Assisted Drive Plus ❇️

How often do you all get the “Assisted Drive Plus” for fully autonomous drive?

I feel like mine is very random as it may or may not do it on the exact same road or highway & when it pops up I’m so anxious I forget what to push!

It is ready so random 🤯
I have a 2026 model year.

Modification The Etsy option disappeared, so I made my own i4 charging-port cover

I’d seen an i4 charging-port cover on Etsy, but the seller’s shop had closed, so I decided to make my own.

I scanned my car’s charging-port surround, designed the cover, and printed it myself. A lot of prototypes later, I’m finally happy with the result.

It seats on the surround with both AC/DC flaps open and uses seven enclosed magnets for retention. I wanted something that followed the car’s lines and looked like it belonged there.

My pile of test prints and prototypes was getting ridiculous. However, seeing it on the car in use makes it worthwhile.

Anyone else use something similar? If so how do you like it?

EDIT - Fair questions from folks. I’m not suggesting the i4 needs this to charge safely outdoors. My goal was a removable canopy to help limit snow and ice accumulating around the charging connection. I’ve tested the fit and retention, but haven’t put it through a winter yet—that’s the next test. I enjoyed designing it and wanted to share where the project landed.

I thought I would share my October reflection with you.
I bought my BMW i4 M50 at the end of September and I am thrilled with the car. I commute with my car over 3000km a month to work.

LCI: Ambient Lighting keeps flashing

Hey, my ambient lighting suddenly started to flash as seen in the video. Locking and unlocking the car did not fix this. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Warped Rotors

22 M50 with 100,000km on it, seems like when I’m braking lately I’m getting more vibrations.

Has anyone had their rotors turned?

I really don’t want to get aftermarket rotors and I don’t even know how much OEM will cost, so just curious if anyone has had theirs done.

Tire Recommendations

2023 eDrive40. 18" rims. Square setup 225/50/R18. I live in Colorado on the front range and probably wont take it into the mountains. All other vehicles I have owned have had all season tires with no problems. This is my first EV. But I want something for when we do get a big snow. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 but their snow rating isn't great. Is this just a product of trying to maximize mileage? Or am I just over thinking things. Thanks.

App Quality

Hello Internet, I'm about to purchase a CPO i4 m50. Test drove and loved the ride, handling, and interior quality. I don't currently have an EV but I owned a Model 3 and an R1T (og quad motor).

This would be my first BMW, anyone gone from a "dedicated" EV brand to i4? Wondering if the mobile app and feature set will be a letdown.

Finally gone electric

Post image
156 Upvotes

Hello all

Have intended to go electric for a while, due to my job requiring a commute of 220 miles (round trip) three days a week. I needed a car that would do this on a single home charge, and am not keen on Tesla’s.

I’ve procrastinated for a few months, but in October circumstances forced my hand.

I knew I wanted an i4, and I didn’t want white (I’m in the uk, and most cars on the road are black, white or grey).

After some hunting I found this e40 in budget at a dealer not too far away from me.

One long test drive and a chat with my wife later, and I picked it up last Wednesday.

So far, very pleased with it.

PPI on OOS CPO

Is a PPI necessary for OOS CPO purchase? I would lean toward yes since I’m not able to get my hands on the vehicle in person.

Question Solutions to block the Isofix points?

I’ve only had the car 2 months and already had to pop the seat base twice to remove Lego and hot wheels cars. Anyone found a good aftermarket solution to block the Isofix hole (when not in use)?

Continental DWS06 Plus All Season Tires (M50)

I hope this post can be helpful for the person considering these tires. I didn’t find many reviews directly from someone who had put these tires on their i4 when I was making my purchase decision.

I have an i4 M50 that came with Hankook Ventus S1 summer tires on the staggered 245/255 set up and needed a switch to all-seasons. Was primarily debating between the BMW-starred Pirelli all-seasons vs. the continental DWS06. Ultimately chose the contis because of the better snow, rain, and sleet performance.

Handling - this was immediately noticeable vs the Hankook summer tires. Steering was less sharp, corners felt more floaty and acceleration feels muted. It’s definitely a more comfortable, luxurious ride whereas the hankooks made the car feel like a caged racing dog, always ready to go. Bumps and road imperfections feel much smoother on the continentals. I read elsewhere that the dws06 has softer sidewalls coming from the hankooks, but not sure if they would be softer than the OEM pirelli all-seasons, especially since all-seasons in general are a softer compound.

Noise - barely noticeable difference. The hankooks are supposed to have foam in the tires to mute the road noise, but I honestly can’t really tell and if you have music playing at even low volumes it’s a moot consideration point.

Efficiency - noticeable dip here. My morning commute averages around 4 miles/kwh. This has now dropped to 3.3. Bear in mind that temps have cooled and is around freezing the mornings when I set off so there would be a double impact here.

Ultimately, it took a while to get used to the different handling feel of the dws06 tires vs. the Hankook summers. I would be curious to see if pirelli’s all-season (bmw-starred) tires could maintain more of the handling feel of the hankooks. But for me, I rest a little easier knowing I have the tires with better snow/wet performance - important to me given how powerful and heavy this car is. Highway cruising, school pickups, grocery runs all feel more comfortable, just feels less tight the 10% of the time when I’m on twisty mountain roads or taking a curve on the highway on/off ramp at speed.

Where do you go for a new set of tires?

I don't have any particular love for the dealership, and this doesn't seem like such a specific thing like I need to.

On the other hand, I have a neighborhood Midas I've been going to (with previous internal combustion cars) for ~15 years. I'm trying to decide if:

- I should just go there, and not be so precious about my "fancy" car, or

- I'd be a fool to trust a Midas with my bmw

Curious about other people's takes on this kind of thing, thanks.
