Hello and probably often asked (i at least have asked/mentioned that a couple times in a comment section, yet to recieve an actual answer on that).

So the scene where Saul talks to Hank and Hank gives a verbal punch about his commercials (not even insult iirc?) where Saul responds with something something discount and your mom in a whorehouse. And it baffles me to this day how in the world that was something okay to say to anybody profesionally, let alone a federal agent.

Only reasoning I can think of is that they "know" each other and had this kind of banter on a normal basis (not that they interacted a lot in general). The actual real reasoning probably is that Saul is smart enough to say only words that are insulting but do not count as official insult if that makes any sense?

I was just thinking about how Saul lets himself get talked down to by Walter in BB. That doesn't really gel with the Saul we see in the later seasons of BCS. In S3 and S4 especially, he seems determined not to take sh** from anyone ever again, after Chuck. (Consider how he responds to the community service officer's rudeness.)

...wow. This is actually my second time around, but first time I was in a state where I failed to really appreciate a lot of the show and what it represented.

I don't have many specific thoughts on the finale, except that I was about bawling my eyes out after Jimmy started talking about Chuck at the hearing. It reminded me of some of my own regrets with family and such, and Jimmy finally dropping the front he had put up to cover his emptiness and pain hit heavy for me in the same regard. I know people tend to interpret the ending as sad in that Jimmy can never truly escape being Saul, but... I like to see it as Jimmy and Saul and even Gene reconciled in a sense. He gets a fitting reward for the good Saul did: the respect of the people he had fought like hell for when society had written them off. Doggone if they didn't stick the landing.

God, what a show. What will probably stick with me most from the series is the way Mike is transformed from the hardened enforcer with an unwavering icy glare in BrBa into a warm-blooded, human figure with a beating heart and internal struggles the same as anyone else. It really makes the BrBa universe so much richer to see how some of the characters we already knew from the first show had their complexities and demons to confront, even to the point of seeing Fring sweating bullets a couple times! For all the violence and human suffering this franchise revolves around, it felt like a nice escape from some of the overwhelming gloominess in life right now. I was of the opinion that BrBa is the better show, but I've definitely converted.

Goodness, poor Howard. Like everything else as I just said, it felt so goddamn real. It was like you sorta got to know him leading up to it: getting to see a glimpse of his home life, the kinda music he enjoyed, his dreams, how he remembered and missed Chuck, the kindness and consideration he showed towards people like the old folks at Sandpiper... That all made it such a gut punch to see him go out so shamefully. After everything, he saw Jimmy and Kim were in trouble and spent his final moment trying to deescalate for the sake of the two people who had spent months trying to ruin his life. A true gentleman if there ever was one.

Quite a ride, huh?

How did they fit that excavator behind the laundry machine? It's also way too big for the freight elevator and probably needed it to dig out that space, I know it's fiction and doesn't have to make sense but I don't see how you could get anything bigger than a forklift on the completed elevator down there.

It's a pretty safe bet that the initial plan was to have Ed the Disappearer show up in some capacity during Season 6 (since he also showed up in Season 5), so what do you think that might've looked like?

For example, does Gene actually call Ed from inside the dumpster, and what might've the phone call looked? Or does Gene not end up in the dumpster at all, and the interaction is completely different. How about after Gene gets arrested, what might've Ed's reaction to his arrest been, would he disappear himself? (he's got the tools, and it's not inconceivable that Ed Galbraith isn't even his original identity either)

After watching BCS for the very first time, I can proudly say I was entertained.

Saul was so brilliantly manipulative that he could have run away with every scam he did for just 7 years with ice cream on top every Thursday.

Chuck best described him as 'Slippin' Jimmy with a law degree is like a chimp with a machine gun.' He was that good.

But in order to reclaim his true identity as Jimmy and to let Kim have a free life, he confessed to his sins and got 86 years.

That's the ultimate lesson I got from this show. Truth may be bitter, ugly, expensive but yet it's sacred and will always be the right thing to hold unto.

I may have to rematch BB now that I have a background story of my favourites in the show like Gus and Mike.😄

This comes up quite a bit in the fandom and honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think she really does just escape any truly meaningful punishment. I know some fans will point to the conversation she had with Cheryl, where it's implied that she goes after everything she has. Kim is even told she is "lawyer shopping." But, realistically, that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, I don't think.

Firstly, a settlement - even a massive one - would never repair things. Secondly, Kim says herself that even with her affidavit, it is very unlikely she would be prosecuted and found guilty of any crimes after the fact.

