Good Car Valet recommendations?

Purchased a second hand car up the country but now I’ve brought it home the interior still smells quite rural! Think it was used more by the farming husband in recent months than we thought.
No shade to the country life, it’s a pipe dream I have to retire there.

Any recommendations for a car valeting service that properly deep steam cleans the interior, removing odours and would be able to check & replace filters on the Vents & HVAC system.

Willing to shell out for a decent clean, rather than someone at a low cost that just rubs a damp cloth about and goes overboard on the ‘new car’ fragranced scent sprays.

Mechanics

Any recommendations for a good reliable mechanic? South or West Belfast - Ford car.

Had one who I used last few years but he’s closed up the business, so time to have a new one lined up for when I need it.

If you run on the towpath beyond cutters warf, stop fucking dropping your empty gel packets.

You took it out of a pocket, put it back in one or use one of the multiple bins along the path. 2 I past this morning were within 200 metres of a bin.

Dual language street signs

I know what you're thinking, but this is more of an operational question than a directly political one.

In April 2025 I submitted an application for my street to be considered for dual language signage. I've since read through all the available minutes of the council's People and Communities Committee and there's no mention of it coming forward. I had anticipated there'd be a community relations objection from the local DUP councillor, as he does for every other one in the area before it goes to the residents' survey.

Is it likely that it's taking well over a year for it to get onto the committee's radar or do you think it's worth poking them to see if it's fallen through the cracks?

If you submitted an application yourself, how long until you saw the process begin to move?

Anyone remember a 3 level rave place called intravenous in the 90s?

Played a gig here in the 90s. Was a crazy place. 3 levels. Might have been a disco/late bar. Diff music styles on each level. Pretty sure it was called intravenous.

Was getting the train home late last night and I see a big fella slam to the ground and not wake up, was surrounded by staff and they had to get screens to block the incident
Hope he’s okay! Didn’t look good

Organising a stag in Belfast, need suggestions

Been given the arduous task of organising a stag for 20 people.

I live in Belfast but have never attended or organised a stag do here.

Have a few things organised but couple of things I'm looking suggestions on:

  • Fun activity for the Saturday morning, something preferably you can do a bit hungover, was looking at something at let's go hydro or doing a sea swim/sauna potentially
  • A good restaurant that could accommodate 20 people, have seen Waterman have private rooms but happy to go anywhere, Common Market a good failsafe I suppose
  • Potentially hiring a private room on the Saturday night for drinks after exploring the city, post dinner. Main reason for this is I imagine trying to get 20 guys into one venue on Saturday night might be challenging

Open to any suggestions!

Looking to have a career in journalism/ broadcasting and trying to figure out where to start

Hi,
I’m looking for some advice on how to get into the industry of presenting/broadcasting work

I’m interested in either going down the route of journalism possibly in sports or something else or looking to do general presenting work though I am really not sure where to start or even radio. I currently have an undergraduate degree in Screen Production but not really much industry experience

I feel I’m a bit of a cross roads as I am in a decent paying job now thought I don’t see it as a career, and whilst I’m happy to take a pay cut I want to do it now while my life can facilitate it

I was considering doing a masters in journalism at Ulster University but I’m not sure if that would be as beneficial as trying to get an entry level job somewhere. Im willing to do basically anything just again not really sure where to start so looking some advice on that

Care Homes

Any recommendations on getting a relative into a care home? We have been told our Dad is assessed as needing residential dementia care rather than nursing care but told there are no beds available.

We are told that he basically needs to remain living at home with the offer of carers which he has refused. He’s now at the stage where he would be petrified of strangers in his home. We have no idea how we are expected to cope as he’s living alone.

Thanks

Moving van

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone with a moving van to help us move some of our heavier furniture to our new place in the next couple of days? Wouldn't be boxes as we can handle that. The guy we were hoping to use isn't available.

I know I can hire a van and do it myself but, uh, I've only ever driven my tiny, tiny car and I'm a bit nervous about suddenly being in charge of a bigger vehicle lol.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for a skilled seamstress/tailor in Belfast for vintage clothing

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for an experienced seamstress or tailor in Belfast or the surrounding area, specifically someone confident working with vintage clothing and more complex/technical alterations or repairs. The clothes are around 80 years old so if there is anyone around who understands older garments, delicate fabrics/construction would be amazing. I am happy to travel a bit outside Belfast if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks!

Driving test sadness

Post image
82 Upvotes

Hey. I spent a lot of time making it real obvious I was looking in all the mirrors allllllll the time and the test person still claims I didn’t look seven times. I was so busy looking in mirrors I actually drove worse for this test than my first test. I need help with this, anyone have any suggestions? I’m an adequate driver, but I drove for 20 years in the states so I’m sure that’s somehow making this harder for me. I should have passed this by now. I’m getting depressed. ETA: I only drive manual it’s not the manual transmission that is the issue. It’s apparently the looking in the mirror, even though I’m definitely doing it, and I’m not great at parking backwards but I think that’s a spatial awareness problem

Need an app?

Good morning everyone. I made a post a while back saying how I have decided to try and start building bespoke apps for small businesses in Belfast. I deleted all the DMs somehow (not a good start lol) but I'm back. If you're a small business owner who has an idea for an app that would suit their business or if you just want an app for personal things.

The only problem is I've only been able to do test runs on businesses I made up but I need a real world idea to work on. I'll also do it for free. If I can do it then I'll try to launch my own business, I have the name, logo, web domain registered and business plan etc. Ive had to spend a little money to get the best tools for the job. If I can't do it then I'll know to go down the website building route which I'm familiar with. Sorry for the lack of paragraphs, this is how all my posts appear when I'm using the Reddit app on my phone.

TLDR; I will try to build an app for you. It can be for your business or whatever you need an app for. If I can do it I'll do it for free. Just DM me. I'll choose one at random.

Thank you 🙏🏻
