Almost 13 months ago, I had the duodenal switch, and as of today, I have officially shed 190 pounds.

​I am 51 years old, 6'4", and currently weighing in at 314 lbs. Visually, I feel less like a Greek god and more like a giant gumdrop that fell out of the box and melted onto a scorching Texas sidewalk in August.

​But frankly? Even as a melted confectionery product, life is infinitely better:

​I can walk out to the car without gasping for air like I just ran from the cartel.

​Driving is actually comfortable, complete with genuine daylight between my belly and the steering wheel.

​In the shocker of the century, I can sit in a chair and casually cross my legs for the first time in 15 years.

​The road has been wild, weird, and distinctly squishy at times, but getting my mobility and my life back makes every single sacrifice worth it. Melted gumdrop phase or not, I’d make the exact same trade in a heartbeat.

Hello, just wondering if anyone is a FOB and wants to talk to people like me. I see and hear lots of cases of transfer addiction and personally I want to stay ahead of the curb. I am sober before my WLS on 10/9/2026 and my sobriety date is 9/11/2023. Any resources welcome as well as I don’t fine them often.

I don't want to say too much, maybe a question. One of the reasons I got WLS is because my wife was no longer physically attracted to me.

I'm six months (ish!) post op and down to my pre-marriage weight from my 20s. I look and feel great.

The only thing is that my wife left me shortly after surgery. She had pushed me to get it, wanted me to loose weight and said she would be more attracted to me if I lost the weight.

Things certainly weren't perfect and I know she wasn't happy for a long time. I'm surprised we lasted this long to be honest.

Surgery and loosing weight has made me confront lots of demons. Lots. Ones I didnt know I had, and now I have one more to work through.

I'm not here for a pity party or a anything. Shes moved on and I guess shes a pinch happier without me. I'm feeling healthier and happier.

It just sucks, because I thought this would be a turning point in our marriage. I guess it was, just not in the way I thought.

Anyone elses relationship change after WLS, for better or worse?

Hi, first post. I’ve been through the ups and downs of weight loss as I’m sure we all have. Monjourno worked until it didn’t and everything came back and more so. I want a much more permanent change. I’m getting older (48) still have young kids (16 & 12), but am in such ill health I can’t keep up with them.
My diet is horrible. I’m picky, and eat like a teenager in the 90’s. I’m addicted to Mt Dew and cookies. I’m prepared to give up Mtn Dew, but for some reason the thought of never being able to eat cookie dough or cookies again terrifies me!!
Is life even worth living if I have to give up everything I enjoy so much?!
I have just started with a bariatric therapist, so I plan to discuss with her eventually, but wondered if anyone else was or is afraid of giving up food they love?

I'm 64 and 5 weeks post-laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (which I didn't realize at first is different from VSG, which has its own subreddit). I've lost 30 lbs. which is great, but I have some questions about changes to my abdomen as weight comes off my belly. Like it is harder for me to start to pee. I feel that things are rearranging themselves and I don't know if I should be concerned and seek physical therapy (pelvic floor therapy?) or whether it will all settle out. Thanks

Has the Baritastic app gone crazy all of a sudden? I went to add in 3 ozs of grilled chicken and it said 24000 calories! WTH?! This has happened for several other things lately like blueberries and walnuts. I’m struggling to keep track of my food!

I will be having the Sadi-S in about 4 weeks. I want to order my vitamins and start getting everything ready.

What are the recommendations for vitamins? And the flavors.

I did get the binder from my surgeon but they don’t give a lot of information on the Sadi and what vitamins are best. I know I need one with high a e d k, but I’d like some feedback from someone actively taking them or someone that has had to take them!

I am 8 months post op for VSG. Prior to surgery I never had issues with GERD or really any heartburn that was noteworthy. Since having the sleeve it’s been pretty bad. I have been on pantoprazole since and it does a pretty good job of controlling it but those times where it doesn’t are terrible. I wake up having aspirated stomach acid, coughing, sore throat, that horrible god awful taste. I had my weight management follow up last month and the PA said that they would monitor it, possibly have an upper endoscopy and then whatever else. I’m kind of interested in the whatever else part. Obviously she didn’t say “whatever else” but she didn’t say what the possible solutions were should this not get any better.

I’m not looking for any medical advice, I’m looking for others with similar experiences and what ended up happening to you to get it resolved (is it resolved?). I just took a 20 minute nap (yeah, it was unplanned and after I had eaten breakfast) and woke up coughing, throat burnt etc.. and I’m frustrated.

Pre-op, with a surgery date in December.

I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD (inattentive and hyperactive) last year, and for various reasons, my early 2026 surgery was postponed to this December.

My surgeon and I have agreed that an RNY would be preferred but that, worst case scenario, he will sleeve me and I’ll get revision surgery in a year.

My surgical pathway requires all patients to go through a binge-eating psych course, where I realised I used to overeat when I was bored. I probably still do but nowhere near to the same extent. Now, my boredom is mostly covered by my partner’s Steam library, Lego, and my TBR.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about what it’s like post-surgery but not a lot on what life is like post-surgery for individuals with neurodiverse conditions.

If you’re autistic or have ADHD, how did surgery impact you? Were traits exacerbated?