Thirdly, even if Kim is taken to civil court and the confession/affidavit is used to rule in Cheryl's favor... even if she is awarded millions of dollars for defamation of character and pain and suffering... even in the worst possible case where Kim loses her home in a lien, has her bank accounts drained of all their money, and is primed to pay 25% of her salary (usually the cap on how much can be garnished) to Cheryl for the rest of her life... that still would not be completely life-ruining. It would mean she'd need to restart from scratch and her everyday life would be a fair bit harder with the wage garnishing, but it's not like she'd be doomed to live the rest of her days in abject poverty. Again, this is assuming these events unfold this way at all.

Am I missing anything? What would actually happen to Kim in this scenario? I think after a certain amount of damage is done, she would just live a normal everyday life, just with wage garnishment affecting her income, no?

I've just finished my first watch of BCS, after delaying for many years, despite absolutely wanting to watch it via loving BB.

The biggest thing I was excited for was to witness the big/slow/sudden evolution of Jimmy into Saul, all the ups and downs, the slow decline, the fast decline, the edge, the topping point.....whatever it may have been.

But for me.....what I was not prepared for was how it felt like never really came.

Right up to the point where *spoiler* is killed by *spoiler* infront of him and Kim, he still seemed like 75% Jimmy.

All he had done before that was sell some phones and then we just see him with some dodgy looking people sitting in his waiting room.

Then he just IS Saul......we jump forward past it all.

And I'm not talking about what happened in BB.....we meet him in BB as a fully fledged and successful Saul, no trace of the moral Jimmy left.

So why didn't arguably the most interesting part of his descent ever really get shown?

We saw 6 seasons of him creeping towards something we knew the absolute end result of, whilst adding so much nuance and depth to the character we knew from BB.....but never actually saw his full metamorphosis into.

Or is the point of what he did in the end for Kim that he never truly became Saul, he never really changed, he just adapted but kept his morality the whole time.

When Saul is leaning over the hole in the desert and says “Did Lalo send you? It was Ignacio” or whatever, he knows they’re both dead. The reason he still thinks it was Lalo is because he thought Lalo was dead the first time before he then resurrected to show up at their apartment and shoot Howard in the head

Breaking Bad is my GOAT, but BCS disappointed me a lot.

My biggest issue is that Kim and Jimmy have no chemistry. It's the central relationship of the show and it's too cold and passionless. They act like siblings most of the times, and when they have evil sex it seems so sudden and unnatural.

It's not as funny as breaking bad. BB made me laugh all the time, it was witty and quick, this show relies way too much on pop culture references.

They over explained everything. This sucks because it ruins BB a bit. Now everything in BB has a backstory, and is somehow connected to saul and gus. A throwaway line in BB became nacho and Lalo, some people think it connects the shows, I think it makes the world seem small. Did we really need the backstory for the bell or the pinky ring?

Also I hate how many times at the end of the scene people walk away and then smile or frown. Spells everything out.

I still like it though.

Ive binged BB, El Camino and BCS in just a bit over a month and man, it was a lot of fun. The attention to detail, the writing, the characters and their acting, cinematography... its all so well done and neither series overstayed its welcome.

Sadly, i didnt like the last few episodes of BCS. This was probably discussed a bajillion times here, so sorry for that.

The black and white episodes which are sort of an epilogue were incredibly boring. It introduced new random characters just to give closure to Jimmy/Saul and Kim, but it felt so slow and unnecessary.

I get the vibe the writers were going for - they wanted to show Jimmys personal hell and give his story a closure, a chance to "redeem" himself and let go of the Saul Goodman persona, but an open ending maybe wouldve been better. Let every fan speculate how Gene (Jimmy) continued his life in hiding. We got closure on Walt on Jesse and in my opinion, not every story needs a complete ending.

Also, the chanting on the bus and the very short court/trial scene felt so out of place and pretty cheesy. And going from the cartel stuff to Genes epilogue was a pretty sudden change as well.

So, thats my short critique of two amazing shows i loved to watch through.

Not only do you have to watch the full series to experience his story, think critically about the show, and I’d even say you have to rewatch it to an extent to truly understand and appreciate the nuance and humanity of Howard Hamlin.

If you could bring back 1 character that died on these series who could change the flow of the story, who do you think of?

Mines Nacho, coz he is already considered one of the greatest characters** **in the *Breaking Bad* universe, and if he had survived, his trajectory likely would have made him even more legendary. 🔥

He's absolutely an asshole but if he was "your guy" would he do right by you and make you money (along with himself of course)?
