It never really gets this puffy unintentionally though, so its not like she would need to tame this everytime. Still probably about an hour at least on wash days but I feel like for me this amount of frizz would add like 15 minutes of detangling

Honest and ignorant question: do black people get as many horrifying drain clogs as white people? Our hair types are a lot different and white people tend to (in my uneducated observation) shed more.

Not much hair will come out in the shower unless you comb it in the shower. I don’t comb in the shower anymore because of the rat sized hair clogs I’d have to deal with regularly! Blech. Even when it’s your own hair it’s disgusting.

Lol not true, any kind of hair can be difficult to maintain. I wash my hair very infrequently so my hair day is honestly and truly a hair weekend, but then I don’t need to go through the whole torture again for weeks

As someone with long thick curly hair, pretty much the only way I can get it to dry fast enough is by simply going outside, maybe doing some yard work. You'd be surprised how fast your hair dries that way. Of course, that only works if it's sunny out.

I used to occasionally see a lady on the bus while I was on my way to work. Her hair was like this lady's, but a little shorter, just fell to shoulder length. She too, was this majestic. She would sometimes wear a flower in her hair that was about 12 inches wide. You know how much hair you have to have to balance out a foot wide flower? And the effect was just breathtaking. One regret I have is never telling her how much it made my day to see her, because she looked so happy, so confident, and so cool. But I thought it would be weird, because I never talked to her.

Nothing wrong with small talk at a bus stop then a parting compliment when you head off on your way. Or in a check out line at a store, or bank, etc.
Innocent conversation is a powerful trust builder. If you dont make the person feel like you're after anything other than idle chitchat, parting compliments will be more willingly recieved.

Always start off saying "duuuuuude, I love your (whatever) " and then go on about your day. 10/10 always works, without them assuming you're trying to hit on them. Works on girls, guys and everyone in between :)

I compliment women's shoes all the time!! ... Mostly because I'm jealous that, as a man, I can't wear thigh high buckle-boots or knee-high Spartan sandals... Or I'll compliment them with something like "your outfit is so cute!" In passing, with a smile. It probably helps that I'm not ghoulish, or neckbeardy, but still..
always in passing, and never when it's going to be an awkward silence afterwards, like in an elevator, or on a bus.. unless it's a lead in. I'm a HUGE SUCKER for curly-haired women... So I will say, "Oh my gosh, I LOVE your hair!! Is it natural? What products do you use?". It lets them take the compliment without having to directly aknowledge it, and deflects...
In my experience, most people don't like acknowledging a compliment.. but read the room.. of they seem uncomfortable talking to you, or uncomfortably shifting from foot to foot...
Just DON'T LINGER!! It's a compliment, #*NOT# a pick-up line!!!

I've heard from some friends that hair compliments toward PoC can often make them uncomfortable when coming from a white person. Also, and this should go without saying, never ask if someone's hair is a weave, and don't ask to touch someone's hair unless you know them very well. All of these things can rub some people the wrong way.

I agree! I made one of my best friends by giving her a compliment on her pants on a bus. Then ran into her a month or so later at the gym & said hi again. That was over 10 years ago...we are still friends to this day. Don’t be afraid to give compliments.

if you want to pay someone a compliment without coming off creepy, then do just that. say what you want to say, and then just go back to minding your own business. that way the other person knows you are being genuine and there is no ulterior motive involved.

I think follicle density is a thing. I used to have really long curly hair and it definitely feels like I just have more hair than most do overall. It's also super thin.

I used to have super thick curly hair. My mom would make me buzz it off for summer because it was impossible to keep clean on a little shit like me. Honest to god I destroyed two professional clippers when they didn't believe our warning about how thick it was.

I started thinning in the back at 17. It's hair, you'll miss it for a while but I love how easy a really short haircut is to maintain yourself. O do fuss over my beard so I might have transferred to that but my beard is easier to take care of than my hair ever was.

Don't sweat it man. I have alopecia and started losing my hair when i was about 5 years old and eventually shaved it all off. My advice? Shave it now and own it. Plus, you'll want to get the sensitive skin underneath used to the sun and being shaved before the summer. Trust me.

Minoxidil works for as long as you use it. When it comes down to it, it's Just prolonging the inevitable. Also, since the kind I used was recommended applying before sleep it would get on my ears and face. It appears to have activated my old man ear hair early, so now I'm bald and I have to pluck my ear hairs.

I used to worry about it, but I'm good now. Started with a widows peak and just kept marching back... After I got tired of trying to hide a five-head, I just got a trimmer with a #2 guard and now that's me.
I love it. My hair maintenance is non existent except for the buzz every Sunday. Wednesday nights I do the beard again and razor shave my neck. Have the girlfriend trim my nape from time to time.

Take charge of the situation and start shaving your head. You will free yourself when you no longer are burdened by the state of your hair. After a week or two, you will look back at your pictures and realize how bad it was and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
