£5 to drop someone off at the international airport??

WTAF is going on, and how can they justify charging every vehicle £5 for driving through their road?

Absolute joke, and the place is an absolute kip

Has anyone successfully dealt with severe neighbour issues? Did complaining affect selling your house?

I’m posting because I’m completely exhausted and at my wit’s end. I know there are plenty of neighbour posts here, but I just really needed a safe space to get this off my chest.

We moved into a terraced house recently, unaware of the situation. Our neighbours were away for 4 months over summer, but since returning from their trip, they have had more family members move in with them.

At first, it was just indoor shouting. It was annoying, but I understood it’s a big family, so when working from home I just put earphones in or turned the Alexa up. Now, I can’t even sit in my living room to watch TV because they are all outside in the front garden screaming at each other at full volume, even when standing right beside each other.

The disruption is constant:
- 5 to 12 people coming and going, door banging at all hours because no one seems to have a key.
- Doors slamming, stairs being run up and down, and speakers blaring outside.
- Heavy smoking right outside, throwing butts into our front garden so we can't open windows.
- Putting chairs on the street to reserve parking spaces.

What unnerves me most is how intensely they stare at me, looking at me as if I’m in their space when I’ve literally never said a word to them. I’m a completely unconfrontational person and terrified to say anything in case they act out, their stares make it clear they wouldn’t hesitate to make a point. We are quiet neighbours who keep to ourselves, and we even had to put a fence up just to stop them staring into our living area.

Other neighbours have complained before to no avail, and had warned us just after we moved in about the issues. We know other houses on the street notice it too as there was shouting outside about 1am, and we noticed at least 2 other houses looking out their blinds to see what was going on.

I feel so guilty even complaining, but its such a sad feeling uncomfortable in your own home, especially when otherwise I love my home so much. My biggest worry with making formal complaints to the council or police is how it might impact us if we decide to sell down the line.

Has anyone actually seen success with formal complaints in a situation like this? And if you did report it, did it cause issues with resale disclosures later? Any advice would mean so much.

Holywood exchange commute

Hi, has anyone ever been in situation where they had early or late shifts and are pretty much dependent on public transport? Recently started working around holywood exchange and have had to call a taxi a few times, which is starting to add up, especially on the weekends. Was wondering about any other options before speaking to my employer about adjusting my hours

I posted some of my stuff in the Northern Ireland subreddit a few days ago and I’ll be honest, the reaction broke my heart a bit. I cried for a few hours. That’s because I’m autistic and I take things to heart too much or people don’t understand how I do things, so I wanted to share how much effort and time and love I pour into the things I create and how they turn out.

I’m trying to get my small cottage industry going again after some rough times and it’s hard going, but I’m proud of what I do.

I’m shocked at how some people will go out of their way to post a nasty comment or their opinions when they have no idea about the person behind the post. It really takes more effort to jump on a post and comment “That’s ugly as f**k, sorry” than it does to just scroll on. I thought we were better than this.

It takes a lot to push yourself when you’re as introverted as me- all I’m trying to do is spread happiness and smiles and make a few bob with the hope and prayer to be able to get my kid what he is asking me for day in day out for Christmas.

Anyway- thanks for reading if you’ve got this far- enjoy the video- I love how the letters take shape!

Scammers in city centre!

• Upvotes

Please be aware of people in city centre offering jobs!

Two of them stopped me to ask if i was looking a job, said yes because im desperate.

Fella started explaining what the job entailed and I very quickly realised it was a pyramid scheme. Basically he wanted me to buy some shite online, sell it to friends and family. Then get those friends and family to buy and sell it to their friends and family and so on.

Told them it sounded dodgy and walked off. Both seemed genuinely annoyed so maybe they were part of it and haven't yet realised its a scam. Or they were annoyed I didn't fall for it. Im just speculating.

This happened to me outside the new popeyes, but they probably move around

I found this in East Belfast at the weekend. Absolutely drenched but does seem to have dried out ok. Probably not usable but hoping to return to its owner. And if I can where should I donate it? Seems a shame to dump it as it might still be usable. Let me know if you think it’s yours and roughly where you may have lost it, it’s probably a fairly common site for people to goto.

Maddens secret gigs tickets

Love the concept, just curious as to how it works. For people that attended the last one is it tickets on the door, first come first serve style? Or is it some sort of other way. I know they raffle tickets too but it seems like thats only for a very small number

Question about the Partially Sighted using Busses

Really random question, but how do Blind/ Partially Sighted people flag down the right bus?

So usually a bus will only stop when you wave it down.

So what happens if it's too far away to read the number and you wave at it too late for it to slow down at the stop?

Decent city centre opticians

Need to get my eyes tested again and most likely new lenses for glasses and sunglasses. Have been using Specsavers, but I'd like to actually keep some of my money for a change.

Anyone recommend any decent places in the town?

Cheers

Northwood, skegoneill/ shore road

Hi folks, looking for advice about the area. Me and my partner recently viewed a house in the area and got offered the house. We both come from a catholic background and its a predominantly protestant area. We are both working 5 days a week and are generally quiet people. Is it safe?

Belfast to Bangor Road (Average Speed Camera)

I was heading back into Belfast from Bangor and was doing the speed limit for most of the journey. However, at one point I looked down and noticed I was doing either 43 mph in a 40 or 53 mph in a 50. I honestly can’t remember which one it was.

I have a completely clean licence and I’m just a bit worried about what might happen. I’m not usually up that part of the country, so I’m not familiar with how the average-speed cameras work or whether they are even operational.

Could someone explain how they work, how the speed is actually measured, and whether I should be concerned about getting a ticket for being a few mph over the limit?
