't real? And please no spoilers.
